Once we got there we did not want to leave it is so peaceful. We saw an Eagle and Osprey. The fishing was not in our favor when we were there but next time I am renting or bringing my own boat.

Ice and other necessities are available here, as well as snacks, drinks, and fishing supplies. The lake level has come up a lot, but there is still a long way to go to get back to the levels from the 60's and 70's. It is nice to see water in some of the places I used to fish. Places that have been above the water line for years.

Eagle Lake is back! The ramp is “adequate”. Gets busy between 6am and 7am. Fishing is well worth it.

The fish in this lake are amazing! Unfortunately drought has severely impacted the water levels. He had the opportunity to ride along with the department of fish and wildlife as they spawned the Eagle Lake Trout. Because of the low water levels these fish can no longer go up Pine Creek and spawn naturally or make it to the fish traps for human spawning. As a result the department of fish and wildlife must go out and use electric shockers to stun the trout and spawn them on the banks in the lake. The eagle lake trout are unique To California. They’ve adapted to the high alkaline levels in Eagle Lake. Some say these trout taste just like salmon and they have some of the most beautiful colors. You can also see the effects of the drought at the boat ramp the water is so low that you can see the end of the ramp

The low water launch ramp was open as of July 17, 2021 but trailers have to be backed completely off the ramp to launch and retrieve. Be careful.

I am an evacuee from Lake Alamanor and a friend who is a fire fighter told us we can go to Merrill campground at Eagle lake and camp for free. It was also stated in a Dixie fire update by Deb Bumpus and in an article naming Brian Newman, to contact for information. Both of these people work in the forestry department. I explained all of this and showed the camp hosts the article and video. They informed me they have to follow whatever directions their boss, Scott McCalla tells them. The next day, Scott showed up at my campsite and I explained everything and he basically said it wasn't true and I received false information. The next day I called Brian Newman and he told me that he was talking to Scott about putting campsites together for evacuees. My husband told Scott that we contacted Brian and he told us that he was talking with you/him about putting spots together for evacuees and he just nodded his head and said ya. "But whose gonna pay my water bill or electricity". Are you kidding me? That was his response! Scott McCalla doesn't own this campground or lake. His boss is Lassen Community College. I will be contacting them next after I post more on different platforms about what Scott McCalla did to us, evacuees from the Lake Almanor area/ Dixie fire August 2021.

Love this place and I always have. Eagle Lake is my home away from home. The Marina always has wonderful customer service and they have anything you need while camping. Don't forget to grab an ice cream too!
