This location and customer service deserve 0 stars. As others have said Jonathon is aggressive, rude, hangs up the phone( 5 times, from 5 different #’s) and threatens to tow cars after he tells you where to park them after hours. ( perhaps a little kickback w/the towing company?) He threatened that we would see a HUGE charge on our CC after returning the car , for what, my friend. We took a video of that car inside and out when we rented and returned- actually it was cleaner when it was returned. Unfortunately no one in our family read the reviews regarding Avis’s unprofessional office behavior prior to picking up our rental. Do better Avis, customer service is the most importantpart of repeat business and recommendations.Jonathon is not the face, personality, or any quality of that. You can tell he hates his job!

Horrible experience with new license validation in California. If you have to go to a counter, they scan your license. Only feedback is a red or green light. If a red light they WILL NOT RENT to you, and they have no information on why the light is red. No secondary process if you get a red light. Can't believe there is no feedback on why the failure so you know what to fix or a secondary process if their primary fails. In my case, I wiped off my license on my shirt and asked them to scan again. It passed, so obviously the equipment had trouble reading a valid license and flagged it as bad.

Jonathon at the thousand oaks avis location was extremely rude, aggressive and unprofessional. Even threatened me by saying he would get my job involved and calling the cops to repo the vehicle if I didn't return my rental immediately. "You are not on a contract with us and if you were here in the store I'd take the keys from you right now!". I picked up the vehicle last month and I am on a contract renting the car with avis for three months. Already paid in full for the first month by my company. As of today they charged my credit card for THREE TIMES! This maxed out my card with total charges of about $4k. I mentioned this to him and that I have the statements from my card to prove it and refused to assist me treating me as some sort of liar. Ended up calling the 866 avis number and they were able to fix all of this and they stated there was a clerical issue made in billing on the stores end. I frequently travel for work and rent cars regularly and this has been by far the worst customer service experience ever. Who threatens their customers and behaves this disrespectfully? Never conduct business at this avis location again!

We were in a real bind, another Avis rented us a car with bad tires and we had to swap out our car in the middle of our road trip. This location made it so seamless and they were so helpful in getting us back on the road with such short notice!

Wish if I could give 0 star. Please do not choose this location at all.This AVIS location is totally unreliable. Even if we had booking confirmation, they simply said we do not have any 7 seater available and didn't provide any help. Completely UNRELIABLE, Stay away from them.

I have rented from Avis for a very long time. Robert tries is best for getting you the vehicle you desire. He is also very patient when issues come up. I highly recommend this location for car rentals.

Don't use this location. Their cars are terrible; one employee who runs around like a chicken with his head cut off - our entire experience was a mess. I'm Avis President's Club and had this been my first experience with them, I never would've returned. They really shouldn't even have the Avis name attached to them - the whole thing was atrocious. Our car was dented, dinged, and scratched, and wreaked of stale cigarette smoke. The brakes squealed and moaned like a pig that was being slaughtered. And I was told this was "an upgrade" because I had rented a premium car but they were out. A Ford Escape is not an upgrade from a premium car ... on any planet.Update: Response from owner instructs me to DM them...with what? Facebook? Instagram? TikTok? Does Google reviews have a DM feature?

Please choose any other AVIS location except for this dive.In almost all cases, when a location has a stack of negative reviews with generic positive reviews you can assume that corporate is trying to counter-balance the negative reviews with false positive reviews to stack their score. Just be aware...After 20 years renting with AVIS, this is the worst experience and worst location I've ever been to. This is directly related to the individual ROBERT. AVIS does need to investigate all the issues regarding the many complaints with this store and representatives.Robert is extremely aggressive guy, claiming the store was independently owned and he could do whatever he wanted. This was a FRAUDULENT claim. There were a number of other issues and a blatant, fraudulent claim that I will resolve with AVIS corporate but after reading the reviews here and just returning from this experience I am shocked that AVIS has not already resolved the issue with this location.There are a number of other AVIS locations surrounding our area. This was my first AND LAST time considering this location. Replace the staff, give them training on how to conduct themselves professionally and how to represent AVIS appropriately. Worse experience EVER!

Never happened like this with other car rental companiee before. We reserved the car two months ahead, and it took over two hours of waiting in their office to pickup the car. It wasn't busy. The guy, Robert was very rude too, maybe because I am a minority and a woman?
