If you are looking for fish or supplies do not bother. Do not have enough help and the gentleman I think is manager has no customer or customer retention skills.

I go to PetSmart because they sell special treats that my dogs prefer and I can only find them there. The location I normally go to has been out of stock for a while now. Recently, I was in the Simi Valley area and decided to take a look at the PetSmart there. Thankfully, they had exactly two in stock, and it was buy one get one half off, I bought the last two. This store is a nice store, easy to get around, and I was greeted upon entering by the same pleasant lady that was the cashier.

We have gone to this location for over 2 years and the Petsmart in Westlake Village for 5 years before. Something has gone wrong in their grooming department and I suspect it is a new manager. First, after bringing in our Old English Sheepdog (we had brushed her and she looked better than any other times we brought her in) we were informed that there were mats (we couldn't find any ourselves) and she would need to be shaved down. We okayed it but were left confused. Second, our Giant Schnauzer needed a cut. 2 weeks ago we went in and the groomer claimed there was a hot spot. We took our dog to the vet and the vet said there wasn't a hot spot of any significance but gave us some spray to keep him from licking. We made an appointment to bring him in yesterday. Our dog has been to this location at least 6 times. He has a minor heart murmur which has been viewed by the dog cardiologist and there are no restrictions on him. This time, because of the heart murmur and despite him being groomed there multiple times before, they rejected him for grooming. If their policy has changed, they should have notified me in advance and not waste my time for yet another visit. We are NEVER planning on returning with our 3 dogs and will do our best to boycott Petsmart for all goods and services. The grooming manager seemed to take a smug pleasure in rejecting our dog. If they don't want us as customers, he should have said so and we would go elsewhere rather than waste our time.

If you need to get pet food or literally anything else from the store, be prepared to wait in line for a minimum of 25 minutes in order to check out. This is a reoccurring theme at the store, where they are continually understaffed and create a hostile work environment for the only cashier there, doing their best with a line of 40+ people waiting to be checked out. What's worse is that the managers literally stand there watching this poor cashier struggle without even offering to jump on a second register to speed up the process. Get more people or have your managers start doing their jobs because this is ridiculous.

It’s a shame but much like every petsmart and petco they do not properly care for their animals. The one ik most about being hamsters. ALL of the cages are extremely too small, something that will lead to a hamsters death. A hamsters cage needs to be 700-900 sq inches depending on the size of the hamster, as well it needs atleast 10 inches of bedding as hamsters are natural burrowers. Anything outside of that is cruel and is why hamsters tend to die quickly. Using petco’s supplies my hamster died not even a month in, but using proper supplies that petco does not provide my hamster lived a long life for hamsters (2 yrs) If you are going to purchase an animal here do NOT rely on their pamphlets but rather do your research online.

I have been using the self wash at this location since it opened. When they added this feature to the store it was $10. It was a nice alternative to washing my large dog at home and then have to basically clean the entire bathroom afterwards. They raised the price to $15 some time ago and I was disappointed not only in the price increase but also because I often find the washing room dirty. Today when I went to wash my dog the charge is now $20. If Petsmart is going to charge me $20 to wash my own dog then they need to make the dog washing experience a bit more pleasant. Let's start with the equipment. The drying hoses are damaged and need to be replaced. The water hose controls do absolutely nothing besides change between soap and rinse. The water temperature and pressure controls have no effect whatsoever. My dog kinda hates going there and doesn't like having the water spray so hard. Being able to control that would be nice. For $20 the washing stations should be clean, and not covered in hair from the previous customer along with a large full basket of wet towels. And can we get a towel that is large enough to dry a dog large than a Yorkie, that doesn't feel like sandpaper? The only good thing about charging $20 to wash my dog myself is that there never seems to be a line.
