Brought my dog here twice. She walked out WORSE TWICE. 1st time she couldn’t walk- 2nd time she was DEAD.
This place has decent reviews and was close so we started taking my senior dog, Coco, to PawWorks.
The first time was for a check up/shots. I mentioned to the vet that sometimes she’s limped and could he took a look. He took her to examine to the back of the clinic where you can’t see anything. Coco came back and was placed directly into my arms (she’s 15 lbs ish) and I placed her in the car and drove home. At home I discovered she couldn’t walk!! I called back and they asked me to bring her back in. When I got there they wanted to do a set of X-rays and charge me the cost to fix the new problem they made.
The last time was in August 2024. She went in for an exploratory procedure to see what a mass (found on X-ray) was. I dropped her off at 7, expecting to pick her up at 4.
They called around lunchtime asking me to come in urgently.
When i got there, a vet I’ve never seen before came in the room and said she’d ‘manipulated the mass’. And This started bleeding profusely. They said I needed to take her to a hospital. I thought I was at a hospital! She had a huge cut along her body, was bleeding and coming out of anaesthesia. They wanted me go act as dog ambulance and find her somewhere else in her awful condition that could attempt to stop her dying. The chances she would make the journey, and then the operation were very, very low (and cost 20k to try). Or I could euthanise her.
I couldn’t handle the idea of taking my poor, cut up , bleeding and dying 13 yr old dog to around in my bumpy car on my own, try find a place only for her to immediately do another operation and probably die there. I couldn’t believe I was in this situation - I was supposed to pick her up to go home, not decide to kill her. I remember the last face she made at me when the random vet tech took her off. Shock and sadnesss - but it was it was ok - I expected to see her a few hours later. I never saw her eyes open again and didn’t say any good byes.
She died right there in that vet office. The last thing is said to her was apologising for bringing her to that vet and asking her forgiveness.
They offered no explanation after. They offered to send me videos of the procedure and visit but they never sent any. They offered me a ‘free cremation’ which i declined. The CEO of pawworks was a lawyer (she was sure to tell me many times) and said she didn’t see any malpractice (of course). They stopped answering my my emails asking for what they offered to send.
Why would the vet manipulate the mass of something she couldn’t fix if it (as she said) looked like it could bleed at any time?
Why does this vet clinic not able to handle when it did bleed?
Just all seems totally amateur. I thought about creating more of a fuss but I realised that none of that was bringing my little dog home.
Don’t take your animals there.

I have been sending adoptable kitties to Paw Works for the past 3-4 years and it is always a pleasant experience working with them. Their staff and volunteers are some of the hardest working, generous and kind people you’ll ever meet.
I started sending cats to them for rescue when I worked at a shelter. I have continued a relationship with them personally as I come across kitties who need a safe place to go when they’re ready to be adopted. I trust them with my whole heart and always feel so relieved sending the cats their way, knowing that they will be well cared for and carefully adopted out to responsible families.
Paw Works staff/volunteers have prevailed through some difficult times in the last couple years. The rescue world is such a heart-wrenching one, but this organization is so genuine and does amazing work, always with the animals’ best interest at heart! They keep on keepin’ on through the good times and the bad.
Keep it up Paw Works! You guys are the best!
Thank you for all that you do.

I have been volunteering with this organization for several years now, and I have never met a group of people who are more devoted and caring.I work with kitties, helping them to find their new forever homes. We see all kinds of cats, from the tiny adorable kittens to the grouchy old snagged-toothed tomcat. Each one is given the medical attention they require and all the love they need to help them get ready to meet their new adoptive family. I shudder to think what would have become of all the kitties and doggies had Paw Works not been there to save them.It is the most fun and rewarding “job” I’ve ever had and I thank the Paw Works family for the opportunity to be a part of it.

Paw Works is a wonderful rescue. They love and give the very best care possible for each and every dog and cat at their rescue. The adoption centers in Petsmart are always clean and the cats are cared for each and every day by volunteers that give them unconditional love and work hard to find them loving homes. We adopted a kitten 3 years ago and he is one amazing kitty. Paw Works staff, fosters and volunteers are dedicated to the care, socialization and well being of all of their rescue cats and dogs.

Paw works does nothing but great things for all the unwanted animals. They rescue dogs, cats from all over the valley where animals are dumped on a daily basis. I can't praise them enough for what they do. Thank you paw works!

This nonprofit animal rescue is EXCEPTIONAL. This lean, focused, hard-working organization is all heart and sensibility. They work tirelessly 365 days a year to alter the course of thousands of homeless animal lives.I have had the honor of volunteering and fostering for Paw Works for many moons. I see them face heartbreak and cruelty daily and yet they navigate these challenges with decorum, efficiency, focused sensibility and kindness. It's no wonder they are encircled with a massive village of long-time fosters, volunteers, shelter partners, donors and repeat adopters.

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that Paw Works goal is finding great homes for animals in need and it is also my personal experience that they accomplish this goal with compassion and integrity. They are great at identifying each individual pets needs and finding the best possible outcome for that pet.

Lied to us about a cat's temperament, she absolutely does NOT get along with other cats, and barely with people. Her extreme food anxiety/aggression would have been something to mention to us. Told us her weight was fine, while every other vet we took her to after adopting her insinuated that we had been starving her. Misreported her weight by at least a factor of 2. And then to require us to return her to Paw Works if she isn't "working out" and to pay for the privilege? I hope they *are* actually saving lives, because otherwise they are garbage.

Five stars because we have the sweetest babe thanks to them, but -4 for their lack of accountability when it comes to the dogs health. Honestly, look elsewhere for your future dogs. It breaks my heart what this organization is doing. While I will be forever grateful for paw works bringing our rescued baby into our lives, I will never rescue from them in the future and I feel like there needs to be some accountability on their part regarding their rescues and the rescues's health prior to adoption. My first concern once leaving the facility was the fact that they do ZERO background check on families coming to adopt. Maybe their fee of $500-550 is supposed to wean out those not as committed or those who have ill intent, but I still find it concerning. My second concern comes after my husband's work dog (first responder) had his annual physical and his test came back with a parasite. We decided to take our new puppy as well as our older family dog to the vet to be checked as well. Come to find out ALL dogs have a parasite and the puppy also has roundworm (common in puppies who get it from their mother). Our vet is convinced that our puppy (from paw works) is patient zero. Our main concern is keeping our pups healthy - and we are going through the process of doing so. I'm just extremely frustrated with their lack of commitment to their dogs health. We sign a contract that makes them void of any and all medical/vet expenses. Yet there is zero accountability on their part when they "sell" these dogs to the public.

We were interested in adopting, once we arrived to meet the dogs we saw how horrible their conditions and the way they looked. They look so underfed and most of them were packed into crates together like there’s no room for them. I saw another guy scratching himself like nuts and I’m thinking he probably has fleas or something idk.. but we turned around and left. I’m not sure how they can call them a rescue.. yikes
