Val fixed a bad haircut I got elsewhere andshe did it as if itshe had beenhad been responsible! She wanted me to feel as good about it as possible. Went back for color and waxing... she is incredibly talented and kind.

I visited The Last Resort as my last resort for my elopement wedding in September 2021, and I must say that I am beyond impressed with the quality of their services. As a South Asian bride, I was initially worried about finding a salon that understood my unique hair and makeup needs, but this salon exceeded all my expectations. The owner Valerie was able to schedule a hair & makeup trial a week before our wedding too.The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive from the moment I walked in. They took the time to understand my preferences and listened to all my concerns, making me feel confident that I was in good hands. Valerie, the hair stylist and makeup artist Judy, were both highly skilled and knowledgeable about working with South Asian skin tones, and they worked together seamlessly to create a stunning bridal look that made me feel like a queen on my big day. The hair and makeup stayed put in the breezy Big Sur weather even during the drop top Camaro that my husband drove throughout the day.Not only did they do an exceptional job with my hair and makeup, but they also went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect. The team provided me with valuable tips and advice on how to maintain my look throughout the day, and they even helped me adjust my veil and jewelry to ensure that everything was in place. Valerie was like my mother making sure I was comfortable, happy and full of joy on my wedding day!Overall, I can't recommend this hair salon enough to any South Asian bride looking for a talented and dedicated team of professionals to make her look and feel her best on her wedding day. From their exceptional customer service to their expert skills in working with diverse skin tones and hair types, this salon truly exceeded all my expectations. Valerie styled my & my mom's hair for my cousin's wedding. We're not from the area, and did some research prior to making an appointment. Valerie was incredibly kind & immensely talented - we had such a fun time getting to know her... and our hair stayed for the entire evening! Would definitely recommend her services. She went out of her way, even driving us back to our rental & doing touch-ups when we swung by before the ceremony. Thank you, Valerie!

I couldn't say enough GREAT things about Val and her team! I got married at the end of July, and we had a tough time finding someone to do hair and makeup. Luckily my planner found The Last Resort! I have long, straight hair that doesn't hold styles well, but I was intent on having romantic waves and curls on my wedding day. Val had me in the salon for a trial run on the day of our rehearsal dinner, and my hair held from about 10 in the morning, through the rehearsal dinner, and until I went to bed that night! The next day (wedding day!) Val and Judy (makeup) met me at the venue to get started. I had a couple of changes I wanted to make to my makeup, and Judy was very receptive and got me the exact look that I wanted. Meanwhile, Val got to work on my hair right away. She also did my (very shy) sister's hair and my (very emotional) mom's hair, and earlier that day had done hair for my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, and friend! I was a little worried about timing, but I sent everyone's requests to Val, and she worked everything out perfectly. My mom was really fretting about her hair, but Val was so reassuring. She is truly skilled at working with hair AND with people! She helped us all feel at-ease and made our hair look beautiful. I'm new to the area, so this also set me up with a great contact for future hair needs. ;) I've already been back to Val for a haircut!

Valerie was my life safer! I had a black tie wedding I was supposed to be attending on Friday. Things didn't go as planned for my original hair and make up so I called The Last Resort on Tuesday. Valerie and her make up artist was able to fit me in for that Friday morning. I forgot the make up artists name, I believe it is Judy, but they were both so great. So friendly and funny! I am not good at my hair or make up, so anything would have been good for me. But they made me look AMAZING! I had a great experience at the salon and will definitely be going back even for my normal hair cuts. I've attached a close up of my hair and make up! As for the salon itself. It was so clean and beautiful inside and out. Parking was right next to the building and a great location. I can't wait to go back!

Valerie is amazing! She is warm and friendly she really listened to what I wanted. I had totally butchered my hair (thank you YouTube tutorials!) and my hair was in bad, desperate shape. In a short time, I felt completely comfortable with Valerie as she styled and cut my hair. In the past with OTHER stylists I always pay close attention to every cut just in case I need to stop them before something they cut too much. Not with Valerie. I felt quite at ease that she understood what I was hoping for in a hair cut and in the end, my hair was even better than I had imagined. Aside from such great service, my time with Valerie felt like I was visiting with a long time friend. I can't recommend Valerie enough and I look forward to going back!

Valerie is an angel, she saved my hair from the worst haircut ever and on her day off. So i have super straight hair and went to a salon recommended by family and even has great reviews on yelp. Long story short I had to stop the stylist cause I started to notice the random and non sensical cuts she was making. Walking out with hair that looked like a weed whacker just went to town on with random bookshelf layers I cried all night called different salons with no luck for a quick save. Left a message with Last Resort and received a call back with in couple hours. Valerie heard the desperation in my message and told me to come in first thing in the morning on her day off. Not only was she sweet but super knowledgeable on different hair types and styles and managed to save the length on my hair. She fixed the layers and now I feel confident to wear my hair down again. This place is clean great service great cuts and has stylists that truly know what they are doing and listen to what you want. Thank you again Valerie your s life saver.

The Last Resort is such a helpful and friendly environment. I walked in to get prices on hair bleaching. I ran into Denise on her way out. She was leaving for the day to go home when I was coming in. And she took the time out of her day to help me out. She gave me prices and listened to what I wanted to get done and decided to take me into the salon and bleach my hair. She was so kind to stay longer and help me get what I needed instead of sending me out or pawning me off to another employee. Her price was very reasonable and the outcome was exactly what I wanted. PERFECT WORK. All the employees talked to me and we got to know each other. Very family and friend oriented and made me feel comfortable and at home. Turns out we live in a small world and had some familiar faces and contacts that we found out through chatting. I am from 3 hours away in a small town and just moved here recently and it was so refreshing to talk to Denise and her mom as well as the other employees. They were open with communication and all the questions I needed answers to. Overall it was a great experience going to their shop. Thank you guys so much for the experience and thank you Denise for doing an amazing job on my hair. I appreciate everyone at the shop. They welcomed me to come back anytime! Highly recommend!! Thank you thank you thank you!

I was lucky enough to find Val, the owner of The Last Resort through a recommendation at Jury Duty! She saw me at an inconvenient time and did an amazing job on the color of my hair! I had gone to a few people who didn’t really help my hair- it was damaged and breaking off- Val gave me a super conditioning and got my hair back in shape. I love the color she gave me- the last person put a lot of red in the color, which translated into Brassy for me. She also fixed an uneven cut I recently got.

Val and Brenna are an amazing team, professional and fun! This team traveled to my hotel to help me get ready for my wedding and were able to complete my hair and make-up, my mom's, and new mother in law's in no time at all! Not only did my hair and makeup look AMAZING it stayed amazingly well and I did not need to worry at all about how I looked all night.
