Sure it's cute, but on Valentine's Day we arrived 2min past 4:30, they close at five mind you, to grab a milkshake and admire the place but apparently they close the soda fountain part of the pharmacy down early and wouldn't bother to just make one milkshake, after telling them we drove an hour specifically to come there. It seems that customers is dead, even at a nostalgic place, such as Fair Oaks pharmacy.

This place was a blast from the past. But the blast was controlled, and it only affected me, and it gave me some bruises and scratches. The blast was not overwhelming but still so strong that I felt like I had to give this place five stars. Maybe I am feeling generous cause I visited on my vacation so I had the presence of mind to taste it as a whole, and not just judge it by a single taste. One time I was watching tv and an egg cream was ordered. I thought, what exactly is an Egg Cream and how is egg involved in the process. But here I found out that an egg cream has nothing do with eggs. It is simply chocolate milk with seltzer. I am sorry I spoiled someone's future discovery by describing that an egg cream does not have actual egg in it. I loved how I discovered what an egg cream actually is. The chocolate milk seltzer combo was unique, yet I do not crave it a new. Although, I loved ice-cold, chocolate milk. But, hey, I get to say I had it. I also had a small cookie lover's sundae. It was not the actual name, but, it is close enough in spirit to know. The cookie Sunday was good but nothing to say grand things about. I guess, I selected this item because I love cookies and creams ice cream but this was more ice cream with choc. chip chunks not with Oreos, as I expect cookies and ice cream to be. Then I heard another customer with kids order a coffee milkshake. My interest was piqued. I ordered it and it was a vanilla milkshake with brewed coffee mixed in. I am a coffee lover and a milkshake lover so I could not go out without trying the concoction of two items I loved. And this milkshake was the cat's meow. It was not coffee ice cream, it was ice cream with brewed coffee mixed in. I suspect that this is how they made blended ice creams around the 1915's cause they yet not had the technology to blend the two. So I felt like I did go back to the past for a sip and swirl. The stores have knick knacks. I bought two things. I bought a magnet with a reminder to live life without expectations and I try to. It was a grand pick. I also bought a kalediscope. I used it and I loved it. Then I lost it. It is probably under my car. I would totally go back to this place if I was in the area. I would not necessarily make a trip out there. You should though. It has different concoctions like a coke Sundae with coke gummies. It also has a working pharmacy which was kind of awesome. The drawback is that the fountain can get crowded. So you might not find a stool for you. And you might have to wait and deal with awkwardness of who goes first. But feel like a kiddo again, and have an egg cream or a spoonful of ice cream, I did, and I was happy I did it.

The most nostalgic soda fountain I've ever been to. So many fun retro things to look at. The decoration is gorgeous and the sundaes, shakes and sodas are delicious!!! I can't get enough of this place!

Yesterday I had a fabulous experience with Fair Oaks Pharmacy. I have not been mobile for a month due to a fractured knee. I needed medication and had no way to pick it up at my pharmacy. After researching pharmacies in my local area, I came across Fair Oaks Pharmacy who delivers. My doctor sent my prescription to Fair Oaks and I was set up as a new client. It's now 4:00 pm and they close at 5:00 pm. I was assured my medication would be delivered the same day. It got to be 6:00 no meds. At 6:15 pm I got a call saying the meds had arrived and they were being brought to my front door. It turns out it was the pharmacist, yes, the pharmacist who delivered the meds since their driver had not shown up for work. I applaud Fair Oaks Pharmacy for their dedication to excellent customer service. I will now become a regular customer.

Besides being very rude, this woman that runs this pharmacy is unethical. She shared my information with the local Rite Aid pharmacy, telling untruths and gossip about me. I really don't how businesses/pharmacists like this woman stay in business, and don't get their license suspended or revoked. I don't know if sharing information on customers is unethical, or actually against the law. Also, she told me that my insurance company told her to tell me that I had to buy all my prescriptions from one place...LOL. I am sure my insurance would have told me, not her if this was accurate. How dumb she shows she really is. The local Rite Aid in South Pasadena made a lot of problems for me after this woman gossiped about me to them. Hence, I stopped going to both places. And, the Rite Aid followed me making trouble to the new pharmacy I bought from. This occurred quite a while back, and still now and then a couple of pharmacies I have gone to the trouble they made follows me. I am a senior citizen with chronic physical health problems, and I don't need the problems these two pharmacies in South Pasadena have caused me. Neither of them have any respect, or care for customers as you would think these co-called health care workers should have. It just goes to show what our society in Southern CA, and all over the country has come to. No good, at all anymore. I would suggest avoiding this place, both of these pharmacies at all costs. They have no respect, rude, VERY rude, obviously unprofessional, and unethical. Man, I wish I wish I had never gone to either, but this Fair Oaks Pharmacy is the one that started to whole thing. She Armenian rude lady that runs the place started it all. OH, I feel so sorry for her assistants. From just the time I was going there, two or three months time she went through three workers. Its a tiny place and they work right under her nose, and they acted scared to say anything she didn't want them to say. When she was telling me that my insurance had her to tell me I had to get all my medicines from one pharmacy, I said "That sounds strange", and she yelled at me and said "No, its not strange". And, her assistant acted scared of her and said "Yes, something new"...LOL Also, I had refills on prescriptions in her computer system that she deleted. I didn't want to deal with her anymore about it, so I let it go and called my doctor and told him about her, and they refilled them at a whole new pharmacy. Doctor told me to just move on and not deal with her. And, I did that for a couple of years, but I think this must be told, as the public should know there are many unethical businesses out there. You shouldn't just walk in and think you private, and personal information is safe just because it should be.

