The staff were lovely! The lighting in the room was a little challenging for little kiddos. Our kids are 3 and 5 years old and so at night we’re putting them to bed we like to have dim lighting. There were no lamps in the room…the only option was the overhead lighting (which was very bright) and if you turn that off then it’s really dark and couldn’t read books - no in between. If you have little kids I’d recommend bringing a small portable light with you!

Old. Minimally maintained. In process of replacing headboards, countertop in sleeping area. Countertop shorter than height of mini fridge so fridge was between countertop and beds (blocking narrow walkway from door to window. Bathroom verrrry small. No countertop at all. Water is tinged brown. Had to move from one room to another because first room didn't have operational phone or lamp. There's blue painters tape in several areas of both rooms. One outlet in bed area & it's under the countertop. Would not recommend this place. Location is on busy intersection. Several loud vehicles passed by throughout the night. Mattress was not great. Overall, clean. Staff was courteous.

Upon arriving to our room, the first thing we noticed was that the door was not "square" to the opening, there were gaps at the top and side of the door frame. Although the door was able to close, we had light streaming through the gaps of the door from the hall corridor. There is a step up/down to enter the bathroom, this is not marked and both my husband and I tripped several times as we entered and exited the bathroom. After the almost near falls, we had to remind each other by loudly saying "Step"!! Every time we went to the bathroom. Needles to say we were quite surprised that it was not marked. At some point during the evening the electricity went out. When we arrived to the room, we had to fumble in the dark to get to the flashlight that we travel with. My husband went to the lobby and was told, it was only our floor that had no electricity (however there was light in the corridor). He explained that they had no electrician on duty or available and had no idea when the power would be restored. He offered to change our room , but it was late, we had just returned from a wedding and reception and we did not want to have to try and pack all our belongings by flashlight. We were not able to use the shower that evening due to no light and again, the step into the bathroom was stumbled over in the dark. We really are fortunate that we did not injure ourselves as we were able to catch our balance and not fall.We were really looking forward to our stay at the Sonora Inn, sadly we were anxious to depart.

An adorable and charming stay in a historic town. The rooms were very comfortable and the service was incredibly kind. Tip; bring a hair dryer and toiletries. It was in walking distance to the business I had to attend, as well restaurants and retail. They were all charming small businesses with quant well maintained storefronts. I felt very safe never hearing of Sonora.

We were touring the area to go through Sonora Pass. It is in the downtown area so there was a lot of traffic. The floors were old so it was kind of creaky when you walked around in your room. They are trying to renovate the two hotels, some of our group were moved to the other hotel after then made reservations. It was nice to have some restaurants within walking distance. It is also a bit musty and the AC would only cool one part of the bedroom. Service was fine, breakfast was ok. I walked a couple doors down for coffee.

We stayed at sister facility across the street but check in was here at this hotel so same staff and check in process. Had a wedding to attend, pre registered with front desk before the wedding because we arrived earlier then the check in time, came back later that night to get our room key and we opened the door to a room that was already occupied. They gave us keys to a room that someone was already in! We booked months in advance checked in that same day and confirmed they had our room. Went back to the front and they didn’t have a room for us. Overbooked. Absolutely ridiculous especially because it was our second time leaving our child and we wanted to have a fun night out. DO NOT BOOK if you want a reliable hotel to come back to and you don’t want strangers in your room! Extremely unsafe unprofessional and poorly handled.

This place is a mess overall its under construction although the staff are nice and friendly but somewhat incompetent. They couldn't even print out a copy of my checkout bill to review. The bathroom doesnt even have a shelf and the toilet was from 1963. On top of that the elevator doesn't work and that violates state and county codes. We couldnt get breakfast because it closed at 9:30 and the road noise never stopped. There is no restaurant no bar And not even a bottle of water in the spartan like room. Two little pieces of soap in the bathroom and one chair to sit in all for $169. Check in is at 4pm and they sent me a lame email offering early check in for$35 never seen this before. There are many uneven surfaces and steps throughout that creates a tripping hazard. The place smells like 1896 and stay away from this ripoff!

It wasn't a *great* stay but I'm giving 2 stars because the people at the front desk were VERY nice and the complimentary breakfast was decent. The bathroom and tiled bathtub were beautiful and I loved the overall vintage feel of the hotel. My single room was very small with a yucky window that faced another wall. There's a nice rooftop pool area with a pretty view down the hallway. The pool was closed during my stay and they called to let me know this 30 minutes prior to my arrival. When I arrived, I didn't know where to park and downtown Sonora was full of traffic. Parking is across the street at their other more modern hotel (forgot the name). I thought it was odd not to offer an early check-in or to hold my bag as it was 100 degrees outside. One lady said to come back at 3 and when I did they still said "no". Walking distance to everything is nice, they give 10% discount at 2 restaurants nearby. Nice shower, comfortable bed. At about 5 AM I was awakened to major commotion outside of my window. It sounded like an army of rats was trying to dig its way though the AC that was attached to the window. I was absolutely terrified... packed up all my things and left. When I told the front desk person about the experience she said it was pigeons. So there's that. All in all, I don't think I'd stay here again. $150 was too costly for this experience.

The location is great, but the interior is very, very tired. The carpet in my room had all kinds of stains and was extremely old. Weird worn out thrift store type furniture for tables + chairs. Not cute old, more like stuff left on the side of a road with a free sign old. That said, the place was clean and smelled nice. The bathroom was very cramped, but clean. Road noise was expected as this is a central downtown location. Parking is meh - worst case scenario you have to park across the street at the bank.I want to highlight that the staff here called me after I left a charger behind immediately post-checkout. A few months ago a much more expensive hotel “never found” two jackets I left behind and was annoyed I called. I was shocked the Sonora Inn folks would take the time to call me over something so trivial. Really upstanding people.
