The groud soil is being contaminated which is causing mutations to certain plant life, leaking into certain areas where people live causing seizures and liver failure. The plant shouldn't even be here with it's inability to change the chemicals it's using on the environment. All evidence against them are found in the deceased.

A driver for the refinery ran me out of my lane trying to get to the 190th entrance by Crenshaw. Ngl that was a bit annoying.

To everyone complaining about the refinery, please educate yourself. The smoke clouds you see, its STEAM!!! The company is not allowed to have releases into the environment. In the catastrophic event that they do, it burns off in a flare system. If you live around the refinery and cannot handle it, then move. People saying to close the place down, what exactly do you think is going to happen with all those acres? You are messing with people’s livelihoods. Think about the employees and what they have to do day in and day out so you can drive, bbq, fly, take trains and get on boats. Please stop being so obscure in your thinking.

Some days you can be fairly far away and still get the overwhelming wave of nasty smell permeate your entire area, even with windows closed. It’s weird how it comes in waves- I guess they release their toxins in gusts. If you drive down the block it looks like a horror story. Oddly, the reason this came to mind today is wondering why the air quality in my area says “very unhealthy” then I though- oh yeah- that refinery.

Raymond,When the refinery was built, it was out in the fields away from everything. The company bought the land the refinery was to sit on. As it expanded, the company bought more land. Then developers bought land around it and built houses. Entrepreneurship at work ... free enterprise ... cheap land ... make a buck quick ... the American way. Now, the folks living there, maybe third, fourth, or fifth owners maybe more, are concerned about an industrial facility that was there first. Should the refinery have bought a buffer zone of empty land way back when? Would you like to have been paying a $1 a gallon for gas in 1950?Walt Disney had the same problem with Disneyland. He bought all the orange groves he could and built the entertainment center. Developers bought all the land around. He did it different in Florida buying huge amounts of land secretly lest the price skyrocket. Then he could control the development of the land around the multiple parks. Yet, folks now complain about that way of doing things saying the "company wants to control everything."No matter which way you do it, someone is not going to like it.
