January 2024 by Willie J.
I was bitten by bed bugs or ants back in November of 2023. They did move me to another room that wasn't affected. And promised me two free nights for the trouble. Well it's now January 2024 and they lie and dodge my calls. Manager lies constantly and even ignores IHG phone calls. New management needed ASAP!

We didn't do any room touch ups, etc but when we asked front desk for anything, we got it just fine.Rooms worked just fine for what we needed. Door locks sometimes has issues. Scan card, turns green but doesn't unlock.Breakfast buffet is simple but well stocked and kept clean. Eating area a little small, but you can take it to you room. Parking was no issue.

Should not be an IHG branded hotel- the dirtiest, least maintained HIE I've ever stayed at (at least 75 different locations). Not enough seating for breakfast, fixtures not working, mold everywhere. Should be branded a Motel 6.Nearby activities: Only redeeming quality is it is next door to an in-n-out

I flew to Los Angeles (from Honolulu) to attend the SoHyang / Jung Dong Ha concert at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula. It was a last minute decision based on my ability to purchase a ticket near the front of the stage (row EE). I could fly into Los Angeles or San Diego but flying into LAX would allow me to get to Temecula during the day. Anyway, I picked up my rental car and drove the 95-odd miles from LAX to the Holiday Inn Express (HIE) on Jefferson Avenue. Why the HIE? Because there were no rooms available at the Pechanga Resort.I arrived at HIE just before 10am because I wanted to drop off my bag. I’d seen videos and heard warnings about not leaving one’s luggage in the car. I had 5 hours to kill before I could check in at 3pm. Problem #1: They wouldn’t hold my bag. The excuse was no storage area. This is the first time this has happened; ALL hotels hold bags. So, I placed my bag behind the front seat and lowered the rear seat back to “hide” my bag. It was a SUV so leaving it in the space behind the rear seat left it in view.I returned at 3pm to find out that my room wasn’t ready; they had sold out the day before and the staff were still cleaning rooms. I had what was labeled an executive room on the 3rd floor. So, I waited (along with a few other people) and finally got the card keys to my room. I went up and entered, turned on the AC and was greeted by a stale smell. Great; this is starting out to be “wonderful”.I went to the ice machine on the 3rd floor and was greeted by a sign that said “Broken” (problem #2). I went down to the 2nd floor and couldn’t find an ice machine so I had to go to the ground floor to get ice. Back upstairs, I tried turning on the TV but the DirectTV remote didn’t do anything to the LG TV (problem #3). I fiddled around for a while and called the Front Desk. Five minutes later, someone came up and was unable to make it work. She said she’d send someone that knew more. I fiddle some more and got the TV powered using the button on the TV. The DirectTV remote would change channels but none of the other buttons worked. I had to use buttons on the TV to control the volume. The “expert” came up, looked at the remote and the TV and stated that the DirectTV remote doesn’t work with the LG TV and that the workaround I came up with was as good as it would get.I showered, laid on the bed and got ready to go to dinner. What? I have what looks like a flea bite. Great. (It was the only one, thank goodness.) The bathroom was okay … the overflow drain cover on the tub was installed upside down; I started to put in it the correct orientation but found that I would uncover a nasty stain so I left it “as is”. At least there was hot water and sufficient water pressure. The toilet flushed like a marine head. Those that have been on a cruise will know what I mean. Hey, it worked … that’s all that mattered. My room faced I-15 (100ft away) so I had to put up with freeway noise at night. Luckily, my activities made me tired enough not to care.On Saturday, I encountered a throng of people in the tiny lobby … I think they were waiting to check in. So, my experience the day prior seems to be the norm.I didn’t try the free breakfast until Sunday, check-out day. It was decent … there was a choice of sausage, biscuits and gravy, cheese omelets, breads and pastries. All I really wanted was coffee and it was decent coffee.Final thoughts … I think I could put up with the issues encountered had I not paid almost $500 for 2 nights. For $244/night, I expect more; a lot more. For $100/night, I’d give it 3 stars. For $288/night, they’re lucky to get 1 star.

This holiday inn is a little dated from the ones I am use too. Heavy smell of the pool or cleaning products when you enter. Staff is nice and everything is clean. Gym is subpar compared to other holiday inn’s. Location is pretty key tho your down the street from downtown Temecula and just across the way from prime restaurants and costco. If they updated the hotel i think it would make a big impact. Parking gets pretty full in the front, they may need to add more lighting to parking as poorly dim on the outer sites. Only other issue was its located right next to freeway if your a light sleeper this maybe an issue. Lastly Pillows on bed weren’t the best.

It's an okay place to stay, but out of the four nights we stayed, housekeeping forgot to straighten / clean our room every day except for one. The breakfast choices are pretty good, but the breakfast area was so busy that one morning we couldn't a table. The sleeping room was clean enough, but had carpet while we prefer a hard floor for cleanliness. People in some of the neighboring rooms were were unusually loud. We would stay there again, but it's not a top choice.

The outstanding feature of this hotel was the breakfast.Good food, and clean dining area. Reasonable hours. The A/C heater in our room did not work, which madefor an uncomfortable night. (3 nights). The bed was made with two sheets and a comforter. no bedspread. Housekeepingdid not show up, so we had to see the front desk for cleantowels. The room was clean, and relatively quiet, consideringthe proximity to the freeway.

Too much freeway noise. Clean comfortable beds, no Kleenex, noisy door to bathroom, nice breakfast. Weird man answered the phone when we called to do a late check in. We couldn't hear him over the loud squeaking parrots. Something that should have taken 5 minutes took 15 because he couldn't hear us over his parrots. He thought our hotel was in Washington when it was in Murietta, Ca.

