“On Tuesdays ~10:30 they have freshly-fried tempura vegetables (eggplant pumpkin green beans sweet potatoes) and shrimp in clean oil. They are most tasty when just-fried. However when I’ve warmed the leftovers in the oven on a wire rack and rimmed, parchment paper or aluminum foil lined sheet pan for 10-15 minute at 350 F they are still crunchy enough due to the baking powder and/or baking soda in the batter”
“Cozy market with lots of stalls with good vegetables and fruit. However, it would be great if there were more organic options. You may have doubts about what is organic and what is not. Beware of pickpockets when there are many people.”
“Amazing selection of produce as well as basic groceries and a huge selection of international foods and spices.always some produce prices you can hardly believe they are so low, and kind and helpful staff.”
“Have been to this store only twice and already love it!! It’s the best in the neighborhood when it comes to quality, price and service. What more do you need? Make this your regular store!”
“The Good Life Grocery in San Francisco California had the best, most delicious salads for our daughter, Rebel’s Picnic in San Francisco on our vacation with Deli Salads, lemon noodles, beet salad, Greek salad with olives and feta cheese. Good Life is a neighborhood treasure. Bernal Heights is Heaven.”
“Always great service and quick. Meats are top quality. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. I don't really go here to get standard groceries. Meats and wines are excellent and well priced.”
“I love that Courtney's is still going strong. This is one of the healthiest places for me to grab lunch (and snacks...and beautiful flowers). From the outside, it looks like a fruit stand, but once you make your way inside, there is so much more. There's always a great selection of pre-made sandwiches (including turkey, bacon & avocado on Dutch crunch), juices with some great blends. Desserts are abundant as well as beautifully curated fruit salads and flowers (including some fringed tulips once). And the prices are very reasonable. One of the other reasons Courtney's is healthy for me is that it's a bit of a trek from my workplace and, if I incorporate walking up 14th St. from Noe to Castro, that's the equivalent of 7 floors per my fitbit.”
“One of my favorite local grocery stores in SF. Have been coming here since it was the small location on Noregia. The upgrades they did for the market are incredible. The meat case always has a great selection, especially around the holidays. The sandwiches are a hit or miss, but I do appreciate that they have a punch card system. There is both street parking and underground parking.”
“LOVE THIS MARKET! Friendly staff and they have the best prices on produce. I recommend this market to all my friends in the neighborhood. Support local business!!”
“Great local produce market! I have been shopping here for many years. For a small space, they have a great selection of fruits and vegetables. I've generally found everything I need and the prices are normal/comparable to your larger supermarkets. When I first started shopping here they mainly had staple produce, but over the years they have expanded the selection to include changing neighborhood demand: acme bread, some basic cheeses, and some international pantry items. The people are generally friendly too. An older man once rung me up, who I believe is one of the owners, and told me to pick different peaches because the ones I chose may be too ripe and go bad soon. I appreciated this a lot.”
“The Mission District is a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in authentic Latin culture and cuisine. Walking through the streets, you’re surrounded by vibrant murals, lively energy, and an endless lineup of Latin food spots that feel truly authentic.
One standout stop is Casa Guadalupe Supermarket—a treasure trove of Latin flavors, from fresh ingredients to specialty snacks and baked goods. Every corner of the Mission District feels full of life and community pride, and sampling the food here is like taking a bite out of local culture itself!”
“I highly recommend this location. The gentleman is very friendly and polite. I purchased some fresh tamales from this location and never disappointed. It's so delicious. The price is reasonable.”
“I love this neighborhood spot! Great place to grab a yummy sandwich, 6 pack, etc. Owners are very friendly. Thankful to have a market like this in the area, as there aren't many other convenience stores nearby.”
“Great local market with an extensive selection of Vietnamese ingredients and packaged products as well as produce and a meat counter. They also have a small amount of other Asian ingredients they accept EBT”
“A bit expensive and not too many stands, so generally a limited selection of goods, but good for basic product, eggs, meat, bakery, etc. Go grab some things to snack on and walk to Golden Gate ?”
“We spotted the stand while driving and we doubled back when we saw word “Pickles”
To our delight we were greeted by John ?who showed us that not only did they have delicious pickles but many other delights: jams, hot sauce, cookies, honey and more. All sourced right here, in NorCal. John, thank you for these edible delights we feel as though we came upon such a hidden gem and we simply cannot wait to return for those pickled peppers ?️!”
“Lovely produce! Always try to stop here because the carrots, celery, kale, garlic, onions and lots else are head and shoulders above the rest! Parking is tough though and I live up and over Union (really big hill!) but we make the trek.”

“My favorite mom and pop store to shop at. Owned by a wonderful family! They get to know there customers by name and have always treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. Highly recommend this store. They not only sell food and beverages they also carry sweaters, hoodies, beanies, gloves, sweatpants ECT. Also have barber clippers beard trimmers and much more!”
“Terrific owner of the place and friendly staff.Thank you again for assisting me today with too good to go application pickup. I hope your business grows and thanks for doing good things! Quality of fresh products is great.”
“It's alright, its best feature is that it's close to me. Farmers sell organic produce but it's expensive. The pastry stand is not as good as I hoped. There are some nice prepared foods (dumplings, hummus, bread, honey) and sometimes a fish guy.It sort of covers all the basics but isn't impressive enough that I want to go weekly. The farmers market on Clement is better and I go there instead if I have time.”
“Everything freshEverything LatinoCasa Lucas is the spot. My grandmother on 3 restaurants in San Francisco and Casa. Lucas on twenty fourth is where she went to by her nee My grandmother on 3 restaurants in San Francisco and Casa. Lucas on 24th is where she went to by her ingredients”
“I stopped here because I was driving by and saw the prices on produce. This was a small market but they had a lot of stuff. Produce was ok but definitely reasonably priced. The people who work here are very helpful and friendly. I was very happy to stop by here.”
“What A Tomato Produce is a wonderful place to buy produce. Their sales people are very knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are very competitive and if you own a grocery store or restaurant or just need produce for your home it's a great place to shop.”
“Just read your supremely inspiring story in Madeline Ostrander’sbook, “At Home on An Unruly Planet.” Thank you for the stirr big of hope and courage!!! Eugenie in Bellingham Washington”
“Good store for daily needs though it's a small one but having all essential items. Their prices are quite reasonable and quality is good. Shop timings are also convenient. Owner and staff are honest and helpful.”
“A family member lives nearby and this is his go to store in the neighborhood. It’s big compared to the ones near my home. They have a good selection of milk specifically lactose free whole milk. Picked up a carton of milk, orange juice and 2 bananas for $12. I didn’t have time to schlep around town and was looking for convenience so worth it IMHO. Super friendly folks. Word is that their deli sandwiches are good but I didn’t try this time. Maybe next time.”
“I have shopped here at the Tiburon location for at least five years. The food is fresh, meat is amazing as well as the daily buffet! Especially love the manager Johnathan who is helpful & kind. Love Vince the butcher & chatting up Niners-Giants talk!! Great store all around!..Great staff!”