5 stars! Everything we were hoping for in an old fashion nostalgic blast from the past old school Soda Fountain that makes old fashion sodas! We had a rootbeer float and an old fashion coke made the old school way. The coke for everyone wondering did not taste as sweet and carbonated as the coke you know today. I actually loved it and how different it tasted and can't wait to go back and try all the different flavors and sodas that you can't really get anywhere else in Southern California or even on the West Coast? The gentlemen who was making the drinks was really friendly and professional and holding the fort down for the 15 or so people inside drinking and eating ice cream. He actually looked positive and happy to work there which also made you feel good to be there as well. There is free parking for a few hours around the back if anyone was wondering and yes they were playing all the classic legendary hits from the jukebox of 1940's and 1950's! I love the movie Back to The Future and this place gave me those awesome nostalgic vibes when Marty went back to 1955! We'll definitely go back and try ALL the flavors!

Justin was very helpful and Brandon made the best chocolate malt (with sour patch kids on top) and root beer float. Love this place!

I'm almost too sad to leave a review. It's like the owners want to deliberately go out of business. It's nothing like it used to. My son and I visited yesterday and gone was everything that made this place a joy to visit. I didn't even find anything worth buying, and that's a rarity for me lol. All they serve mow is ice cream, and it's so basic you might as well just buy a tub of Breyers and stay home. No more waffle sundaes! At least bring the waffles back so that it's worth the drive and effort. As it stands, anyone can get a scoop of ice cream with fudge and whipped cream, anywhere. There's no more novelty here. It's just muerto. I'm so disappointed.

Good on the ice cream quality and friendly service, but it's sadly not the true pharmacy and soda counter from years past. I realize it's very difficult to truly have the places we had back then such as the classics like Schwab's (LA), Watson's (Orange) and Harriman Jones (Long Beach).

A truly classic soda/coffee shop. Great flavors, friendly service, 50's music and tons of old times candy and nostalgia. The real deal.

In today’s corporate environment, profits have replaced genuine customer care and satisfaction. Chain pharmacies are under pressure to do more prescriptions, with less staff, and that’s why we have long lines and less quality care. It’s breath of fresh air to see pharmacies like Fair Oaks have survived, and are still providing complete service, with a kind pharmacist and their dedicated staff. Fair Oaks is one of the last remaining pharmacy in southern California, that truly care about their patients. I can not find anything but praise for the staff, who provide my mom with all her needed medication.

I have a question. "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE?" Did ownership change? Was the plan to drive this wonderful place into the ground??? If so, the plan is totally working. It used to be so fun to go here on a Saturday evening or a Sunday afternoon to share an ice cream sundae with my boy. We used to adore it! Then we'd look at all the fun collectibles, silly stuff in the gift shop. Such a fun experience. This place is a total disaster now. Avoid it like the plague!

A bit of a tourist trap. The history and nostalgic feeling make it worth visiting. Candies and toys that just about every generation will remember from childhood. Ordering a soda, takes you back in time to the way the soda shop used to be. It helps you understand the culture and draw as a place to gather and hang out.The staff was extremely talkative and informative. Phosphorus soda wasn't our favorite, but it was something that I would encourage everyone to try.

It's a cute soda fountain and pharmacy located in South Pasadena on Historic Route 66. Ended up taking a day off during the week. Wish they had better hours. Saturday they are only open until 1PM and closed on Sunday. Monday through Friday only open until 5:00 PM. Could have another cashier on staff as the cashier and soda person was the same so had to wait until they finished with any sodas or shakes if you want to buy any items or souvenirs from the store.
