Fifteen months into this journey and I can not say enough positive things about Morumbi Jiu Jitsu & Fitness Academy, the owners, professors, coaches, managers and the community of people that make up it's membership. The three academy locations in Ventura, Thousand Oaks, and Simi Valley are clean and inviting. Each location offers daily classes with several options that will accommodate a wide variety of schedules. Everyone is welcome at Morumbi regardless of your prior athletic background, martial arts experience, current fitness level or age. First timer or seasoned veteran, the classes offer great training opportunities for all skill levels. On the mats, Professor Fabio has assembled a team of professors and coaches that are second to none. Experienced, friendly, patient and encouraging, they communicate effectively and do an exceptional job of explaining techniques. They keep people safe and constantly reinforce what it means to be a good training partner. Additionally, they are thoughtful when dealing with newer students and partner them with appropriate training partners. Regardless of your size or skill level, the professors and coaches always make sure that the training is beneficial for everyone. Another benefit of this academy is the kettlebell strength and conditioning program. Led by Coach Dini, these classes offer full body, comprehensive training that keeps it interesting, challenging, and effective. The classes are a great way to compliment your Jiu Jitsu training and they are great for general, all around physical fitness. The movements and exercises performed are infinitely scalable and the weight/loading can be adjusted to accommodate everyone. Again, regardless of your age, experience or current fitness level, thoughtful consideration and hands on instruction is given to ensure it is appropriate for you. Finally, the members of the gym complete the equation. Extremely welcoming and supportive, they cross every walk of life. With such a broad spectrum of personalities, interests, and ages you are certain to find other like minded individuals. Great friends, excellent training partners and all-around friendly people that are drawn together to share the experience of training Jiu Jitsu. It is never too late. You are not too old. You are not too out of shape. You do not need to lose weight before you start. You should not wait until life is a little less hectic. You should not put it off until after the holidays. It IS physically, mentally and emotionally challenging and you will grow and learn about yourself while training. If you are curious about Jiu Jitsu and ready to experience it's many benefits, you should start your journey at Morumbi Jiu Jitsu & Fitness Academy.

Not a friendly atmosphere and was talked to like I was buying a car. Seeing everyone bow to professor Fabio when he was 15 minutes late was odd..

Is it clean? Is it safe? These were the first two questions my BJJ buddy asked me about Morumbi when I told him we were trying it out. He is a brown belt and has plenty of experience at various academies. Those were his critical pass/fail criteria questions. And the answer is emphatically YES to both of them. Our kids were first to join at about 5 and 7 yrs old. The professors and coaches make it very welcoming for new people. They ensure that new students are purposefully placed with other students. And the quality instruction from the professors and coaches is so valuable. Each class is usually started or ended by repeating core values and keys to success in life. Next my wife and I joined. Our dream is to have this be a family affair. I could never have dreamed how well my wife took to it. There is a large group (also close knit group) or women who attend. A couple years ago my wife never heard of BJJ, and now she can't stand to miss a day of jiu jitsu class or the kettlebell class. If you are worried about egos and people just smashing on you, then fear not. Professor Fabio protects the students and his academy from anyone just trying to hurt others. That being said, it is jiu Jitsu and it is designed to be used in real life. But the overall feel is a "family" environment and that is cultivated from the top down. It is a perfect place to learn and grow in BJJ. If you have any questions, be sure to talk to Coco who wears many hats at Morumbi. She is amazing and my kids absolutely love her. We love this academy and all the friendships we've already made. My wife and kids are exponentially growing not only in skill but in confidence, positivity and happiness.

Morumbi Academy is simply AMAZING. Myself and my family started training here 9 months ago and have fallen in love with Jiu Jitsu and training at Morumbi Academy. Every time we step into the academy we are greeted with smiles and an upbeat positive energy. People here treat you like family. Everyone is here to help each other grow and learn Jiu Jitsu in a safe fun environment. We have the amazing opportunity and privilege to learn from Professor Fabio Leopoldo and all the amazing Professors and Coaches here at Morumbi. My wife and daughter love to train Jiu Jitsu. We have seen a huge growth in confidence in all of us over the last 9 months while at Morumbi Academy. My daughter is 4 and we are 40 this year and manage to train 3-4 times per week and can't seem to get enough. I love the fact that my family is learning to defend themselves at a high level. I love that we do it together as a family. And, I love the fact that we have the best place to train! We are so grateful for Jiu Jitsu and Morumbi Academy. Thank you Professor for everything. Best gym around! What my husband and my two kids have learned in a short time is amazing. Professor Fabio and the coaches are great — they really take the time to focus on technique, positive attitude and overall discipline that is hard to find anywhere else!

I've trained in the martial arts for over 30-years. Professor Fabio and his team at Morumbi Jiu Jitsu & Fitness Academy run the BEST program I have ever seen: Professional. Fun. Educational. Respectful. And the list goes on. I highly recommend this Academy for both adults and kids!

I started attending Morumbi BJJ in December 2020 and I LOVE it! The staff and the professors treated everyone like family. Professor Fabio is kind, playful, a great communicator, and extremely patient. He has consistently gone out of his way to make me feel like I belong. Morumbi BJJ has a coaching culture. Everyone, from white to black belt, is intent on helping others improve and succeed.

My wife and I joined the Morumbi family close to 2-1/2 years ago and couldn't be happier with that choice.Professor Fabio and his team are truly in a league of their own when it comes to creating a warm, inviting, and genuine environment to learn, train, and grow through teachings and applications from one of the best in the world of Jiu Jitsu. The Morumbi Academy was a rock for us during the pandemic. They adapted the business constantly to stay open and create a workout environment whether outdoor or indoor which continually met all that was required of them from health officials. They truly made the circumstances of the pandemic palatable from a stand point of a providing a personal outlet to focus on Jiu Jitsu training/techniques, and kettlebells. They also managed to continually offer several other training options as well.Coach Dini's kettlebell class for us creates the perfect balance between core and conditioning workouts combo'ed with the jiu jitsu classes and technique training. That combination of both the physical and mental demands really pushes us to stay motivated. We have also recently been getting our little ones into it with the intro Jiu Jitsu classes on Saturday's and they love it!We love you guys!Kou and Shelley

This place is wonderful! The staff has the perfect mix of discipline and compassion. My son (11) started in January and he loves going . He is motivated and has made quite a few friends at Morumbi. I love the exercise he gets and the mental toughness he is learning . The price is really good also , I highly recommend it . They also have adult classes which I might try , the kettlebell class looks life changing ..

Training at Morumbi has brought tremendous benefits for our family. It is a safe and motivating space where our boys are learning confidence, leadership skills and accountability they will need as they are grow up. As adults, the benefits of training at Morumbi are extremely beneficial as well. We are receiving a renewed sense of self growth, self defense preparedness, physical and mental fitness (for any style of life) and structure. Best of all, is the new family you will gain at Morumbi Academy. The Professor & staff are so kind and caring who are there to help you through your own journey.

Everyone feels welcome! Not a "Too Cool" Academy... Everyone greets you and makes you feel at home right off the bat. Most of all, the instructors are no joke. All very accomplished Martial Artists with many championships between them. Fabio Leopoldo is a 6 time WORLD Champion!!! That's pretty big... Not many world Champions in these parts.
