We were planning on sending our kids there this school year 2021-22 - we were told there was no waiting list for kindergarten, that our son did great on his assessment and we should get our registration paperwork in the mail. Weeks and weeks go by, no registration paperwork, I called multiple times and was told they're just behind on getting everything mailed. Then at the last minute (when it's too late for us to look at other private schools) the principal calls to inform us that there is no room. They intentionally strung us along for months. If it wasn't a good fit then no problem, but you don't tell a family for months that everything is fine and then drop that on them at the 11th hour. I've never seen a more unprofessional principal or school - they clearly do not care about doing what is right and are only looking to serve themselves. So glad we saw their true colors. Avoid this school at all costs - there are way too many amazing options for schooling in North County, no need to settle for this awful place.

We switched from a local public school and are so happy with our decision. I would highly recommend SJA to any family who wants to give their kids so much more!

I would recommend St. James Academy because of the responsiveness of the principal, faculty, staff and Parent volunteer leadership to the requests and concerns of the parents. SJA cares.

St. James Academy is a fantastic school. We moved from Portland, OR four years ago and toured 8 schools in the area. We chose St. James Academy and have been happy every day since! Our children continue to thrive in the nurturing environment that SJA provides. The academics are outstanding. Faith and love fill the school. The Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Athletics, Foreign Language, and Leadership Program have been awarded in the community and are amazing. We have won the CA Green Ribbon Award three years in a row and this year we were recognized and awarded nationally. There is an outdoor classroom nestled in an indigenous garden along with a Monarch Butterfly sanctuary. There is an all school mass weekly that each class leads where the Jr. High students sit with the Kindergarten-second grade students acting as mentors/role models. We have an amazing athletics program with two phenomenal coaches that instill teamwork, communication, health, and fun into every class. We offer sports teams K-8. Our preforming arts program is stellar with our students being invited and having the privilege of singing at Carnegie Hall yearly. Art is taught in every grade with an hour and a half elective for the Jr. High. They have won Best in Show at the San Diego Fair two years in a row. Spanish is offered starting in Preschool through eighth grade. The spirit on campus is electric! The students exude confidence and kindness. St. James Academy is one of a kind.

This is more than just a school. It is a sanctuary for fostering the soul of your children so they are equipped to excel in Avery aspect of life. The school is supported by a wonderful of group of parents, Catholic and not Catholic. I am proud to be a part of this community.

My family couldn’t be more happy with Saint James. The teachers, administration and community work together to give our children the best education in the most organic and nurturing environment. No child is left behind. Potential is exceeded and leaders are made here! Love SJA!

Truly the most kind, proactive culture, community and effective curriculum for our kiddos. They simply LOVE their school.

My children both attended St. James and loved it. They attended 1st through 8th grade. They went on to attend St. Augustine High School and thrived there. It was the wonderful academic and religious foundation that allowed them to prosper and which prepared them for success in future life.

Our school is the best kept secret in San Diego. As an over bearing mother of twins, this school has managed to earn our trust on so many levels. When you walk around campus all you see is kindness within the students. I've watched an 8th grader teach a kinder kiddo how to shoot hoops, as well as seeing a 4th grader give a hand to a 2nd grader who needed a hand. Our Principal and Vice Principal, Mrs Lang and Mrs Drake, make the kiddos want to be better people (the parents too) because they roll their sleeves up and know who, where, what, when and how when it comes to every single student at the school. The curriculum can be a bit challenging, but I think it's for a reason and it teaches kids how to take ownership. Sometimes it may not be 'a great fit' Of course, sometimes it won't be a great fit for everyone. With that being said we know our children are in a safe place, being protected by our little family. Because it's a great fit for us.

Very caring environment with excellent and solid academic foundation. Both my sons went to St. James Academy K-8. Both were very happy here and loved the school. They achieved great academic success in later years. I like the grounding in solid academic basics, like math, reading, writing and science. But the school also offered great classes in art and music. We wanted our sons to be the best they could be but also to be in an environment that stressed good values. Character values were very important and our sons developed into caring, compassionate young men. You have to visit the school to get a "feel" for the warm and welcoming nature of the place.

Our daughter attends St. James Academy for preschool. She is four years old. The student to teacher ratio is great. There are lots and lots of activities for parents to meet each other which is a great improvement from our daycare. The feedback from staff to help our daughter has been outstanding. I would recommend this academy for preschool to anyone looking for a quality place to send their child.
