Meeks is great and the team at the counter are really helpful. They get busy, sure, and they're a little short staffed, but they're doing their best and will go above and beyond as much as they can. Jose, Dave, Chris, and the lovely Kat & Mary are all amazing. The ONLY reason I would consider taking off one star is the screeched "hi, welcome to Meeks!" that one of the workers shouts any time you walk into the store - usually from a distance (and way too loud to be genuine). It's really jarring and off-putting. It makes the start of your customer experience a little disruptive... Thanks, Meeks, for all of the help over the years. We'll be back soon.

Unbelievable....!! Went to buy 4 thin trim boards. ( 1/2 " thick ) Once I located in yard ( by myself ) I went in to pay. I had to go back outside to get sku # for sales guy. 160.00 for 4 trim pieces. ( Home Depot is 94.00 ) Meeks allow for one free cut. But he wanted to charge me for 3 cuts. HSE ( sales ). He explained there's 4 boards so there's an additional cost for 3 additional cuts. I said.... but they usually stack the thin pieces on top of one another so it would be ONE cut. He came unglued.... Rude and arrogant and said. " it doesn't work that way, do you want the 3 extra cuts or do you want to argue and or just leave the store....? I said, don't want to argue I just want one cut.! Again he said... it will be 4 cuts. Take it or leave it. Again I said...don't want to argue, we'll see if stacks 4 thin trim boards and cuts once. Sure enough.. yard guy stacked the boards neatly on top of one another and made ONE single cut. It's not the extra 7.50, it's the principle and the lack of logic, I have been in lumber business for a long time and never experienced the lack of knowledge, highest prices and rude sales people in my entire carrer. Just one more reason to go to Carson City.

Was making some repairs to my property in South Lake Tahoe. Needed to get multiple different items and materials which I was able to find all at the local hardware store Meeks. Rose in contractor services helped me with setting up a pro-account and was super nice and fun to deal with making our order. Jeff in the yard was a great help and Really knew about the wood that we were dealing with. I would definitely recommend and return to the Meeks lumber and hardware after the great experiences with the staff.

Rose at Meek's is so amazing and customer focused! I was looking for a few more pieces of a somewhat unique baseboard that we used in a remodel about 10 years ago. We originally got it from Lowe's and they were no help. I called Meek's and it looked like their main supplier had it. It was a Saturday and Rose said she would call me on Monday after confirming with the vendor. As promised, she called on Monday and said that supplier didn't carry it anymore, but she had contacted a few others and found some for me. I paid for it over the phone and 48 hours later she called me to say it was in. She was so delightful to work with and seemed genuinely eager to help out- I appreciated the extra effort she put into helping us and I am really happy we found the material!

People who live in Tahoe know how difficult it can be finding decent contractors or overall construction work. So here comes meeks for your local contractor or construction needs.... NOT! I now see why there is a stigma on work around here as it's evident at the store. Lazy workers, incompetence, back and forth trips to fix billing issues or even get someone to cut a piece of wood. Actually had to make 3rd trip down because lack of staff. Literally told me to come back but won't let you cut a piece of wood on your own even with own saw but tell you to kick rocks as we only have a 20ft board to sell you but cannot cut it for you. Posted signs now saying they cant help btwen 11 and 2. I have spent thousands at this place due to simplicity. No more. I will drive to Carson city or bring material up with me regardless of gas cost due to the headache this place gives you.

Spent 20 minutes 4 them to figure out how my my $20 concrete blocks were. Cashiers were really cool but guy in yard was pretty lazy and not useful and other guy figuring out how much their own product was was pretty frustrating...... luckily I wasn't in a hurry..... if you buy anything out of yard expect confusion. BTW after 20 plus minutes for their own errors they charged me an extra $1.20!!!!! Hilarious....... I would've gave them an extra $5 to leave w/ out them running back and forth to yard but "they needed inventory correct ". Ok....

Editing my review. I just went here for the last time. I've never been treated so poorly at any store I've ever been to. The woman behind the desk was crazy rude just because I didn't know what species of wood I wanted to buy. Wow.If you're not a contractor, Meek's doesn't want your business. Save yourself the trip.

I always go to Meyers store but the other day I stopped by the lake store and this Gary guy was extremely ride and quite short with me . What a j*** I'll stay going to Meyers store they are really helpful and always nice . Thank you.

I am only giving 5 stars because of the phenomenal staff in the lumber yard. Jose and Gary you are amazing. I was almost in tears after the experience I had with the cashier and "help" inside and these two made everything right for me. Because of them I will go back. If the owners see this, don't ever let those two go.
