Customer service was excellent and prompt in answering my questions. I ordered online and delivery was on time and in good condition. Overall so stoked because I couldn’t find this board in stock anywhere else.

Hard to shop local at stores you’ve been loyal to when they charge for customer service. I went in to try on and learn more about Burton step on boots and bindings and they told me it would cost 30$ just to try them on if I don’t purchase that day. They had a limited stock with limited options to even purchase from.

I decided at the age of 38 that I should get a skateboard. I need to show my children that their old man can still shred the gnar. Do young people still say that on The Twitters? The dudes and dudette at Val Surf were very helpful building me a complete skate deck. Shout out to Luke behind the counter who walked me through the whole process. Answered all my questions and was very friendly. He actually saved me money and recommended some brands he felt were more cost effective.Val-Surf has been around forever and it's cool to still see them open. Support your local surf / skate shop!

Everyone in this store is literally incompetent. And I feel bad for the owner whoever it is who pays 7 people to work in a store and not one can ever ask if you need help or answer a single question. Economically doesn't make sense, mam or sir, whoever owns this store you need max two to three competent people working on the floor who actually assist customers given the foot traffic here. Your payroll is too high for what you're getting. And when you do ask for help it's nearly like talking to a four year old.

Just went to Val Surf for the first time in a while. Used to love this store, grew up going there for all my snowboard gear for almost 20 years. Just purchased an Icon pass and was ready to buy all new gear to make the best of the season. The good news, was Lance. Lance was there to help with finding me a pair of amazing Burton Boots. Asked to try a 7.5 and a 8 in 3 different styles (to me, I thought was reasonable since they aren't cheap). Lance was so helpful and actually seemed like he cared about his job, or maybe his mom just raised him right. Not to mention, Lance ran to the door to open it for an elderly lady who clearly appreciated his kindness. NOW, FOR THE REASON I LIKELY WILL NOT GO BACK EVER AGAIN TO VAL SURF .....HUDSON. I have never had a shopping experience so awkward and unpleasant. Somebody needs to teach this kid some manners. While Lance was helping EVERYONE in the store, Hudson stood at the register attempting to act cool in front of the girl who also worked there and clearly way out of his league. Not once did I see him acknowledge The only time he spoke was when he basically came and took all the boots I was trying back so I couldn't run off with a pair. He made it seem like he was trying to prevent us from stealing them. I specifically told him, "Please don't take these, I'm still deciding. He ignored me and took them anyway. Don't make your customers uncomfortable, is that so much to ask for? I then told Lance I was going to try a pair of snowboarding socks with the boots and that I would be purchasing them no matter what, and he reasonably was like "of course, no problem" but then for some reason little Hudson kid says I needed to bring the tag to him and suggested I needed to pay first. I'm about to buy boots why would I run off with a pair of $15 socks. Also, if he wanted the tag, he should of come and taken it, but he instead demanded I bring it to him. Super awkward moment, but Lance comes and saves the day again by telling Hudson basically to be quiet and I was fine to put the socks on and he would get the tag later. It's one thing to have poor customer service but Hudson is unkind, rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. He needs to not be up front where people have to deal with his bad manners. Crazy how one little person can ruin the good reputation of a solid company in minutes. Give Lance a raise.

This place is the BEST! Great selection of clothes, board shorts, shoes, everything you need for the beach or charging up to Mammoth for snow. And good chance you might see a pro skater or snowboarder there while you're picking out your gear. Staff is super knowledgeable and helpful.

They built two skateboards for my sons. My sons are 4 and 5 and the staff was very patient and accommodating. Pricing was really good. I recommend this place.

I have a kid who skates. The Thousand Oaks location is right by my house, and is the only skate shop within 15 miles. I really wish they were a good place to shop, but they are not.I went in there today with my 9 yo kid, and told the rep "I don't know anything and I need help picking one.". He pointed to the long boards and said "they are all good. just get what you like", and disappeared into the back of the shop.We stood there for a few minutes. nobody came back. The boards are in different shapes. I have already expressed that I don't know how to choose. They each have 1 wheel off, so you *can't stand on them*. I felt foolish and left. Nobody spoke to us on the way out.I told my daughter that there are a lot of other gifts coming for her, and she seems OK. But honestly, would I recommend this place? Hard no!The last board we bought there has the Vals logo on it. I regret that purchase now, because seeing it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

We went into the Valencia store today and it was crazy busy since it is the weekend before Christmas. We hooked the kids up with all new snowboarding gear. Justin saw us in the snowboard section and I'm sure we looked lost. He asked if we needed any help and of course we all said yes. He pulled all of the boots in the kids sizes so there was no back and forth, he shared his knowledge on the different types of boards and helped the kids pick out the gear that was best for them. I just wanted to say a huge thank you for his help. Even though the store was the busiest I've ever seen it, Justin never made us feel rushed, he showed us all of the options, and then offered to fit the bindings to the boards and fit the boots to fit their feet. Justin went above and beyond and I just wanted to recognize stellar customer service. Thanks so much for making today an enjoyable experience when it could have easily gone the other way in all of the frantic, crazy, holiday shopping.
