“The movers were very professional and did a great job. They kept me informed throughout the whole process. They had a lot of experience with moving furniture, which was nice because I had a lot of furniture to move. After the move, the movers were very helpful with getting everything out of my house into the storage space.”

“The 31st Fall Retreat of the CEF Campus Gospel Fellowship took place from 11/22 to 11/24 on-site. The retreat hosted over 170 visiting scholars and international students from Stanford, UCSF, Berkeley, UCSB, and UCD, along with nearly forty minors. Praise the Lord! Over 10 seekers made the decision to accept Jesus. The Tabernacle building provided a wonderful setting for youth ministry.”

“This elegant old mansion is a beautiful, historic setting on the Cabrillo College campus in Aptos. The staff members are all in the culinary program, and they are quite impressive servers and cooks. They're clearly getting top-notch culinary/restaurant training. The menu changes from day to day, and the food is always well prepared and very nicely presented. This is a great place for a special lunch.”

“We had a fantastic meal yesterday. The duck confit was so delicious. Service was great and of course the view one of the best in Santa Cruz. I give the experience an A+.”

“My kid attended a summer camp here a couple of times. The facilities are great - they have a swimming pool, fun outside games and activities, an event space, lots of rooms for different activities, and the food is very good.”

“Attending my second "Santa Cruz Old Timers" luncheon held once a year since 1939. This just happened to be the 80th year it has been held, and, with a record attendance of 200. A low key meeting, luncheon and raffle without any dues, fees or other meetings the rest of the year. You need not be old to attend, just a resident of Santa Cruz County for 20 years, so a twenty year old born in the county may attend. Attendees are a mixture of regular citizens as well as Santa Cruz influentials and some politicians.”

“This venue truly is a hidden gem. It was the first venue we visited and after 10+ other ones, we still couldn’t get it out of our head. We got married in August, when the greenery was full, so it meant the space was naturally beautiful and didn’t need as much florals or decor. Our guests all kept commenting on what a cozy, intimate, gorgeous space it was. The redwood grove ceremony was just stunning. We had 80 people total and it was the perfect size. Shout out to Kathy! She is a saint for responding to all my emails over the course of a year. From the get go, she was friendly, had a list of recommendations, and was transparent about any venue restrictions or needed rentals.

The drawbacks:
End time—it has an 8pm music cut off time due to a local noise ordinance. We ended up starting earlier in the day and reserved space at a bar in Santa Cruz for an after party, so it was fine but a logistical challenge. It meant our guests coming from San Jose had to drive during peak beach traffic time (it took some 2 and a half hours…) and we wanted to safely shuttle everyone to the after party so that was an extra cost.
All outdoor space—we were so lucky our weather was 80 and sunny with a light breeze. It was perfect. But let me tell you, I was a mess for a year until I could finally see the forecast. The sun also beat down on some guests and the dance floor for about an hour during the reception, but again this was during August.
Bathrooms—we originally estimated 100 guests and unfortunately there’s only one real bathroom for guests so we needed to rent a trailer which was an additional $1200. It was okay as I wiggled the budget around a little, but ouch.

Would I have my wedding here again? Absolutely. Without a doubt. It was beautiful and unique. My recommendation is to be flexible with as much as you can and maybe book in fall when the sun is in a better position and you can add some lights for a cozy evening time.”

“I was very disappointed that they did not perform the Puccini arias, especially” O Mio Babbina Caro”. I was really looking forward to that portion of the evening. When I attended the Beatles tribute they played the Bach numbers beautifully. I had asked my husband to get me a second glass of wine to enjoy with the rest of the performance. I was left with a full glass of wine and wanting more. They did not even offer an explanation as to why they were cutting that portion of the concert. So I stayed to finish my wine and got dirty looks from security. Uncomfortable, to say the least.”

“I was invited there for bingo. Didn't know what to expect, but the area was clean and well lit. Everyone was friendly and helpful. There was food there for sale, will definitely go again.”

“Our family stayed in Seascape resort for one night during our south Cal roadtrip. My colleague recommended this place. We came in December and it’s still pleasant as a getaway resort. It’s not a modern and trendy vacation resort but family friendly with great view. I’d recommend coming during summer time and book a room with sea view to get the most value out of your stay. We’ll come again”

“FANTASTIC!
We had our son and his fiances rehearsal dinner here! It was such a beautiful location, the hosts were AMAZING, there were plenty of amenities to accomodate a group, and you cant beat the amazing redwoood trees. We felt so cared for by the attention to detail from the hosts and could not have asked for a better experience!”

“The Monarch Cove is set on a cliff in Capitola with an ocean view of the Pacific Ocean. We stayed in the Monarch Grove, a romantic getaway within 3 miles from the Shadowbrook, so you can take advantage of their free taxi service and get picked up in an old school Shadowbrook cab. I highly recommend this for a weekend getaway!”

“Wonderful facility with all sorts of recreational facilities. Close to the town of Felton, and the cities of Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz. And close to mountain and beach recreation as well. Not to mention the outdoor amphitheater. Definitely coming back!”

“A beautiful venue. We stayed in the Protea room, a big, roomy spot upstairs with a huge jacuzzi tub. Continental breakfast was just that, but didn't expect anything more. Towels were soft. No fridge or microwave in unit, but the gas fireplace was a great touch.”

“Good cheap bowling on weekdays with parking. I’ve been in the area for years, but haven’t been to these lanes before. I didn’t have to wait for a lane and at $4/game it was a good deal. The bar and snack bar both looked promising and the prices fairly reasonable. I didn’t realize they had their own lot across Front St until after I’d already paid for street parking. Next time I’ll know better.”

“Was shocked to see their rating on yelp so low; then again standards and expectations are different for everyone. With that said found booking cheaper through hotels own website than on booking.com. Booking was simple and quick pay on arrival and room selected was as advertised. Cost was reasonable when looking at comps in area. The hotel is extremely quaint and architecturally beautiful. Upon arrival receptionist Jessica was very friendly, professional & knowledgeable of hotel and surrounding attractions as well as accommodating. She had 2 rooms available under what I reserved, due to having young toddlers I asked if I could see both rooms and she was nice enough to show me both rooms. We decided on room 202 corner queen 2 beds ocean view, not on street level with only one neighbor/room next to us, with shared big patio. Room had modern design, huge shower with nice rain shower head. The stunning view from room is as advertised online; right across from the beach, wharf and boardwalk. & although being right across from beach & tourist attractions noise level wasn't bad at all plus quiet hours were respected by other guest during our stay. Hotel is pet friendly which is always nice. Close to local attractions and numerous restaurants. Overall great experience and hotel stay.”
