Bruster's Real Ice Cream
148 Main St Unit D, Seal BeachThis was amazing! I was craving ice cream and saw people walking around with Brusters and knew I had to try it. The prices are a little steep, but it's by the beach so that's expected (it's also about the same as every other ice cream location in the area). The difference is that the flavors are freshly made every day, and they are all delicious. The serving size is also huge, the cone I got was the regular sized waffle cone with one scoop, and it was tough to finish alone. Share if you'd like, there's plenty :) The workers are kind and they're very fast, and the location is beautiful!

Catrina Cafe
330 Main St unit f, Seal BeachService was wonderful, breakfast was delish. Hubby had eggs, toast and potatoes. A tad disappointed the potatoes didn't have a seasoning or onions/bell peppers. I ordered the French toast with berries, aplenty. Buttered, warm and a small dish of syrup; perfect and filling. Coffee was okay. I would've liked a flavored creamer, a dash of cinnamon or Abuelita shaved chocolate atop, just a suggestion. Overall, a nice experience on the Main street of Seal Beach. Try to eat indoors if possible, so many pedestrians and patrons waiting while you're eating outdoors on the sidewalk. The fresh salt air makes it a nice experience

John's Philly Grille (We close early when we run out of fresh baked rolls)
550 Pacific Coast Hwy, Seal BeachLove this place! Small sandwich shop in a strip center close to the beach. The service has been great the couple times we have been here. There is a girl that works at the register that takes our order and she is great! They make everything to order and it comes out hot! The full sandwich is big, definitely large enough to share. Portions of fries, etc are good size.

Taco Surf
115 Main St, Seal BeachGreat service. Young man the host waiting for us upon entering. Hot yummy chips and salsa came out ASAP. Sabrina the server came out with a very friendly warm inviting smile and genuinely cared about what beverages we were going to have and what food we were going to have. Great personality. I got the chili verde burrito came with good chunks of meat beans and rice inside and cheese on the outside avocado slices on top and green sauce and it was really really good. My friend got the chicken bowl that came with an option of beans and or rice opted for the beans and was very tasty.

Helen Sanders Cat Protection and Welfare Society Inc.
1198 Pacific Coast Hwy Suite D Box 227, 1198 Pacific Coast Hwy Ste D, Seal BeachI'm glad I spoke with someone today while in petsmart, as sad as it is we didn't get the second cat from this place, I am happy to hear that a lot has changed and new people are working here. The threat of having my cat removed was traumatic, and ridiculous allegations. So happy that they have hired better people. Also nice to know that this won't happen to someone again.

Seal Beach Animal Care Center
1700 Adolfo Lopez Dr, Seal BeachThe shelter is clean and staffed with passionate and dedicated volunteers. The adoption form is long but given the amount of care and time a furry friend takes during their lifetime, not unwarranted. This is my second adoption from SBACC, the first kitty, Chloe, was adopted in 2003 and passed at the end of 2020. Our new kitten, Jaeger, is a charmer and we are so pleased to have found him! SBACC was upfront about the health needs of all of the kittens we considered, something we greatly appreciated. All of the adoptable animals have been sprayed or neutered, which is wonderful.
Yes, the staff can appear to be reluctant to allow an adoption but given the amount of 'found' animals that end up back at SBACC as older lost, returned, or abandoned pets, their adoption review process is necessary. While we were considering which kitten to adopt, there were three older cats that had started at SBACC and come back years later due to 'circumstances'. Poor kitties. Pets are a lifetime commitment, their lifetime.
The only thing I would like to see is for the foster animals to stay in home environments as long as possible. The shelter is safe, the animals are well taken care of, but it's not a home.
