No longer bank of the west, now it's BMO Bank and the management is terrible. Can't even reach by phone, been playing tag with the company trying to get a return call for over a week. Will be leaving BMO bank due to this single poor branch.

Peter and Carmen are about it, for nice here. The keep sending direct withdrawls out the the account, to rack up fees is bad businesss. A twenty year direct deposit customer, they sent it to collections. Where did my stimulus checks go? Eaten by fees, bad money grubbing covid business.Bet it had to do with the 401k I put into Fidelity, instead of their moneymarket. Thank you for not being in Louisiana.

I've been with Bank of the West for over 30 years ... until now. I'm actively looking around to find a new bank. This will be a major headache for me, but I'm so disappointed with this particular branch, and this particular branch manager. I wanted help filling out a Bank of the West form, i wasn't sure what information they were asking me for. The bank manager, was incredibly rude, refused to even look at the form (THEIR form) and said he couldn't give me legal advice. I was NOT asking for legal advice. I wanted help deciphering their poorly worded form. He literally wouldn't even make an attempt. Rude and unhelpful. Don't go here. Note: The tellers were totally fine and friendly, i feel sorry for them working at this branch

The people at the branch are fine, but their phone service will not answer when you call, until very late. I waited over an hour, called several times still no answer.

On their website and bank location, both have their hours posted from 9am-5pm. I went to the bank around 4:15pm and the bank is closed without having a sign of their new closing hours.

Has poor processes for minimizing social distancing. Upon entering bank there are squares on the floor six ft. apart directing you around a curve towards and into a waiting line for the tellers. The last 15 ft. are so are roped off to be about four ft. wide by caution tape. Fine. But when you exit, you have to go back past anyone waiting in line face-to-face. Difficult to believe. When I couldn't hear a teller, he took off his mask to talk to me. While waiting in a chair later to deal with the new accounts person, two tellers had taken off their masks. One was singing and cleared her throat.

Got a reimbursement check for $9.79. Try to cash it, they said they charge $9.50 if you don't have an account with them and tried to convince me to open an account. No thanks.

This is the worst bank! Dealing with these people is a nightmare. They can't even understand what "close my account" means. And the corporate office is now charging me a $10/month inactivity fee for an account they refuse to close. A complete mess!

I opened an account at this branch of Bank of the West because I was looking for a medium-size bank (I won't deal with big crook banks anymore) and because the branch in Mountain View is a joke (it's full of lazy and incompetent employees). One advantage of this location was that the bank was open on Saturdays but it stopped doing that for at least 2 years or even more. That was a plus which they took away so it was quite disappointing. At this branch, over the years, Mrs. Thompson has been very courteous and she helped me to resolve a few issues on a few occasions. However, since I learned that BotW is owned by BNP Paribas which is a French bank and I'm allergic to French, I started to think about closing my account. After that I did some research and I also found out that BNP Paribas has been fined 9.3 billion dollars for the 2008 sub-prime mortgage mess that screwed up many lives around the country and around the world (figure from February 2018). Not too long ago my credit card has been compromised and I had to spend at least 3 hours of my time to gather information and do homework for the bank (instead of the bank doing it for me). Basically, somebody stole money from me and I had to fill out some paperwork. When I received the affidavit to make a declaration it was already sent late. I called the phone number to make a statement and then I went to the branch. Mrs. Thompson helped in the process of faxing the affidavit and I received a confirmation. I must have spent 30 to 45 additional minutes. Since the documents were mailed 10 days before I received them and they requested me to send them to the bank in 10 days, I told Mrs. Thompson that there was a chance the bank would complain about timing but, honestly, if the documents came late, there was not much I could do about it. She assured me that they fax confirmation was sufficient. Sure enough, shortly after that I received another letter, once again late, that told me I would not get provisional credit because they did not receive information. The letter was sent 10 days before and they asked me to reply with an affidavit in 10 days (I already filled and faxed the affidavit). I e-mailed Mrs. Thompson about the situation and I pointed out I spent enough time on the issue. I also pointed out that the timing they considered for sending and receiving documents was unrealistic and impractical. After that things settled quickly and I got the credit for the money that some crook stole from me. I have been thinking about closing my account with this bank for a while. I am an ethical investor and I will not allow any bank that has been involved in the 2008 sub-prime mortgage mess handle my money (banks like Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and others). Most people are too lazy to think the way I do. Ethics and investing are mutually inclusive so I had to be honest with myself and do the right thing. I decided to move on and leave BotW behind me.
