We worked with Emma and her team updating some spaces in our new condo. She incorporated our style while still elevating the look and pushing our comfort zone in a good way!! She found fun wallpapers, matched to existing color schemes, and selected stylish yet comfy and functional furniture that really brings our different rooms together. She coordinated all the delivery and different contractors effortlessly. Although we had some delivery challenges with different vendors, Emma was professional, gracious and accommodating through it all. (Video of our project is on their Instagram)

Working with Emma at Satin and Slate was such a pleasure! Her interior design skills are top-notch, and she really helped me transform one of my bedrooms into a stunning den that can still double as a bedroom if needed. Emma was so attentive and really took the time to listen to all of my concerns and preferences. She understood my budget and worked within it, which was a huge relief. Communication was also a breeze with Emma. She kept me updated throughout the entire process, making everything run smoothly and effortlessly. I absolutely loved working with Milenka. She has a warm personality and was so easy and fun to work with. Milenka helped design walk-in closets as well my home office. I felt like she truly understood my taste and style as well as opened my eyes to other possibilities. Her team was great to work with as well. Highly recommended!

As a homeowner with relatively little experience in construction and design, I appreciated working with Emma and Cynthia at Satin & Slate. Emma communicated in a clear and timely manner and guided me toward choices that meet and exceed my expectations. Designing a small space can be a challenge. Although the space is small, it feels spacious and has a great flow. When adjustments were needed, Emma and Cynthia stepped right up and took care of things. I highly recommend Satin & Slate and I hope to have another opportunity to work with them.

I can't even express in words how I love the collaboration with Emma from Satin and Slate in renovating my tiny condo. I have never worked with an interior designer, and am so happy that I found Emma! I was sooooo nervous, not only to spend the money, but for someone to not understand my style. I am not creative and didn't want to spend the time looking for pieces or going online and getting decorating ideas. This is where i relied on Emma and her expertise. With working more from home, I needed to update my living room (and added the bedroom since it was so bland) and create an office space. I just had too much chachi stuff all over the place that I didn't want to part with (memories haha), and needed someone to work with pieces I love, but create an funky "adult" living space. I love the color theme that Emma suggested for me, even though I was resistant at first, but I LOVE LOVE IT!!! I wanted a living room area where I can have a space to have people sit around and also not bock my view of downtown LB. Emma was patient, good listener and really understood the vibe I was trying to create. She provided samples, pictures and was always available - i love exceptional customer service. Super happy, and will be contacting her again for my kitchen!

I have worked with Emma and the team at Satin & Slate on two projects, bathroom and kitchen, over the past two years and they are such an incredibly creative and easy team to work and communicate with! Emma made the entire process from start to finish so seamless. I sent her a few pictures of my inspiration for both projects and she nailed the design on both of them! I am so happy with our new bathroom and kitchen! I plan on working with Emma again on our second bathroom and highly, highly recommend the team for all of your design needs!

Emma was our primary contact for Satin and Slate during our whole house remodel. She conducted an initial meeting with us to determine our design ideas. She worked diligently to ensure that materials and fixtures were ordered to meet the construction schedule. These materials included flooring, faucets and fixtures, counters and backsplash, hardware, paint, stucco and doors. She provided vendor recommendations including scheduling and attending the initial appointment with the door vendor. Emma also provided referrals for our shower doors. We had many meetings/calls with her and she was very responsive. We valued her experience and knowledge during this remodel. She also acted as a liaison with the contractor whenever key personnel were absent or unavailable. We thank Emma for all of her efforts on our behalf.

My husband and I had a great experience working with Emma and Chandler from Satin & Slate during our bathroom remodel. Even though I knew the design aesthetic we wanted, Emma was great with providing alternate options and samples for review. I work roughly 60 hours a week at my job and am not always available to check my personal emails, etc. Emma quickly adapted to texting and quick calls to keep the communication flowing and the remodel on track. Having her and Chandler to coordinate the ordering, measuring, finishing touches etc., made all the difference in the world. It was like having a wedding planner all over again, only less stressful. If you're coordinating a project, we highly recommend Satin & Slate. You won't be disappointed.

Our General Contractor, Builder Boy, referred us to Satin & Slate. We worked with Thomas and his team (primarily Vanessa) as part of our Kitchen Remodeling project. They have achieved the look we were aiming for and more! It has now been about a year since moving into our home and newly renovated kitchen, and Now, we are kicking ourselves for not doing a WHOLE HOUSE design with Satin & Slate (even though we are not planning on remodeling the whole house just yet). In short, as long as you know what style/look/feel you are trying to achieve, Thomas and his team will help bring your vision to life! Just be patient, communicative, and decisive. Would love to work with Satin & Slate again for the rest of our house.

We used Thomas as our designer, but he ended up being so much more. We recently moved back to Long Beach to retire here but needed to renovate out 100 year old home. It was an overwhelming project for us especially during this pandemic. Thomas met with us at the homesite and essentially designed it from studs to finish. He designed wall placement, window placement, kitchen and bathroom design and helped me make very tough decisions when I would get "analysis paralysis"!! Thomas has a great design sense of design but always listened to the style and mood that we wanted to create in our space. He was always kind, generous with his time and advice and above all displayed a great sense of patience and integrity. I would use Thomas Keene again and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. Linda 2020

I was referred to Thomas by Builder Boy to design a layout for my home renovation. I had an architect and structural engineer lined up to draw up all the COMPLETE plans and documentation needed to submit to the city for the permit. And they had promised me to have everything ready to submit within three weeks. Thomas told me that he and his structural engineer would be able to complete the plans faster and save me money, so I didn't need my own architect. Apparently, seven weeks is faster than three weeks. Add in another couple of weeks delay because Thomas held up construction of a six figure renovation, with $3k in monthly carrying costs, because I hadn't picked out a $300 faucet and $500 chandelier. I paid well into the four figures for the plans and basic designs for my new home. The city has come back twice with questions because the plans are incomplete and Thomas is not willing to complete the work I already paid him to do. That is exactly why he didn't want me to use my own architect for the plans - it would have been a missed opportunity to double charge me. The basic room designs (think very basic as in Ikea black/white print out) are not worth $900 a room, as Lowe's, Home Depot, Kohler, Bauformat, etc all now offer free 3D designs, and in full color, with a reasonable size purchase. I had to throw in the towel on a 12k order of materials as Thomas was very secretive about the status and didn't want me to know what he did with the money. And he's definitely not worth the thousands for plans that will deliberately be incomplete so he can charge you...to properly complete the work he was already paid to do. I would suggest going somewhere else....anywhere else.
