“The name says it all, but they have new equipment as well. You'll find anything you need to get on the court or field and the staff is awesome and answers all your questions. Shout-out to Jeff who helped me with some baseball items today.”

“I want to thank Zack for being so respectful and accommodating of my kid's special needs. I gave him a few pointers when we met which he heard and responded to perfectly. He made my kid feel comfortable, treated them with courtesy and respect and found them the perfect shoes, inserts and socks. He worked very efficiently to ensure we did not spend any more time than necessary in the store, which I really appreciated. My kid loves their new shows and their foot pain was eased immediately. Thank you!!”

“I had a great experience getting my scuba cert with Charlie and Boomer. I would give these guys more stars if I could. Both of them very knowledgeable, professional, and there’s no short supply of jokes. I felt very comfortable with their training skills. The shop has great prices on gear as well. Thanks guys!”

“I'm in a different situation regarding shoes. I had ankle surgery in November and was looking for a pair of shoes to get me through my transition period after my walking boot and getting back to work. Tim and Jason were amazing in finding me a shoe that worked for my needs. I was scanned and he brought me several options he thought would work well for my needs. I came in knowing what shoes I wanted, as I did extensive research. I left with a different shoe that was suggested after my scan. I LOVE MY SHOES! I'm so glad I went to these guys. I'll be purchasing another pair this week. I love supporting local businesses, but the best part was the experience.”

“Fantastic customer service! Emailed over the weekend and heard back first thing on Monday and Tom sent me a text with some pictures of the product I was interested in right away to help with my purchase. Super grateful for a juggling company with a personal touch on customer service still!”

“Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Came in with a broken sleeping bag zipper and left with it good as new! When I’m in need of a new sleeping bag, or any gear for that matter, Down Works will be my first stop. Thanks Nick!!”

“Great to give 5 stars when I see a 3.5 star legacy. On a raining day I came in window shopping and was blown away with the knowledge / consideration of the younger gentleman operating the shop. He was generous with board and travel knowledge. For sure will want to return when the time is right to snag a Donald Takayama surfboard. Great and big variety of fun board selections. I did notice an "all sales are final" note in the shop. I think that is understandable for a small business, but surely that does not go well. Shop is a bit work, but hey, what history! I even learned about Owl Surfboards. Keep the Aloha up!”

“A patagonianoutlet right in the middle of town. Lots of good deals to be found but not on the popular colors like black or navy but on orange red or purple :) not too busy. Walking distance from downtown. I spent 1 hour there and ended up not buying anything. But will visit for sure next time I am there.”

“I've been a member since 1970 when I returned to Cali from Alaska. Joined at the mothership in Seattle.I am so glad they now have a SCruz store. Each time I have visited, the employees were friendly and helpful. I wanted to purchase a new pair of mountaineering boots because my La Sportiva boots had delaminated at the sole while in Yosemite. Strangely enough, my wife's Lowas did too. Weird. They don't carry mountaineering boots at this store so I opted to purchase a pair of La Sportiva Aequilibrium LT boots on-line. When I received them I discovered there was no way my feet, large instep and high arch, would even fit through the top. Bummer. I like La Sportiva boots since the foot last "used" to fit my feet.I popped in to the store to return them and all was processing normally when an employee heard my story and requirements. Tori jumped into the fray and went to the back to see if there were any returns in my size, 46. I decided I didn't want to try La Sportiva boots a second time so I went with the Scarpa Charmoz HD, she brought out a return, wrong size but we knew that, and it appears the the Scarpa boots have a wider opening at the top.I purchased them and they'll be sent to the store. I did find out that they generally won't ship store to store if they are more than 50 miles apart. Good to know. Thanks to all the great employees and a special shout out to Tori.”

“Was in the shop looking at shoes with my fiance. I had an issue where I ended up having trouble breathing. The store associate named David, assisted me when he realized I was having an issue. He offered me some water and kept an eye on me. Honestly gave me a great impression of being helpful, along with being aware of a person in need. I am thankful to David for being awesome. If you're reading this I appreciate you sir.”

“Gabriel was amazing! Super knowledgeable and helpful in helping me pick out my first set of skis and boots. Spent a lot of time answering my questions and making sure I walked out with the right stuff a couple of weeks ago when I went in.”

