“Trustworthy mechanics are hard to find, so don't overlook the folks at Japanese Beetle. They work on most (all?) Japanese cars and will work to find issues with your car. Highly recommend this place for manufacturers recommended service intervals instead of the dealership service department.”

“Dylan's engineering is THE place to go for your classic, vintage, high-end or sports car needs. They are a young team but very well-versed in their incredible knowledge and experience. This husband + wife team are very accommodating and work with you to keep you involved as much or as little as you want during their assessment process and repair. Cars are their passion and customer care is always a priority. They actually came to our home and worked with my husband on his Nova in our garage since it was up on blocks and not drivable yet. If need be, they can pick up your vehicle and tow it to their shop too. Quick turnaround times, depending on the project. But you can tell their business is what they eat, sleep and breathe! You won't be disappointed.”

“I was really surprised how easy the whole process was to getting a new transmission. Now I am ready to sell my 2006 Mazda 5. But I am still attached emotionally to my car. I hope I sell it to somebody that will care for it.”

“I have had horrible luck with mechanics. As a woman who isn't car-savvy, I can't help but feel like other mechanics take advantage of this and charge me for unnecessary repairs. I took my car in to Made in Japan late last year for a 2nd opinion on some extremely expensive repairs done by another mechanic (De Anza Auto Repair) that I had been told by other mechanics was not necessary. Luckily I spoke with Nicky (sic?), a fellow woman, who made me feel a lot better about the chunk of change I forked out. The techs did a general inspection of my car and it got a clean bill of health. The bill wasn't bad either for the inspection compared to De Anza Auto. Then the horrible winter storms happened in January and suddenly I found myself driving my car to Made in Japan with a leaking roof. They were fast, efficient, organized, communicative, and kind while working with me and my insurance to repair the water damage in my car's interior. They were reasonable with regard to cost - about half the cost of what I was paying at De Anza Auto. And then this morning (10/24) my car would not start. Nicky and a tech (I'm so sorry, I forgot his name) came to my apartment (!!!) to jump my car and they themselves drove my car to the shop so that I didn't have to deal with a tow truck. Throughout this ordeal they were communicative and explained what was going on to me in terms that I could understand. They quickly got my car back to me before the end of the work day. And THEN about 30 mins after picking up my car, it would not fully start in my grocery store parking lot. Nicky and another tech drove all the way from Made in Japan to my grocery store, after their work hours, to see what was going in with my car. They were able to figure it out and I was able to drive home without the same issue happening. They were so kind to me and didn't make me feel bad at all for coming all the way out to my neck of the woods. The professionalism, friendliness, efficiency, and kindness they have shown towards me has changed the way I view going to the mechanic. They aren't trying to rip me off, and I can tell through their actions. The fact they drove to my location TWICE in one day (my neighborhood is pretty far from the shop, too) is noteworthy and commendable. They actually care about their customers, unlike other auto shops. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Made in Japan. Thank you, Nicky, Sean (sic?), and the technician team for treating me and your customers with respect always.”

“I had an interesting morning when my check engine light came on far from home. Luckily I had the pleasure of discovering Raymond. He fixed my 2011 Volvo up so I could get home. I ended up needing a new ignition coil and spark plug replacements. I also needed an oil change (not a normal service) but Raymond did this no questions asked. The pricing was great at Car Clinic. But the key take away was the service. It’s obvious that Raymond takes pride in his trade. He is honest, knowledgeable, talented and over all a great guy. I live in the east bay but will be making the extra long drive for my car services moving forward. A bad morning turned into a great day! Thanks Raymond!Service: General repairs & maintenance”

“My wife needed someone to diagnose and fix a misfiring cylinder on her car. HAJ was very conveniently open on Sunday so we thought that we would try them. While the shop's surroundings are very modest and don't necessarily inspire confidence, the work they did was great and we will be repeat customers. They were very methodical and thorough like old-school mechanics. They isolated the problem by swapping parts between cylinders until the problematic component could be identified. They ultimately discovered a dirty fuel injector, so they cleaned all 4. Their prices are reasonable and they did not rush. We also never had pressure to buy unnecessary parts and services. We're happy to have found a good mechanic in our neighborhood.”

“I needed to have a new radiator installed in an older Honda Odyssey and remembered I'd had a friend who always took her Honda to Hondacraft. So I went to see if they could do the job, get a cost estimate, and, perhaps, receive some advice. Upon my arrival, Vi, the owner of Hondacraft, welcomed me as a potential customer, recommended that I buy a radiator on the Internet and quoted me a very competitive price for just the installation work. This turned out to be a really cost-effective way to go. I ordered the radiator (a CSF 2604 from CarParts.com). Meanwhile, I studied various YouTube videos showing how to perform this particular installation and concluded it wouldn't be wise to attempt the job myself. So, the morning after my new part arrived, Vi did the installation for me immediately. Everything was as we had discussed and there were no surprises. This lifted a big worry off of my shoulders and I couldn't have been happier. Vi had warned me that if I didn't replace the radiator as soon as possible, the overheating resulting from failure of the original radiator could cause other components to fail, leading to a need for much more expensive repairs. So, I was grateful he was able to steer me in the right direction and complete the install so promptly. For me, the bottom line is that I wouldn't hesitate to go to Hondacraft in the future, and I recommend it to anyone else who's looking for good value and prompt, knowledgeable, competent service!”
