I deeply regret hiring Select Window Films to install residential window tinting in my condo in Westwood. I first hired them in 2019 to apply Legacy 60 tint to several windows and glass panels and sliding doors. There was some bubbling in a few small areas and also some peeling at the edges of some of the windows but overall the installation was acceptable. I hired them again in spring 2023 to apply some laminate to two shower glass panels. When their sales rep was at my condo, I showed him some of the bubbling and peeling issues from 2019. He told me those might be covered under product warranty and said if so, they could remove and replace it at no cost. This sounded great to me so I agreed to it. After the job was done, I noticed IMMEDIATELY that there were literally hundreds of small scratches covering a very large kitchen window above a counter looking out at the whole city of LA. I informed the company and the sales rep (not the installer who I never met). The scratches were not in the tint but in the GLASS BENEATH THE TINT. Unfortunately, this COMMONLY happens when installers remove old tint. It shouldn't but it does. So my next step was to call a glass replacement company to get an estimate for replacing the window which is huge. That company recommended calling a glass scratch removal company instead as removing the scratches would be cheaper than replacing the glass. So then I began a search for a glass scratch removal company. As I don't live at this condo full-time, this process took MANY months. Finally in November 2023, I got an estimate: it would cost $900 to remove the scratches...(and I would have to pay a different tinting company to redo the tinting AFTER the scratches were removed. I did not want to rehire Select Window Films for any further tinting work...obviously). Once I had the estimate, I reached out to Jeff Malone, the owner of Select Window Films. I explained what I had learned and what it would cost to fix it. I explained that I would like to be reimbursed for the glass scratch removal work and that I WAS going to pay another company to redo the tinting. I wasn't even asking for any reimbursement for that which was going to be over $1,000. I called Jeff multiple times but he never once answered the phone or returned my calls. After multiple attempts to reach him, he finally emailed me back. He refused all responsibility claiming the scratches must have been "pre-existing" their tinting work in 2023 but did agree to have his salesperson come back out to look at them a second time (remember...that SAME salesperson had already come out to look at the scratches WITH ME last spring and offered to redo the tint because he didn't even understand that the scratches were in the GLASS not the tint. Two days ago, that person did go back to my apartment. This morning, I got an email from Jeff, once again denying any responsibility and refusing to pay a dime for the scratch removal. His premise is absurd. There is simply no way that the scratches were caused by anything other than the work his installer did on that window THIS spring. To suggest that I stared out that window since 2018 and somehow never noticed hundreds and hundreds of small micro scratches in it is ludicrous and laughable. I waited to write this review until I got the final word from Jeff. Today I received it so here we are. I don't have the time or energy to take Select Window Films to small claims court for the $900 I had to pay another company yesterday to get their scratches removed. Stay FAR FAR FAR away. Hire someone else. Save yourself the frustration. Choose a company that will actually pick up the phone when you call to let them know about an issue with their work. The fact that Jeff would not get on a call with me even once to discuss this should tell you everything you need to know.

I do not live in this condo full-time so I was not able to be there the day that this new work was done. I only saw the finished job days later. When I did, I noticed IMMEDIATELY that there were literally hundreds of small scratches covering a very large kitchen window above a counter looking out at the whole city of LA. It's the best window in the condo and I stand in front of it to cook all the time. I informed the company and the sales rep (not the installer who I never met) came to take a look. He said he didn't know what happened but offered to redo the tinting for free under warranty again. At that time, I thought the scratches were IN THE TINT. Since there had already been installation problems both in 2019 and in 2023, I decided to get some additional opinions on the issue from other tint companies first before accepting his offer to redo the tinting again. The first one I called for an assessment came to look at the scratches. They explained to me that the were not in the tint but in the GLASS BENEATH THE TINT. They said this COMMONLY happens when installers remove old tint. It shouldn't but it does. I had two additional companies come look and come to the same conclusion. So my next step was to call a glass replacement company to get an estimate for replacing the window which is huge. I needed to tint my windows for privacy purposes and when I found Select Window Films, I knew I wanted to work with Jeff and his team. Fortunately, schedules aligned where Jeff and James came to my home and personally tinted my windows due a privacy matter! With that, they understood the sensitivity around the ask and were incredibly accommodating. They walked me through the entire process and were personable along the way which helped me gain their trust.

I called Jeff at Select Window Film because we just installed artificial turf. Jeff recommended putting Turf Saver window film on our windows to protect the synthetic grass. In less than a week they got the job done. I would recommend that you contact Jeff if you need window film installed!

I am a homeowner with a lot of windows in my home and when I bought my house I feel like I have no privacy at all and my neighbors can see everything I do and I have in my house as it has too many windows and I don’t want to get rid of those windows, I decided to look for a residential/commercial tinting company, and I have contacted a lot of companies and I found Select Window Films who has the best price to offer, so I decided to make an appointment. Jeff and his team came to my house and worked on my house. My house looked great, it feels more safe, and it feels cool as there’s no heat coming in from the sun. Jeff and his team are very professional and very knowledgeable about tints. I would definitely recommend them to everyone who owns a house or a business as their service is top notch.
