Was told they are a new brick and mortar shop and that they get their cars from auctions in Oceanside...all fine and dandy.... BUT when I asked about whether the car has been seen by a mechanic, he said NO. That's a deal breaker to a prospective buyer!

If you're looking for a used car at a good price from honest people who are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you're happy with your purchase, John and Shakori are your guys. I just bought a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid from them. The car drives great, but with 154K miles, naturally it needed a little TLC in the repairs department. John and Shakori went out of their way to help me get the repairs done quickly and at a fraction of the cost of the dealer estimate. No pressure, no games, and customer service that would be hard to beat. I couldn't be happier with my "new" car or the buying process. I would definitely buy from them again. Also, wrt other reviewers opinions about the place, it's your job as the buyer to have a used car inspected by a mechanic. That's why dealers let you do that (John and Shakori were very accommodating of this), and that's one of the reasons why contract cancellation options exist. Even if they did have it inspected by a mechanic, you should STILL have it inspected by your own mechanic. My inspection at the Honda dealer cost me $170, a worthwhile expense if only for peace of mind before plunking down thousands of dollars on an 11-yo car with 154K miles on it.
