Special place! We have been up here every year for 30+ years. So thrilled the Robinsons now own. We stayed at the Inn and it is perfect! All the little touches. Sweet kitchen. Coffee maker with delicious coffee. Charming western decor. I must find out where they buy their mattresses! My husband has known Tim for years. We could not imagine better folks to own such a magical place. Store is delightful as is the cafe. Gas station open all year self serve. Blessed to have a night away here.

I have been going to Bassets since the 70s..Always been a great place.. Just visited again a couple of days ago.. Best selection of shirts and hoodies relating to mountain stuff in the area.. Lots of other cool stuff to buy also..Had lunch there also..Burger was delicious. Congrats to the new owners on keeping this place authentic..can't wait to visit again next fall.

Only place around with gas. Just updated to accept credit cards, even tap pay. Little grocery store, love all the stickers. Small little restaurant attached, fantastic breakfast at a great price!

Just good solid selections. for breakfast and lunch. Always well prepared. Good sized portions and battered fries. Lots of ice cream flavors and friendly service. We are summer locals and we eat here once a week.

Bassetts Station is a wonderful place to visit. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The cafe is perfect for breakfast or lunch . The people are the best. Sardine Lake nearby is beautiful, and there couldn't be a better place to kayak or fish.

I've been stopping in here for many years. I understand there are new owners since last I was here, but the root beer float is unchanged and I count it the best in the area. The bowl of chili wasn't very good - needed a bit of sugar or something - and my wife found her potato salad to be primarily celery. She hates celery. But her grilled cheese sandwich was good. The restaurant was out of almost all soda drinks from the tap, and a number of other items, but the ice cream bar was busy. Compared to places in Sierraville and Loyalton, the staff here was not a smiling group. Maybe it was Monday that did it.

I was staying in Sierra City for a few days and came upon this cute place. It is a small motel and restaurant. It is a simply decorated but cute. We ate lunch there twice during our visit. The menu has enough variety both for breakfast and lunch that everyone will most certainly find something to enjoy. I had their burger which comes with your choice of fries, salad, fresh fruit or soup (if available.) I chose the fresh fruit. They gladly allowed substitutions. Our waitress was cheerful and accommodating. The owner stopped by our table to chat and check on us. He was so friendly that we felt like locals. Definitely a place to try.

100% middle of nowhere but exactly where you want to be on this planet. Stop and eat. If you are lucky (or unlucky) enough, the owner Tim will tell you endless bad jokes relentlessly until you are in tears. Tim's wife will just roll her eyes in the background. Great experience! Good lunch and ice cream!

I stopped in and had the bacon cheese burger and sweet potato fries. Wow it was worth the stop. The ladies were real friendly and the burger was done Right! The bun was grilled, there was a nice piece of lettuce and tomato with a nice ring of onion (not too much). I asked for some BBQ sauce and was promptly given some. The sweet potato fries were done nice and crispy with a side of ranch. Thanks for the hospitality Bassetts!

Wonderful place to have a meal, stock up on supplies and purchase fuel. Nice family atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit!

Would be great if the Bassett Station had longer hours since it is a great place to stop for ice cream after a day hiking in the Lakes Basin. We missed getting ice cream by 2 minutes. Based on the recommendation of our friends, we returned to the Basset Station for breakfast. The restaurant serves good home-cooked breakfast that is reasonably priced.
