Lady said she was in charge of Kern county Salvation Army refuses to help apply for the utility assistance. This was after the lady at Lake isabella SA was incapable of helping me apply after she photo copied my DL and asked me for multiple utilities bills. I started all this April 3, 2023. They both keep asking me for utility bills and I always give them but nothing ever happens past that, 4 or 5 different times.

LaDonna is super sweet kind and helpful lady when I have struggle towards the end of the month and meeting my food needs I’m 65 on a very limited income and when I heard about the food programs I went and I just can’t think Her enough for being amazing not making me feel embarrassed cause I never thought I would be in this position but things happen and lots of wonderful people out there as when I was working & since I was a corporate executive and we are to make donations monthly to two charities, I chose the Salvation Army and the United Way. Thank you to the Salvation Army and LaDonna

Treated horribly. The young lady at the front desk is very rude. I miss Marget W. She was wonderful and caring and always treated me kindly.

The people at this salvation army deserve a reward for how great of humans they are. Year after year I have donated to this salvation army and they have always accepted all donations with open arms and cheerful attitudes.

Every year around the holidays I would find myself in a funk. I have been called a scrooge on many occasions. I felt bad for my three adult children that had to grow up that way, and was wanting to change it for my son. Christmas just wasn't about just being together, it seemed it was more about what you can buy for everyone. The stress of all the money going out at one time just wasn't enjoyable for me. I decided this year it was not going to be like this anymore and we are going to do for others now and through the year. So I met with Sandy Chavez who is the coordinator for the Salvation Army. I explained my feelings and I wanted my son to see what its like to give instead of receive. Sandy understood and invited us to volunteer anytime we wanted with the Fresh Rescue program. Five of my family members showed up at 8:30 and immediately got to work on the senior sack side. The "Senior Sack" program is the second and fourth Monday of the month. They put 60-70 sacks together for the local senior citizens. We had a great assembly line going and before long we had made all the bags. Marta then laid down table cloths, put out fresh brewed coffee, and pistachio bread for the seniors when they picked up their food. My son and I moved over to the other side of the building and helped handout produce to about 50 people in need. All the volunteers we met were so nice. Many have been involved with Salvation Army for years. We noticed that is how the Salvation Army thrives, through all the help from the volunteers. Luckily the community we live in, is a very giving community. When the Salvation Army asks for help with coats, toys, or food, they often get so much in return. I was told people come in sad, depressed, or there for community service, and start volunteering. It completely transforms them. It is a powerful thing to help someone in need. When you walk out of the grocery store and you see the red kettles and the person ringing the bell. That money goes to the turkeys for the Thanksgiving baskets. In 2019 they were able to buy over 300 turkeys, all at full price. This location has an after school program for the kids in our area. I haven't learned enough information to write about it. But you can call and they will be more than happy to give you all the information you need. My son said he really enjoyed helping out today and wants to continue doing this. Now that really makes my heart happy.
