This place is absolutely disgusting. Sink leaked and they used a towel to try to soak the water up, but it left bugs and am awful stench. I would even bring myself to shower as there were small black bugs on the floor of it. They even used duct tape to patch the carpet which was completely stained and smelly. Redding is 7 miles away, do yourself a favor and take the extra 7 minutes. Also, my kids weren't with me, thank God, but do not take children here, it's a cest pool for disease. I used all my hand sanitizer to soak the things I had to tough. Very icky.

The rooms smell very old but it’s keep very clean and no bugs. There are some cats around which is cool. I’d say it’s about a 8/10 for what it’s worth.

That's a more than generous rating of this very OLD establishment. The negative aspects of the motel can be remedied by the owner if they don't go on the Cheap Road. Here are the things at issue and need correction: Fix the shower door so it quits scraping on the tile. I'm 5'2" and felt like I was showering in a phone booth. My husband is 6'1" and wouldn't have room to move around in there. No Kleenex in sight, yet there's a box holder above the bed.No hair dryer which is the standard at other motels.Only one set of THIN towels in spite of TWO guests under the reservation.Located by the freeway where you're guaranteed exciting sleep.A propane BBQ with malfunctioning burners. As I said, these can all be resolved if the owner doesn't go cheap. Our friends were two rooms down from us. Unlike our room, they didn't have a fridge and had to use ours. However, they did have a microwave. Also, there wasn't a latch on their shower door. This was camping at its best!

The services they promised were not there!! Pool was empty. The grill in the center didn't work. The AC was so load we had to turn it off on an 84 degree night. Big bed was okay. Okay shower. Ice machine gave these weird linked cubes. Dirty windows looking out on nothing but the road. Indifferent owners. Badly placed lighting. Rundown location.Never again.

My trailer broke down when passing through and my child and I needed a place to stay. We found this place online. When we arrived the entire parking lot was completely empty. Not a single person in site. When I rang the bell for service, a man came out. Took one look at me and my child and said they had no availability and just walked away. I have never been so insulted and have never experienced such rude and dismissive service.

Great staff. Quick check in. Was made v to feel welcome. I felt like a person there not a commodity. And it's nice to be surrounded by some trees instead of a sprawling parking lot. This is an older place and that is part of its charm.

Off the beaten path! Check in with friendly owner was easy and quick! Its an older motel just like you would see in a movie, with all the charm! It's off the main road and half a block from McDonalds that is open untill 11PM.Original yet clean, everything was fresh, clean and sanitized. NO bed bugs or anything else....Yes I looked! lol Our room had 2 beds , it had the cutest tiny kitchen with everything fridge, microwave, coffee pot, sink ,cabinets and table..,and a tiny 1950'2 table in front of the window!! GREAT A/C! Whole place is surrounded by trees..Chairs in front of room to sit outside. There is a pool, but make sure to check if its in use. Pool was spotless so I can't imagine why its not available. There is a courtyard with a bbq, a fire pit and seating. And I won't forget to mention the kitty;s about the place! Saw 3 roaming..very homey and comforting as I was thinking about my own cats at home...It was VERY calm and relaxing there. Next to freeway yet so many trees and soundproof room wasn't an issue. Freeway access was too easy, its right there! We paid $120 on a Thursday night and I think it was worth it! I would definitely recommend Shasta Dam Motel and if I am in the area again I will definitely check in there! Only thing I'll bring next time is some treats for the kitty's!It may be the best smallest 5 star motel around!

I was considering this place as a cheap overnight stay, but I saw the outside with only a few vehicles parked there, one with a car cover that looked like it hasn't been moved for ages.Anyway. I was quoted $85/ night plus taxes! I told the manager that I might consider half that much for such a dump, but really had no intention of staying there at any price!

Owner was exceptionally nice. Rooms where clean and comfortable. Shower was clean and plenty of water pressure. All around good place. Only downside was the interstate traffic nearby but can't really help that.

I have got to say that this motel was very quaint and pretty. Although the room was small, it met all our needs and it was very clean. The king size bed was super comfortable, such that I haven't had a good night sleep like that in a really long time. The owners were super nice and were ready to help at first request. I would totally recommend this place or stay there again anytime.

What a pleasant discovery on our trip! We were getting really tired and spotted the sign for the Shasta Dam Motel. Clean and comfortable. Best bed yet, on our travels. Not a big corporate hotel/motel, but the same conviences. Delicious coffee 1st thing in the AM. We highly recommend the Shasta Dam Motel.

Friendly, quaint, the pool is old school with clean water. But the room is unsanitary. Unfortunately, we won't be back. There is hair and either body fluids or product or both in the shower. The shower curtain is stained. The carpet is filthy. The bathroom floor is filthy, with the peal and stick tiles separating. There was a flashlight under the mattress. The outlet in the bathroom does not work. A bottle of bleach was left in the bathroom, which I was grateful for. The list of issues goes on. I don't mind old. I do mind dirty. Phooey. I was excited to stay here, because it reminded me of our vacations when I was little. But, we stayed in clean facilities.

This was a great find for a basic budget hotel. We stayed on both legs of a trip to San Diego. Tucked off the highway, we were not worried about theft of our bikes and kayaks on our van. Reasonable rates ($60 for a double and we managed to snag a room with a third bed for our teenaged son). Sheets were comfy and clean. Room had budget hotel musty smell but was clean. Would totally recommend this as a road-trip stop.
