Hello, I have been a member of the Ventura County Credit Union for many years. I have had numerous loans including car and a mortgage line at the Ventura Credit Union. It has always been my secondary bank but today I decided I would make it my primary bank. I deposited a large pay check from a government employer into a coop ATM closer to my home. I was surprised when only about $200 was available until early October when the hold would be lifted. I called VCCU and after being on hold for about 25-35 minutes I spoke to an employee named Jay. Jay was kind and took some time helping me with other matters. Jay said they generally need a copy of the check image but I could go into the branch and the branch manager had the discretion to override the hold on my check which seemed logical since I had the check stub and the check was from my employer of 17 years. While I was on the phone with Jay, Jay told me she was able to get the check image and she would call me back today. Jay told me she would call me back but told me I should go into the Ventura County Credit Union and they could further assist me in person. I went into the branch and was helped by a friendly teller. I explained the situation and he said he would have to speak to his manager who later identified herself as Lori Brown NMLS # 727094. The Teller helped me with another matter and did a fine job. The teller went and spoke to his manager and returned. The teller said the manager refused to override the hold on my check. I asked to speak to the manager and after a wait she appeared. I explained to Lori Brown that I finally decided to switch from my other bank to Ventura County Credit Union but I needed some money to pay for groceries for my children. (I have four children and the youngest is two weeks old.) The last two weeks have been a sleep deprived whirlwind but that is my issue. Lori Brown told me she had the discretion to override the hold on my deposit but does not know me personally so she would not even provide me a partial override of $500 to $1000. Lori told me I needed to provide a copy of the check image to her before she could release any funds. I told Lori Brown I needed the money to feed my large family and I could not wait until October. Lori Brown looked me in the eyes and told me she would not put the credit union at risk by providing me the money I deposited, even a few hundred dollars to pay bills and buy groceries. I reminded Lori Brown I have been a member for a long time and Lori Brown should not have to personally know me to do the right thing. Lori Brown looked me in the eyes with a slight smirk and said she would not provide me the money. In my life time, I have looked into the eyes of some of the most evil and hardened men and women that have walked the earth and I have never seen such a lack of empathy or coldness as I saw today. I also have never felt the twinge of pain and helplessness that her decision brought. I have never had a bad experience with the Ventura County Credit Union or any bank until today. I believe this is the first review I have written of anything in my life. I wish Lori well but will no longer be switching any accounts over to the credit union.

Walked in to get change being a union member with another federal credit union and they refused to change out for me.

It’s okay if you walk in. They still don’t get anything right but you can talk to a human. The website stinks and don’t try calling. Edit. I got it straightened out. You have to goin though

Well.... I'll never bank here or step foot in this place again. Took a check here to be cashed (around 200 dollars) today 5/10/23. Took over 20 mins. I think the teller thought I was trying to commit fraud so she kept me waiting there way longer than needed. Not sure if the manager tried to contact the account holder (embarrassing) only to look like a fool as it was a legit check. This place is a joke. Environment is off, no music, non friendly employees. Bank needs to do better and stop the BS. Every other bank I cash checks at, no issues.... Just here. Unreal VCCU.

Called the main number yesterday to ask about being added to my moms other savings accounts since I'm on her checking account already and paying her bills now. After a 40 minute wait I was called back and told I needed to go into the branch which I did today with my 81 year old mom who has been a member since the early 1970s. We walked in i I went to the teller to explain what we needed. The teller asked if I had an appointment? I said I didn't know we needed one because I was told we just needed to go to the branch in person. The teller looked at her screen and said they were totally booked for the day and that I could make an appointment on line. Even though she could see my mom standing in the lobby with her Walker we could not be accommodated. There were a total of two customers being helped. Considering what I was instructed to do and my mom standing there, no attempt was made to made an accommodation for a simple process. No manager was called. We were at another credit union the week before and was added to her accounts within 15 minutes. Keep in mind I wasn't on any of these accounts and we were taken care of quickly. Very disappointed and will likely move our accounts to the other credit union.

If you are lookimg for an alternative to Big Banks and their deceptive and dishonest business practices, DO NOT GO TO THE VENTURA COUNTY CREDIT UNION. They are worse! They will deem an account "dormant" without prior notice and just keep YOUR money as a "fee". Big Banks will mostly issue a "courtesy refund" if they get caught, VCCU will just tell their customers to go pound sand. Cuidado! Banco deshonesto.

Allot to be desired. In the modern times we live in it's still surprising VCCU gives out the cheapest debit and credit cards with no tap and pay option or even embossing. Used to be a Visa card now only MasterCard available. Don't bother putting your checks into the ATM or it'll take 3-4 days before they get around to even bothering with them.

Came in super stressed about my lease ending and with cars being so hard to buy or find these days. To say I was stressing would be light. I came in not a member and Jason, branch manager, sat me down to showed me some amazing options to help me be able to keep my Jeep! Got me great rates that I definitely wasn't finding anywhere else. I was approved the next day and then finalized! I only had 2 weeks left to figure it out and they got it done in 3 days. Huge shout out to Jason Valsamis, look forward to moving all my banking here

I've been using VCCU for over 7 years and have always appreciated their excellent service. My girlfriend and I were in the process of looking for a car, got pre-approved, and went into this branch to finish things up. I was helped by Anthony Young who took all of the stress and worry out of the situation immediately, I knew we were going to be well taken care of. Anthony put me in a position to drive down to Murrieta and get the car we always wanted! His attention to detail and customer service are unmatched compared to any bank, agent, or rep I've talked to within VCCU. All great people, but Anthony is in another tier of his own. Please, give this man the recognition for all he did for me, and for other members that may not take the time to write a review!!

Been with Ventura county CC for years. Their service is impeccable and very personal. They actually answer their phones so you can talk to a real person instead of getting talked to by a recorded voice, put on hold, asked to push numbers and get transferred, give your entire life IDs before getting transferreersd and then duplicating the whole procedure for the transfer.

I came in yesterday because I needed an auto loan. I called VCCU before going in because I needed to get my loan processed as soon as possible. I was told that Anthony was busy, but he would make the time for me because he knew it was urgent. Needless to say, I went in and he was knowledgeable and helped me through the process. He had the best demeanor, and was incredibly kind and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone who needs an auto loan!!!

sabel was very knowledgeable and professional. I came in flustered and not prepared. I didn't even think I was going to be helped considering I stormed in 15 mins before closing . I applied for an auto loan and needed to come in to provide additional doc. She took her time and was extremely thorough. I would 110% recommend her. Thank you for your amazing customer service !

Such an awesome experience with Sarah and Isabelle. The underwriting and approval process was simple and easy. Very streamlined. I had issues with another lender after they ran my credit and approved me and then backed out at the last minutes. The VCCU account set up was also very quick. Staff is great!
