They have closed the showroom in San Marino due to pandemic and the office is now in Thousand Oaks. If you want high quality, genuine made in Japan wood furniture, this is the place.

What a pleasant surprise visiting OOKKUU's showroom for the first time. Their world is filled with unique, contemporary furniture and objects, all beautifully crafted in Japan. My husband and I learned so much from Hubert, who passionately told us the story of each single item. We sat, felt and held many of the stunning pieces and fell in love. We are looking forward to going back soon to see their new collection.

We just bought our DREAM chair from Ookkuu. I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this gem! The owners are so great, and helped us with every part of the process. We stopped by numerous times to sit in a few different chairs and to finally decide which one we wanted to purchase. It's being hand crafted in Japan as I write this! Both my husband and I fell in love with Japanese design and craftsmanship a few years ago on our first trip to Japan. Since then, we've been drawn to various Japanese shops and stores around LA. There are a couple great shops for housewares around southern California - but we never found a shop that carried Japanese made furniture. My husband happened upon Ookkuu's website while looking for lighting - and we were shocked to find that they carried a number of items by famous Japanese architects and industrial designers that we'd never imagined we'd find in the states. We're lucky to have this shop in South Pasadena - I don't think there's a shop like it elsewhere in the states. Their showroom is on the second floor of an office building, don't be fooled - they love walk-ins! The showroom is small - but they carry quite a few of the items from their website. It's amazing what they can fit in there. It's definitely worth a visit to see these pieces in person. They also have a few small items like glassware, incense, plates and paper lanterns. They get new pieces in pretty regularly - so it's nice to go back often. Can't say enough great things - we'll be back when we decide to make our next purchase!

A beautiful, masterfully curated store, with inspiring furniture and passionate owners. Alison and Hubert are kind, thoughtful, articulate, and incredibly knowledgeable. It's hard to communicate what a distinctive and exceptional experience you'll have visiting their store. I deeply cherish the conversations and visits that I've had with Alison and Hubert. To my knowledge, you won't find any of these lines carried anywhere in the United States. It's difficult to wrap your head around how spectacular the quality of the craftsmanship is without investigating the furniture in person. Do it! Made our first purchase and we're looking forward to many more. Get in there!

Classy, innovative, MCM inspired beauties live in this little hidden showroom. Each piece of furniture was designed and crafted in Japan. Alison and Hubert, who clearly spent much of their lives in Japan, are incredibly gracious and obviously passionate about their products and clients. These two truly went above and beyond customer service to help me. Don't be deterred by the "create an account" on their site. It turned into an interesting way for them to know who I was before visiting, plus it let me preview all of the prices. It feels so wonderful to know that people who care so much about quality and functional design are actually within reach. ;)
