Phil's tackle shop is decent but there could be room for improvement. There are 4-6 other smaller tackle shops on the way to Lake Shasta but i would just skip them entirely and just come here. This place has a decent tackle selection with their own worm bar of in house poured plastics in which i believe Jon pours. Anything from bass to trout stuff. Although their trout tackle could be a lil more beefed up as its a little empty for being how many trout fisherman go this time a year. In terms of bass though its fully stocked with everything you would need. Personally i would have maybe done display case with reels inside show casing them upstairs along with rods up there too. Would make for a much more interesting and fun approach to the shop as it would entice people to go upstairs, but since its like life vests and other uninteresting things people don't tend to venture upstairs. The reels are in their boxes which is not a good selling point if customers wanted to purchase reels in my opinion. They should be show cased in glass cases. We have made it a ritual to come here every time before we go to Lake Shasta.

Spent over a thousand dollars there last year and they won't honor a gift card for a license. Ok so the money goes to the state and I'd still buy tackle, guess it's about the money not taking care of the long term customer.

Phil's is awesome, so much stuff packed in that place. From fixing props to electronic installs or grabbing some mean minnows or night crawlers.

I find it shocking that people compare Phil's prices being $2-$3 more then Walmart? This is not Walmart, these people actually help you, they give personal service, they want your boat on the water, they want you to catch fish! Success is often found knowing the right people... Thanks to the staff at Phil's for always being there!

Thank you so much! We damaged our prop on day two of a family vacation at Lake Almanor. I called them at 7am the next morning. John was wonderful on the phone. I texted him some pictures. He looked at it with Chris. He was honest that he couldn’t guarantee it could be repaired. He thought it could. I towed the boat two hours to them. They had the prop removal tool and took it off. Chris repaired it. He did a fantastic job. I was in and out within a couple hours. Family vacation rescued. I highly recommend these place. They fixed our prop same day at a reasonable price. They also are good people.

Stopped by to get minnows but apparently cause I stopped at the other shop first he wouldn't sell to me. That hole in the wall needs to go out of business already