“I am so impressed with this particular Rip curl store. I purchased items at a Rip Curl Store and they did not work out so I returned them receiving a gift card. I saw the wetsuit I wanted online and attempted to purchase it with my gift card. It would not work. Upon calling A customer service number I found online, they were very helpful but unfortunately I had an in-store gift card and to purchase items online you need an online gift card. Very frustrating considering it was a bigger item I purchased. Anyways I went to the Rip curl store on the west side and they did not want to help me at all. The girl at the register was very nice but upon calling their store manager they were told they could not help me. I called the customer service number back and despite his efforts he was not able to help me resolve this. He said to go into another retail store and perhaps they will be more helpful. I went into the Rip curl store on 41st Ave. and I was immediately blown away with the helpful attitudes of the staff. Keenan I hope I am spelling his name correctly did an incredible job. He got my phone number and said he would talk to the regional manager and get back to me. I received a call that afternoon. He said to come down and they would take care of me. I went today and Keenan did just as he said he would. I am so impressed with his customer service skills and his attention to detail as well as his eagerness to want to make a situation right. Those are all things that any employer would want to have and an employee and Rip curl is very lucky to have Keenan on their staff. Now I am so excited that I can buy the wetsuit I need to get out in the ocean and paddleboard! I highly recommend the Rip curl store on 41st Ave., and if you go in there be sure to ask for Keenan because he will treat you right. Thanks again!”

“We had the best time taking surf lessons with Cooper B. My daughter now has a love for surfing, and we made such great memories. The employees in the shop are also so kind and helpful. Thank you so much!”

“I got some cool men's shorts here! In an ideal world I'd be able to call up a surf shop like this or the smaller ones before a surf trip to Mexico and instead of bikini bottoms there'd be an array of women's surf leggings to protect me from board rash. And lots of rash guards and none of the women's clothing would have any floral prints or pink that would make me look extra basic. There would be bikini tops with clasps and adjustable straps and surf hats to protect me from the sun. I wouldn't have to go on Amazon and mix and match. That being said their women's marketing team is making their stuff less gross unlike the ONeill women's team which believes women should look like they give massages to Epstein (just kidding) and literally should never have fun. Ideally this store would also feature really muscular female surfer models and there would be clothes I could actually wear around the Bay Area for months that aren't four hot days in September. They'd also have tons of cool women surfing short boards and burning bikinis in a bonfire and men would surf in Speedo's but that's the next step of the revolution”

“Beyond O'Neill being the best long lasting great fitting wetsuit brand, the team at ONeill Surf Shop on 41st in Santa Cruz, CA are absolutely excellent. They are kind and helpful, have outstanding customer service and use common sense. That is a huge compliment these days. Thanks to Maddie, Leila and the rest of the team. They provide an awesome experience in and out of the store. Keep it up team, you are a big part of why O'Neill is the best surf brand period!”

“This is my second review of this business because the prices, selection and customer service just keep getting better and better! This is my go to dispensary. The employees are always friendly and knowledgeable. The selection is steady and they are constantly adding new products that are amazing. On top of all of that when you sign up for the text messages the deals they send are crazy good! This is the only dispensary that I recommend to all of my friends.”

“IMHO I first walked into the shoe store adjacent to Big Kahuna and checked out their latest Vionic styles. Vionics are the only shoes/sandals that I can wear due to my plantar fasciitis issues. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size, but the friendly and helpful clerk clued me into their sister store, Big Kahuna, which had some sale Vionics available! I quickly walked next door! They had a wall full of sandals, including my favorite Vionics to choose from. I quickly picked out any sale sandals in my size, tried them on, and purchased two pair! New Vionics usually run about $89, but I paid $45 and $65 for my two pair! Rest assured, I will make it a point to visit Big Kahuna every time I'm in Capitola!”

“What a cool place. To our understanding this is one of the original O'Neill Surf Shop store in California. You can purchase O'Neill clothing just about anywhere, but if you want it to say Santa Cruz and Surf Shop this is one of few original stores in California to get your cool hoodie or surf clothing. Definitely cool place to get your favorite O'NEILL favorite clothing”
