We arrived right after last call for accepting new patrons for tasting, but they let our group of 4 come in anyway. The tasting experience was great! They gave us an extra taste that was not part of the flight. The manager was very knowledgeable, charismatic and fun. And we left with 3 bottles of their wonderful wine!

Beautiful vineyard and surrounding area. Their wines were great, and the $20 tasting fee is waived if you purchase a bottle. Particularly liked their Pinot Noir and Rose.

Been one of my favorites for years. Bit of a drive up the hill but it is beautiful and the wine is terrific.

From Chalone Vineyard
Monterey’s first winery, Chalone Vineyard is nestled amongst the Pinnacle mountains in Monterey. High atop the Gavilan plateau, the ocean breezes sweep across the remarkable terroir of the Chalone vineyard with its volcanic limestone soils that give our wines their distinctive flavor.
Chalone Vineyard is the sole winery in the Chalone American Viticultural Area (AVA), a federally designated area that has climatic, geologic and geographic features that distinguish it from the land surrounding it.
Chalone Vineyard makes wines that reflect the distinctive minerality of this area’s granitic and limestone soils, as well as the beautiful balance between ripe fruit character and bright acidity from the cool, windswept climate.
