The hotel is clean, small but clean. Little grab and go store they have is highway robbery. The street it's located on isn't clean and had some sketchy people about. The location was very ideal to Universal. 10 min walk, and you catch the tram to the park.
Nearby activities: Universal studios
Walkability: To Universal studios

Nearby activities: Walking distance to or from Universal Studios
Safety: Not too safe to walk under the bridge (tunnel) when walking to or from Universal Studios. Nothing to do with the hotel but the city has to find a solution to clean up the tunnel
Food and drinks: Nice spot to grab snacks and drinks. Also has a separate bar
Noteworthy details: Be prepared to pay for overnight parking

I had a one-night stay at BLVD Hotel. Generally, I’m satisfied with my experience, but I’m not sure I would book again unless I had similar circumstances (I attended a Hollywood Bowl concert, and the shuttle pickup is basically right across the street). I’ll address feedback I saw from other recent reviews.
Someone said they had bad experiences with the staff. The staff was attentive, polite, and always greeted me when I came and went. I arrived hours before standard check-in and the front desk let me check in without any hassles.
Someone said the rooms are in a poor state. My room was pre-remodel, and had a lot of wear. However, there was nothing functional that was broken, just wear and tear. Also, in regard to the room, the King room I was in was HUGE. 2-3x as large as the last Hilton-brand hotel I stayed in the LA area. I didn’t see any bed bugs. My bed was clean. The bathroom was clean. The window both had locks, and was locked. My room had no curtains, but had plantation shutters. The AC unit is loud, but the Ventura-facing rooms also face the freeway, so you want some noise.
Someone commented on the unhoused population. This is true. I walked from the hotel over to the Universal Hollywood shuttle pickup. There were a couple of individuals I walked by, but they generally kept to themselves. Give the space and respect. There was an individual sleeping at the base of the building when I returned from the concert at around 11:30pm. They were well away from the hotel entrance, and I did not feel unsafe.
Overall, for the location and the price, I was satisfied with my experience.

Location was convenient to Universal Studios as advertised. We walked to the park in about 15 minutes! Check in receptionist was friendly, but the experience was odd when they force you to sign up for advertisements and also you must agree to pay a $21 employee surcharge so they can compensate their employees appropriately. Deceiving practice that should be incorporated in the rate. If they did not have this in place, I would have rated 4 stars. Just the principle of forcing guests to pay a ridiculous fee who clearly book here as it’s the cost friendly alternative to staying right near the park is not cool. Get a smoothie from the Sun Cafe next door, they’re great! Hotel has a strange smell. Rooms are clean and fine for a short stay. The shower head is covered in green mold so maybe allocate some of the $21 guests pay to getting those cleaned. This surcharge placed on to guests to pay employees is getting out of hand. I understand the economic impact businesses have faced, but it’s also impacted customers. We still ended up paying close to $300 for a mediocre motel experience.

Exactly as they describe, just a short walk from the bottom of the hill of Universal. The room was great we had a waterfall shower, bed was comfy everything you would need after a long day at the park. There's a self-serve Mart inside the lobby if you fogot something and a barber
Rooms: Comfy bed, updated bathroom, solid AC
Nearby activities: Walkable to universal studios tram, and food
Walkability: Close to a few restaurants, fastfood and a liquor store

Parking is pretty hefty at $35/day after taxes. Plus a resort daily fee of almost $20/day.
Toilets literally clogged everytime we used them…never have seen this happen so much lol. Showers were not fantastic and didn’t work great. They had one bottle of conditioner attached to the wall, but didn’t have body wash or shampoo next to it, just the attachments stuck to the wall…looked pretty tacky. Luckily we had already planned ahead and brought our own.
It technically is walkable to Universal Studios, but the roads are super busy with cars driving by really fast. If we had kids with us, I would have been nervous walking the sidewalks there. It’s a lot of uphill walking as well. We took a Lyft for about $10 each way because of how hot it was during our stay.
Lighting in the room is awkward and most of the lamps wouldn’t turn on (I didn’t want to move all the furniture to plug them in if they weren’t already).
WiFi worked about 30% of the time. Kicked us off a lot and was slow when we were connected. Would have been fine as I have unlimited data, however, there’s barely any cell service in the area.
Bed was comfortable, sheets were just cheap and didn’t stay on the bed well.
Overall, very average stay but we did end up spending more than originally planned for/saw on our quote as well as paid about $50 on Lyft.

It's a 20-25 mins walk to Hollywood City walk. Instead it's a 7 mins walk to the universal studios shuttle service. So that's good.

+ great location -- 30 minutes walk to the universal studio
- They charge $21 per room per night additionally. I suspect they did this to make their room rate more appealing. Kinds of deceiving.
- The property is very close to the highway thus very noisy even at night.

Room adequate, bed too soft sinks down. Hwy traffic sound is constant. Heard gunshots one of the nights here nearby..
Lamps come with a plugin power but so loose devices don't stay plugged in. A litre of water from the self serve store is $7.25, get bottled water from the subway up a block.
