I was up in Lake Tahoe for a conference, and I had a problem with my power steering fluid leaking. Mark helped me out on short notice by checking out the problem right away and topping off the fluid. He was happy to do a couple more checks during my stay, most importantly before I drove back to the Bay Area. Mark was very generous with his time and extremely helpful. I highly recommend Big Bear Automotive!

I have used them twice now. The oil change was just routine. When my Jeep made a screeching noise while driving it and then had a bad smell with some fluid leaking from underneath it I feared the worst. But after dropping it in they found the problem and replaced my air conditioning compressor that had seized.Services: Auto engine diagnostic

Our car needed a new battery last second before we headed back from Tahoe City to San Francisco. Mark and his team are fantastic car mystery solvers and thanks to them, I'm back to cruising around with peace of mind! Have a 15 year old Subaru that had been leaking coolant intermittently for several months, never catastrophic but enough to have semis passing me going over donner. Another mechanic had spent four hours searching for a leak and found nothing. I brought it into Mark and right off the bat, appreciated that he was willing to listen to me explain the issue thoroughly. Sometimes I feel so rushed in shops, but that was not the case here. Within a couple of hours he had diagnosed the issues (which, thankfully, were minor) and I was out the door and on the road. Pricing was perfectly fair and I would recommend him to anyone in the area! Thank you Big Bear!

I have a car and a truck and they both have four wheels on them and they all spin around and around, because Mark has always kept these heirlooms running for years and years and years, what a cool guy! He's the most honest mechanic I've ever met that's why I only go to him because he doesn't charge me for other crap that I don't need!

Mark and his staff are always professional and do great work. Had my truck lifted/aligned here and some other work. They had it ready in less than one day both times and the cost of the labor was extremely reasonable. Mark is patient and always happy to explain or answer any questions related to the requested work. Highly recommend Big Bear for any automotive work.

I brought my truck into Big Bear automotive in July to have my power steering pump fixed as it was leaking power steering fluid. I was charged $430 dollars for a diagnostic and a tightening of the valves. Fast forward a month and the power steering leak persisted. I called Mark and explained what had happened and asked if he could give me a fair deal/price to repair the pump given that the leaking persisted. He was unwilling to negotiate as he would still have to run another expensive diagnostic. I’m just another local trying to make ends meet working in the service industry and simply don’t have a the time or resources to pay for another expensive fix when I thought it was taken care of initially. I was disappointed with his service and will not be returning to this auto shop.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Mark did a great job troubleshooting an electrical issue with the turn signals on my older Honda Accord by finding a reasonable and relatively inexpensive solution. He also recharged the air conditioning, which now works great! I was expecting an expensive fix for both items and he did the work for a reasonable price and had the car ready in 24 hours. Highly recommend!