Wonderful service at front desk during check in. Spacious and extremely clean rooms. Very, very comfortable bed with pillows that feel like a cloud! Roomy bathroom with plenty of dispenser soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion and fluffy towels. Perfect temperature control and lots of outlets all around. (Always love outlets at the night stands.) Room came with mini refrigerator and microwave. Nice view and many places to eat nearby. Very close to all the wonderful Temecula wineries!Rooms: So nice!

Holiday Inns are always my go to. Unfortunately this particular one was not up to the brands expected, caliber. The hallway on the third floor had a peculiar odor, so did my a/c unit. Ceiling had a large area of dark matter on it (thrown beverage?), hair in the tub, droplet of body fluid on one of the pillow cases, missing outlet cover. Front entry had a very full lint trap net, worn out and oddly painted water fountain. Lobby was nice, staff were great. We didn't settle into our room until after 10:00 p.m. too late to make other accommodations.

If I could give this hotel negative stars I would because this stay has given me a month of headaches even after I’ve checked out. They charged my card an unauthorized 1,100 and even now a month later still HAVE NOT returned my money. I would’ve happily given our stay a 4/5. The night staff (not the managers) were very friendly and accommodating. I appreciated that they gave guest their privacy. The room was decent, pretty big for my fiancé and my 2 year old son. Their breakfast was delicious! Upon checking out I got a phone call that my payment wasn’t processed, which came as a shock to me as we spent almost 2 weeks here with no issues of payment and I check my accounts regularly and they had charged my card every night we were there no problem. The night before I spoke to a gentleman at the front desk , that took my payment and said we were good to go, like they always did. Received a charge on my account and I went on with my day. Since we are IHG members we get a late check out around 1-2 pm so around 1:05 when I was trying to pack up my things and take care of my 2 year old I get a phone call to the room saying we didn’t pay for the last night. I quickly confirmed that there was a charge made to my card and that I could show them on my departure but I needed to get my son and family situated. (Real professional calling right when we are checking out). Anyways, after tending to my son and packing our car in 100 degree weather I quickly went up to the front and spoke to the gentleman that charged my card. Again he told me everything was good and that it was a mistake on their part. 2 days later my account was charged with an extra $1,100 charge after we already paid for our stay in full. Mind you this is my main card and put me in the negative as well as charged me with additional fees because of the overdraft. I have called multiple times and can never get ahold of a manager. My bank says it’s still with the merchant and it’s been in a pending status for almost a month. This has put such a stress on the last month of my life, we’ve spent over $1,000 at this hotel and now it has inconvenienced my everyday life over a month after leaving. I would really like to know who overseas this location as I will be contacting corporate. I don’t know why after the pandemic no one seems to know what customer service is anymore. We’ll let me tell you it’s not stealing $1,000 from a young family. So next time if you are thinking of booking your stay at this location I would rethink your stay. As your money/account information might be at risk and I wouldn’t want what happened to me to happen to somebody else.

Stayed at the holiday inn express on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised. By no means is this hotel "high end" and nor is it supposed to be, it is a solid hotel with enough amenities for a comfortable stay.Check in was easy and the attendant was very nice and accommodating. The room itself is large, my single bed room could easily fit another queen bed. The room has all the amenities you would need including a TV, hangers, clock, iron, blow dryer, Kureg Coffee Maker, fridge, and even a microwave. The hotel has a continental breakfast with a wide selection of pancakes, cereals, and other typical American breakfast items. I didn't personally use it but there was also a pool available for guest as well. Although my significant other was here with me, I liked that they had a separate vanity seat and mirror to allow space to make up outside of the bathroom. As the room decor was a bit dated, I would normally give this place 4-stars but one thing pushed it up to 5-star which was the service. After a long day, I was getting ready to turn in around 10:30pm and to my annoyance, I realized I didn't have toothpaste. When I went to the front desk the attendant happily helped me and provide toothpaste and even other toiletries at no extra charge. Although this place isn't the most beautiful hotel it has its service and amenities down. Everything was made available to make sure I had a comfortable stay. I've absolutely had worse experiences in more "premium" hotels. Checkout is at noon, so nice to have a few hours to sleep in vs many other hotels. Update: at 10pm on my first night, I realized my toilet didn't flush and had to use the restroom in the lobby, super inconvenient. Requested to have it fixed the next morning and they were unable to. They moved me to another room on the 2nd floor. 2nd room was smaller and even more dated then the room I originally had on the 1st floor. (Example: 1st room had a renovated shower with sliding glass doors, 2nd room had old tub with cloth shower curtain and the room felt like it was 33% smaller). Some renovation and repair is needed for this hotel, once this is done it would be a solid hotel.

The shower and the floor in the bathroom were disgusting. There was a lot of hair on the floor and inside the entire shower/tub. The shower was really dirty and the bath mat looked like someone had wiped up something dirty. When things so easily seen don't get cleaned in a hotel room, it makes wonder about the rest of the room. Did they change the bedding after the last guest or clean the toilet?Food & drinks: There is a great breakfast/lunch restaurant just down the block called Mo's Egg House.

I have to agree prices seem higher than expected but then the Motel 6 wasn't really a better deal. Overall, I was happy with my stay. I checked in on 8/12 and the gentleman at the front desk was so pleasant. The A/C was either a little too warm or cool and wasn't quiet so I would chill the room down and turn it off. My room was clean. I enjoyed the breakfast and options. The two girls working Front Desk on Sunday could take a lesson from Saturday's agent as not a greeting from those two when I approached the desk to turn in the key or thanks for staying when I was leaving. I would stay again.
