Stay away, far away. I am writing a long review because I think potential customers need to be warned. I have never encountered such a shady, volatile, so-called "professional" (NOTE: she is NOT a certified public accountant). She has been doing my 97-year-old mother's taxes for years and this year I started paying attention to my mom's finances (given her age it was overdue). Although we gave Patricia all the materials over a month before the April tax deadline, she neglected to file my mom's taxes. We are only now learning this in August, when Patricia called my mom to say she needed to come in to sign/get the forms! We are pretty sure Patricia did not even file for an extension, as she could not provide any documentation. She claimed my mom would not have any IRS penalty--a blatant lie. The IRS requires estimated tax payments at the time one files for an extension, and she never communicated to my mother that she had not filed her taxes in back in April! We looked at the IRS paperwork Patricial just prepared (4 months late!), and saw multiple discrepancies. We were especially shocked to see that Patricia significantly padded the amount my mother owed in taxes--a sneaky, unethical way to cover up the fine my mother would have due to Patricia's negligence. When I called Patricia to ask about the discrepancy between what the forms say my mom owed and what she was asking my mom to pay the IRS, she started screaming at me on the phone, ultimately yelling that my 97-year-old mom could find another accountant--she would not be filing her taxes electronically. Clearly, based on my pointed questions, she realized we were onto her shenanigans. Also, beware that although she says her tax preparing fee is $300, when the bill arrives, she has add-ins for bizarre things that raise the bill significantly (in my mom's case, she was charged $130 ("processing and packaging"), plus another $110 ("E-file and tech") and another $30 ("new tax law upgrade"), bringing the total to $570 for a 97 year-old's super-straighforward tax preparation bill (my mom only has social security and modest investment funds). Patricia says that these extra fees are to cover the costs of her classes and having to buy computer programs! Who does that?! So now my mother is stuck with an IRS fine due to Patricia's negligence about filing my mom's taxes on time. We fear that my mom is not the only one being scammed, as Patricia seems to have a lot of senior citizen patients. Be warned...

She's not a CPA, so her knowledge of tax law is limited, but charges CPA fees. She's fine, as long as you don't ask questions. If you ask tough questions, she's rude and dismissive. If she's too busy at tax time, she simply doesn't file your return and tells you months later. Stay away and don't believe the positive reviews.

I just ran across my old review here and I am shocked to see Susan B putting a 5 start review as recently as last year. I must admit my original review was a little bit of a lie because it wasn't my personal return I experienced this with but my clients return. Everything else was true about the situation - I just didn't want to write all the details because I didn't want her to be able to trace this back to me. But enough time has gone by so I wanted to come back and strengthen my review.... For credibility sake - I am ranked as one of the top financial advisors in the country by Forbes Magazine. I have 20 years in my industry and have always been ranked top in my industry. I have dealt with many tax preparers and many different types of client tax situations. I am also personally trained to do tax returns. So I speak from a lot of experience when I say - please understand this tax preparer is not okay. I have run into many weak tax preparers over the years...often they are mom and pop shops. But she stands out as one of the worst.

Stay away, far away. I have never encountered such a shady, volatile, so-called "professional" (she is not a certified CPA). She has been doing my 97-year-old mother's taxes for years and although we gave her all the materials well before tax time, she simply neglected to file my mom's taxes this year. We are only now learning this in August, when she called my mom to say she needed to come in to sign/get the forms! We are pretty sure Patricia did not even file for an extension, as she did not provide any paperwork showing this. She claimed my mom would not have any IRS penalty--a blatant lie. The IRS requires estimated tax payments at the time one files for an extension, and she never communicated to my mother that she had not filed her taxes in April! (She did the same thing to my brother, who was stuck with a big fine thanks to her negligence--back then she offered free services for the following year but he wisely ditched her--just wish my mom had done the same). When we looked at the IRS paperwork Patricial prepared, we saw some troubling discrepancies: we were especially shocked to see that Patricia significantly padded the amount my mother owed in taxes--a sneaky, unethical way to cover up the IRS fine my mother would have due to Patricia's negligence. When I called Patricia to ask about the discrepancy between what the IRS forms say my mom owed and what she was asking my mom to pay the IRS, she started screaming at me on the phone, accusing me of being disrespectful and yelling that my 97-year-old mother could get someone else to do the taxes--she would not file them electronically. (It was clear that she knew where my questions were leading, and that I would be asking her to cover the cost of the IRS fine--it was cheaper for her to shed my mom as a client than to do the right thing and cover the cost of the fine that she caused by failing to file my mom's taxes on time). So now my mother is stuck with a hefty IRS fine due to Patricia's negligence. Also, beware that although she says her tax preparing fee is $300, when the bill arrives, she has add-ins for bizarre things that bring the bill up significantly (in my mom's case, she was charged $130 ("processing and packaging"), plus another $110 ("E-file and tech") and another $30 ("new tax law upgrade"), bring the total to $570 for a very simple 97 year-old's tax preparation bill who only has social security and modest investment funds. Patricia says that these fees are to cover the costs of taking classes and having to buy computer programs! Who does that?! I fear that my mom is not the only one being scammed. Be warned...

First, she's NOT a CPA, but charges CPA fees. Second, she's friendly, unless you ask a tough question. Third, if she's to busy at tax time, she will simply not file some returns. Unprofessional.

