Well, I have been shopping at this feed store since 2003, so 20 years. I shopped with the previous owners, and stayed with them when Sam bought the business, and through his learning curve and challenges as a feed store owner. We mostly purchase hay at this feed store, and we have experienced all kinds of things in the hay, the regular rocks and sticks, but also trash, and one time even underwear! As we had these experiences, we never once complained. We would just shift our hay purchases elsewhere, and Sam would lose our business for a while. This feed store happens to be the closest to our place, so we go back and get hay when convenient for us. I purchased two bales of alfalfa 9/27/23, and found it again to be TRASH HAY..... literally. I went in and spoke with Sam, and discussed with him the loss of our best goat, due to a blockage, and explained to him that styrofoam and other trash is NOT digestible for animals. He said that goats are able to eat anything!! This is absolutely not true, and if he doesn't know this, then he has no business buying hay or feed for animals.I brought in my receipt for $43.98 for the two bales, and a ziplock bag with *some* of the trash collected from the bales, now 1/2 bale remaining. I asked him what he thought was fair to do. I called my husband, and he thought that it would be fair to refund the money I paid for the two bales, $43.98. I asked Sam to give me a refund for $43.98, and he said this was "not fair." He was first unwilling to give ANY refund, then refund of $18, then $20, then the price of one bale, $21.99, or give me another bale of trash hay. I walked away. What is fair? Hard to say what is fair. God is our Judge. Mine and his both. We won't be back to Sam's store, Ranch Feed and Supply ever again.Be extremely discerning about where you purchase hay to feed your beloved animals. Know that when you throw flakes in their feeders, that you are providing them with the best possibly available, and not some trash that he gets cheaper to make more profit. He has to deal with what he is doing as a business man and as a person, and I dont know how he can sleep at night, but that's on him.I am posting this here after exhausting all other means available to me to solve this problem, and as a public service to people who love their animals, so you all dont have losses and learn the hard way. I'm really sorry to have to post this, as I usually refrain from posting bad reviews, but this one is well-deserved.
