“This review is long overdue, reflecting a visit last March. I came in during one of the massive storms that hit Santa Cruz last winter, flooding and trees down everywhere. I had a flat tire and an ill fitting donut on my car. The man working ( I think the owner) was all by himself because none of his workers could make it in. He told me honestly that he wasn't sure if he could fix my tire and watch the front, but that he'd try.I sat at the coffee shop across the street and tried not to panic. What this man did not know was that I had just spent a week in San Francisco while my daughter was in the ICU. My last morning there, I came out to a flat tire. AAA came out and put my donut on, but it was the wrong size so I had to get towed back to Santa Cruz - during a crazy monsoon. I had 2 days to pack and get ready to take her back to Oregon with me. I was stressed out, running out of money and needing a miracle.So I came back to Wilson's a couple hours later and this amazing fella had fixed my tire. I didn't have to give him my sob story or beg, he just got it done. I know he was just doing what he does everyday, but it was the break I needed. Thank you kind sir, for fixing my tire in the middle of a wild storm when you really could have reasonably said no.”

“My 2001 VW Eurovan's ignition cylinder broke while we were visiting my granddaughter in Aptos. We called so many service stations in the area but only found two that would even look at it. It was Sunday and we were suppose to head home first thing Monday morning. Dave answered the phone early Monday morning, we explained our situation and urgency (due to my need to be back for my 93 yr old mother), and he said "tow it here". We did and Dave stopped everything and spent 4-5 hours making it so we could turn on and off the Randy Van (as it is known). We arrived at 6:30 PM (well after closing time) and Dave was just putting it all back together. He actually used a part from another VW van that he had in his shop. He explained everything he did and why, said he'd be happy to speak with my mechanic back home, and definitely made us happy to be on the road! And the cost - it was embarrassing - so low that we gave him another $50!!! Yes - he only takes cash but we were happy to pay. I could go on and on about how great Dave was. Thank you! “A really nice shop with very helpful employees. Bought my helmet here so I brought my son here to get his. These are our first helmets and they were so helpful making sure they fit correctly. They have a nice selection of gear at decent prices. It seems there are a lot of riders who come to this place. They also do repairs.”

“Winchester has been my family's auto parts store of choice since I was a child in the 1990's. Best selection, best pricing, best employees in town. I've never left a review, but I had an exceptional experience there the other day. I picked up my car from the mechanic and it desperately needed a new battery. It was 12:35 when I left, and I had an appointment to make at 1. I stopped by thinking I'd grab the battery and go, leaving my car running in the lot. Well, turning out of the lot, my car stalls due to a lack of electricity. I run in panicked asking for a jump, and instead, an employee, Ben, asks how hard it is to change. I tell him I have no idea, but it's not that easy. He's eager to help, comes out to the car with me, and we figure it out. Ben goes inside, gets the right ratchet (he expertly eyeballed the correct size and only brings the one), and gets to work. With his help, we change the battery within 5 minutes, and I tell him I don't care if I'm late, I'll take my core charge back. He runs in with my old battery and receipt to start the transaction, I finish up with the car, go in and he's ready to complete the refund. Thanks to Ben, I get to my appointment on time! Ben's an amazing dude, hope Winchester sees that and values him as much as me. Thanks Winchester, and a particularly big thanks to my boy Ben!”

“I go here twice a year, The real service is: ask for DMV form and mileage. if people find that upsetting then smog check should learn how to deal with the entitled .I find The service easy fast and great. I have always been impressed with techs and the staff. One gentleman is the best mechanic west of the Pecos. They have a Female smog tech and are female owned,Remember This an excellent multigenerational business That has also gone through weather, Covid , flu and are still open and still local.By the way al the bad reviews had the car fail. You brought the car to them and then got upset when they let you know it is not correct.”