In my 60 years of life, I can tell you for certain that Ms. Mouille should consider retirement. I was sitting in your small office area with a single chair waiting for her and could hear Ms. Mouille speaking rudely to another client in the office. Her receptionist and I were both surprised. When I went in to see her for my appointment, she was equally disrespectful. I decided to discontinue the appointment and find another accountant to work with. You would never expect this by the photos of all the babies she has on the wall and her affluent Tiburon location. Needless to say, no matter how good someone does our taxes, I do not feel it is worth sacrificing my integrity to listen to such behavior.I believe she has been doing her job for so long, she has no more patience and should consider a long needed break.____NOTE take a look at this other review:Tom BoyntonPatricia comes on sweet as candy but be forewarned she is nasty, pushy, rude at a moments notice! She may be a good accountant but team player - no dice!I was warned and now warn you!

She is excellent. She is low-tech, but VERY up to date on tax laws, including investments and rental properties. She has a strong personality but is well organized and is very reliable. She does not suffer fools well, so if you're flakey, prone to drama, have an inflated sense of your own identity or think you know the current tax code better than she does, you won't have a good experience. I think she is great.

I have been going to Patricia for over 20 years and have found her to be fantastic. I was a little nervous seeing her this year because of all of the tax changes but she explained everything to me and even went so far as to show me calculations using both old tax forms and new tax forms so I could compare and have a better understanding of the changes. I have also referred several friends who have been equally happy with her services.

I was going to just let this go, but I figured I'd want to know this story beforehand...Prior to meeting, one of her assistants told me to email my last 3 returns. My schedule got hectic and I got behind in my tax prep. In my haste, I mistakenly sent more tax documents than needed. I'd asked if she'd look at last year's spreadsheet of potential deductions, to make sure I should bother, but was told she was much too busy. OK, fine. At the appointment, she seemed already irritated with me due to all my emails. She is low tech and really prefers nothing sent by email if possible. Because I was missing a chunk of my prep info, I said I'd get it to her over the weekend (we met on a Wednesday, 3/14) and she kept saying "I don't know you yet" meaning I don't trust you yet and assume you won't do what you say, until you actually do it. She suggested opening a specific type of IRA, but that I'd probably have to file for an extension. I didn't understand why, but it was because "she didn't know me yet," and assumed there was no way I'd take care of it in time. While I got her point that people let her down, after a while, it got to just be offensive. I happen to be quite responsible and if I say I'll do something, I do. I don't appreciate when people just assume the worst of me. After entering just preliminary numbers in her tax prep system, she said it had calculated that I would have to pay a significant penalty due to underpayment in my quarterly payments, as a result of money being moved at the end of the year, generating more income than anticipated. It happened that my parents' CPA said otherwise (their CPA for decades, who's involved with the account that had the distribution), since we increased the final tax payments to compensate. I was trying to understand why they were making opposite statements. I should also say that I know virtually nothing about taxes and tax law, so I can barely wrap my head around tax specifics. Because she made it clear that if I did not get my remaining tax info to her ASAP, since she wanted to complete my taxes while my info was fresh in her brain, if I didn't send it soon, I would be sent to the bottom of the stack, while she focused on other clients, so I made a point to get it done the next day. When I sent it over, I also asked about that penalty issue. My email said "One other issue we discussed was a penalty fine because my 2018 quarterly payments were not sufficient to cover all my income last year. But my parents' CPA said that because we paid 10% over what I earned last year, that due to Safe Harbor Laws, there should not be a penalty or fine. And I also found the same information on the IRS website." Then I inserted a paragraph off the IRS website stating exactly this. The response I got, from one of her assistants (who almost always write her emails) was this: "Is this all that we are expecting from you for Patricia to do your tax return. Patricia doesn't need anyone telling her the tax laws, she knows them, trust me." I found that to be an unprofessional and snarky response. I was fuming and sent this (which I greatly toned down): "While Patricia may not be interested in another CPA's opinion, the information I provided was copied and pasted straight off of the IRS website. So if you are saying the IRS website is incorrect, I need to understand why or understand what information I am missing..." The next email was from Patricia: "IT IS CLEAR THAT I DID NOT CONVINCE YOU OF MY EXPERTISE IN TAX PREPARATION AT OUR MEETING.... SO YOU CHECKED WITH YOUR PARENTS' TAX PROFESSIONAL AND THEN CONFIRMED YOUR HYPOTHESIS ON THE IRS WEBSITE AND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE WITH IT. HMMMMM. Look on page 2 of your 2017 tax return. Your '17 liability was $XX. Using the same formula @ 110% that you quote. Your criteria was to make $XX in 201

Patricia has been doing our personal and business taxes for years. She is extremely knowledgeable and always up-to-date on tax code. She has consistently given us great advice and keeps us on track. We meet with her once or twice a year and then again at tax time for one last review before she prepares our return. She gives honest and forthright opinions and information. With Patricia's help we always know where we stand and what we need to do. Finally, she makes us laugh a lot. She's fantastic.

I was referred to the Tiburon tax lady by a very good friend. I was experiencing a complicated and uncomfortable tax situation with an unhealthy business. Patricia made me cry during several visits. I was berated and told to grow up. Taxes suck, I needed help, instead received unwarranted therapy.
