Local artists exhibit and sell their artworks. Like Big Sur, there is a local concentration of artists and plenty of patrons to buy. Check it out.

One of the best art collections in the area. Truly interesting and high quality. If one wants something historic, the vintage art show posters are very affordable. As are some crafts, and books...amazing textile art! even vintage aprons...One of-a-kind art ranges from regional ceramicists, printmakers and painters, to widely-acclaimed sculptors Italo Scanga and (the younger) Giuseppe Palombo; and a piece or two of famous glass artist Chihuilly.

I love Claudia Chapline Gallery because it's not you average art gallery. When first arriving you walk through a sculpture garden, passing by a small pop up gallery that is constantly featuring new artists. Once at the main building there are two sections to the gallery. On the left hand side is Claudia's personal works of art, ranging from interesting scultures to thought provoking paintings. On the right, Claudia features art work that she has personally picked out from all over the world. If you are visiting Stinson this is a must see!

I love this gallery. It's been around for 30 years and the owner, Claudia Chapline is a very interesting woman. She has a rich history of work in dance, textiles, poetry, sculpture, and two dimensional art. I recommend stopping by to meet her and have her describe the works of the artists in the beautiful sculpture garden and in the gallery itself. If you are into eclectic art, this is the place to see it. About the review of her being grumpy--Claudia had lost her artist husband, Harold Schwarm just a few months earlier. She's doing better now.

A few times during the last year, I went to this gallery searching for a nice piece of art. There was never anyone there to answer questions. When the owner finally emerged, she seemed irritated with my questions which were quite basic including questions about the art and the the prices. I found the sculptures in the front to be quite distasteful. Though there were some pieces inside I liked, the grumpy owner was a turn off and I won't be returning.

This is a cool gallery to browse. It has an inside section where the works of several artists are displayed (mostly locals), including the paintings of Claudia Chapline herself. The first time I went here the nice gentleman gave us a tour of the inside and the outside and even looked up the names of the artists whose works were displayed in the sculpture garden, which I was most curious about. The sculpture garden is way cool- there are ceramic, metallic creations (lot of cats, dogs) figures, and other mixed media creation. Check it out! It's free and open I believe Sat and Sundays. Though I haven't bought a painting here the price ranges is pretty decent.

I have always loved the outdoor gallery at Claudia Chapline! Someday when I buy that huge house on the hill and have acres of hillside to fill in with art (oh, yeah, and plants and green things of course), I'll come here to shop. In the meantime, it's a great place to browse. It feels a bit like an oasis from the busy streetside of downtown Stinson Beach. Lots of cool ceramics and metal sculptures outside. Some ceramics and mixed media and a lot of paintings and photography inside. Nice light space for looking at art. Items for many different budgets. Downside is the volume of paintings stacked against the walls or in "flip-files". Claudine is charming and personable but pretty much stays out of your hair unless you engage her.
