Super fun, clean, and informative! The babies are adorable. I wish I could take one home, but there are so many ones to choose from, I don't think I could ever decide anyway!

First Saturday in November is Ventura County's Farm Day! Finally visited Windy Hill yesterday as our last stop. Ventured in Somis and found parking (dirt, so be prepared) fairly easy. Wear close toe shoes and empty yo bladder before heading up here, you're welcome.Met the owners they're super sweet people a lot of people. My little really wanted a photo with the alpacas but we didn't have cash and the owner let her in an have her photo-- I did pay via square with the ornament purchase in their souvenir shop, honor system. The farm is more of look and learn than a petting experience, some of the alpacas get spooked easy and one was injured so can definitely understand why they don't want to be touched 10000099 times. Awesome Farm Day stop!

I thought this would be fun to take my mother-in-law (age 76) and learn about these amazing animals and their care, and Cindy did not disappoint! Located in a quiet, beautiful area with plenty of shade and alpacas everywhere! Cindy is just lovely and told us all about the ranch, explained the various equipment used for alpaca care, shearing, etc. The corrals and animals were clean and not stinky or crowded. The animals were quite content and not stressed or upset. We watched a days-old cria (baby alpaca) playing near its mom and they walked over to us...so cute! Cindy showed us the alpacas that she takes to shows, where they are judged on confirmation and quality of the fiber (that is sheared annually and spun into unbelievably soft yarn, oh my). Cindy held one so we could feel its fiber...and ohMY. It was like touching clouds of the finest softness and love. I can't explain it, you'll just have to pet a champion alpaca to understand. At the end of our visit, Cindy showed us her shop full of alpaca roving (not spun), yarns (spun), and various socks, sweaters, blankets, shawls...I just wanted to wrap myself in the softness of everything! I bought two skeins of yarn and will knit a beanie (photos forthcoming...maybe). We spent about an hour there. Go, enjoy your time there (it's very relaxing), and have fun learning about alpacas! How nice to learn about fiber and its journey...similar to "farm to table", but instead "farm to sweater." Be classy and tip Cindy generously. She makes it all look so easy but she obviously works VERY hard. My mama (in-law) also loved it! And there isn't any strenuous or lengthy walking involved. My only regret is not taking more pictures! So I'll have to go back. Yay!

A wonderful and magical critter kingdom. They have nearly ever critter you can imagine, even alpacas. Family friendly location with nice people in charge. Went to their tiny store and got some amazing alpaca blend therapeutic socks, and they are as good as they say. I'm loving life yet again.

I took my friend for his birthday and it was so fun to learn more about alpacas! Cindy was wonderful, she gave us a tour and answered all our questions. I felt like an alpaca expert by the end. I think it's a great thing to do in the area as it's very unique. Just note alpacas are pretty skittish so don't expect a petting zoo experience. Highly recommend :)

We took our 5-year-old son to visit the Alpacas at Windy Hill farm during Ventura County Farm day in November. Fifteen Ventura County farms in total were open to the public that day. We later learned that there were 150 visitors in the first 40 minutes Windy Hill was open, which was 10 AM. Luckily, we went later that afternoon.Windy Hill has many large enclosed pens in which various sized groups of alpacas freely roam. We discovered that Windy Hill doesn't own all the alpacas. Their farm, but many private individuals do. These owners likely live in areas not zoned for raising farm animals. Many of these owners were at the farm on the day we visited, and answered questions and took photos with the visitors. The alpacas' coat is highly sought after for its high quality, silkiness and softness. The Alpacas are sheered similarly to sheep, and their wool is spun into yarn to make many apparel items. Some of the alpacas looked like manicured poodles, with their coats gleaming, trimmed and fluffed. They even had the tuft of fur on their head teased, rounded and trimmed; the same with their tail. Most other alpacas looked like they would in the wild, or as if they were the red-headed stepchild of the family (no shampoo, trim or pedicure for you!).There were also local artists, jewelers and entrepreneurs on hand peddling their wares. We bought a wind chime made out of the top half of a wine bottle. It has a beautiful, rich tone.I highly recommend a visit to Alpacas at Windy Hill for your family, as it's a great learning and bonding experience.

Love this place. We come on occasion during second Saturday of the month too pet the alpacas boarded here. The ranch staff is very friendly and they enjoy teaching people about alpacas. Luke the guard dog is also nice when he's not working.
