Great pool feels nice and refreshing. My one star off is for the showers in the locker room. The shower pressure is really weak and they are sometimes really cold. Also what’s with the random curtains between every few showers. It’s really uncomfortable having to walk into other people’s shower curtains to pass them. I had to share a shower curtain with someone’s kid so it’s just me and their kid naked in an enclosed space. Kinda awkward. Just get rid of the curtains and make it fully communal.

Very nice park for children and dogs. The big dog park gets mud from people running the water too much so then dogs get muddy. The small park dog is great grassy and shady. Children park is great as well and there is always something happening for children to do. Bathrooms are okay I always think they can be better.

The YMCA in Sierra Madre is a medium sized facility next to a park with convenient parking. They have lots of high quality classes in a large space, large outdoor swimming pool, 2 small workout gyms and separate youth activity rooms. The staff is good and the building is newer. Good place and loved by the community!

I have visited this Y twice only - first time to get set up with personal trainer service and the second time to meet my new trainer. Their weight rooms are small with less equipment compared to other locations in the area so we set up our following sessions elsewhere. They have two pools here - one outside that's seasonal (I think) and an indoor pool year round - and you make timed reservations via their app. Super easy to use and you can block out 30 minute increments as available in each lane with no limit to how long you want to swim - so helpful in avoiding conflicts! They also have a small weight room with nautilus machines and some free weights, and a treadmill room that includes bikes, ellipticals and a stair master. They have weekly classes you can also sign up for - also very easy to do in their app. They don't have as many class offerings as they used to though - but I think they're all still trying to get things back up and running again from the pandemic. This location does seem to offer more classes than the Monrovia location at the moment. The staff are all so helpful and friendly! Prices are very reasonable- especially compared to all the other gyms in the area - I've been shopping around for general gym services with a pool and personal trainer for several months now and the prices here beat all the others. They have ample parking but it's near a local park and fills up fast.

This swim lessons here is horrible. The kids are in the pool for 30 min but they only get (my guess) max 5 min of swimming instructions. The rest of the time the kids are just waiting for their turn. I took my son out after 2 sessions. I really wanted it to work as this YMCA swim class is close to my house. Go to waterworks. The kids will definitely learn how to swim there: my older daughter did waterworks and she is now in the club swimming team. If I keep this up..I will be out of thousands of dollars for swim lessons at YMCA and my son will probably learn to float at best.Plus this is supposed to be a community pool. I have YMCA membership. They make you sign up for appointments to use the pool. pool hours are 10-1 only and 30 min slots at a time..what??? They make it soo hard and exclusive to use. Plus the little pool is closed most of the time so kids can never use it. With waterworks before the kids can come for their lessons and jump over to the kiddie pool and enjoy some time in the pool. You can't do that nowadays with YMCA in charge. The mismanagement is very unfortunate. So unfortunate. No one in the community can use the pool except for a select few. And YMCA motto is "community". No not really.

If I had the option to not give a star I would. Let me first start by saying this PLACE is HORRIBLE and a FRAUD. I wanted my family to enjoy their summer by swimming in their pools. I paid $80 to become a member with the YMCA since the pools are now with them. They told me to download an app to reserve my spot. The limited was 10 people to swim. It was hard to reserve a spot it was always booked. My family never had a chance to swim in their pools. Decided to cancel my membership and ask for a refund but they refused to reimburse my money. My family didn't even had a chance to swim and enjoyed themselves especially in this hot weather. I work really hard to earn my money to just give money away for free.

I see a lot of potentials for this little facility but man do they mismanage! I mean serious mismanagement and underutilization here. I'd stay away.

Ok, I DO NOT recommend this place. It is very unorganized and dirty. The garden has a bunch of hazardous stuff laying around and they are very understaffed. Everything about this place is not easy and not seamless. They even run out or forget to put chlorine in the smaller pool forcing the toddlers to go in the big pool. There is so much more I could go on about this place. I canceled my membership and will not return.

Today is Sunday I went I went in to ask questions about the facility and a very nice young lady thought since they were closed that she could give me a quick tour being that they were closed, but she had to asked her (“so called boss”) he seem to take his job as it identified his mean persona. I’m not sure if makes himself more important than what he is. This man was not very unwelcoming to be a Sierra Madre ymca community center. He is the meanest person I’d ever meant he this town.

Worst gym ever! They have the worst hours of operations. Don't ever sign up online because you see a flyer saying they waive your registration fee. Oh boy did I made that mistake. I signed up online and found out that I won't be able to use any of the facility (pool/class) without making a reservation. They have no problem setting you up online collecting your money, but when it comes to reserving a spot to use what you paid. The app doesn't recognize your email address. Don't bother calling because no one is picking up your phone. I tried calling pasadena location and even the la metro but no one pick up. I tried using the app reset password thing to create a new account, and 3 times it still didn't work. The worst part is that their app Customer-service was using a non Ymca email telling you to click a link to reset password. You really have to take a leap of fait risking your computer getting hack for that stupid reset password link that never work. Guess how I finally resolved my problem, I had to contact their Facebook page to get a little attention. Seriously why is it so hard to use what I paid ALREADY? I prepaid for the whole month!!! The whole reason why I paid a hundred buck a month was for the outdoor heated pool. That facility is crap. Their changing room and shower is worst than public bathroom. You try turning on the shower for 10 minutes and 8 out of 10 minutes it dribble cold water. The water pressure is so low that you couldn't even wash away any soup. Oh by the way there's no shampoo or soap. I didn't know it the first time I took my toddler there. I had to ran out to the bathroom area to get some freaking hand wash soap just to clean my son. It torn me to see my kid shivering cold shaking and his lips turning purple telling me that he's cold and I turned the water to the hottest and it's cold most of the time. This place is overpriced, bad customer experience and a huge rip off. You'd think that my app account was not properly set up for a week and at least they'd give you a curtesy 1 week pro rate or credit for my waste of time and all the frustration they brought me. Nope. All they want is for me to waste another 10 minutes documenting what Didn't work so they could investigate it. Well this question is so d*** I didn't even want to answer them. All they have to do is to join online and the trying calling the branch during normal business hours then they would know what I went thru. Don't join this horrible gym. Go somewhere where they treat you fair and respect. Be nice to yourself and your family.

After a year long closing, I was excited to resume my work out routine only to find out the following disappointments: 1) All the staff and instructors were replaced. I've talked to some of them and they had no idea as to why they were not offered the opportunity to come back. 2) For some unknown reasons, they gym is closed between 10am to 4pm! 3) The dumbbells are hit and miss, for example the weigh goes from 60lbs to 75lbs, what happened to 65 and 70? 4) Last but not the least, some of the dumbbells are loose. This problem goes all the way back before the closing. You would think with all that time, the staff would have fixed them. DANFEROUS!!! The only reason that I haven't left is= the close proximity to my home. Hopefully, the management team will take notice and correct the deficiency.
