As a watercolor artist I highly recommend Sonora Press to other artists in the area who are considering having their artwork replicated. I've been very pleased with the results that printer, Todd Jones, has achieved for me. I have prints and cards made regularly by him for my Etsy shop. You may see examples of what he has printed for me at etsy.com/shop/RandisWind…. His work is skillful and he too is an artist in what he does.I treasure the quiet surprises in my day, especially the sweet little moments I spy outside in the natural world. That's why I enjoy painting birds. I love to see their activity and interactions, their beautiful plumage, which is sometimes subtle and sometimes strikingly colorful. When the light is just right, I am dazzled by some feathers that shine with iridescence, as is true of our humming birds and of turkeys. When capturing a moment in creation with watercolor, I lay down wash after wash of color to get the variations of color that create depth and form. It takes me awhile to achieve a product that satisfies me. When it is finished on my end, I take my paintings to Todd Jones at Sonora Press, expecting him to recreate what I have done with brush and paints. He skillfully uses scanners, computer programs, printing machines, inks and textured papers to match my watercolor painting to my specifications. As I've worked with him over time, I've learned that the prints and cards he produces for me take every bit as much artistry and skill as I put into my paintings. I think we've learned together as I explain to him what I'm looking for in a print or card, and he discusses what he must do to achieve that. He has given me priceless advice on various questions I've discussed with him regarding layout in incorporating my calligraphy with the paintings, as well as possible papers, adjusted lighting, packaging and marketing.I appreciate and admire Todd's skill and determination to get the job done not just right, but with excellence. His prices are very fair and reasonable. He has integrity and is persistent. I'm so glad I found his shop, which is tucked away on the road into Ranchos Poquitos off Hwy 108, east of Sonora. The day I pulled in to turn around and happened upon his shop was one of those quiet surprises I mentioned earlier. This shop is a treasure, and so is Todd. I hope you'll give him a project to print for you. I don't think you'll be sorry.
