Beds so hard like trying to sleep on a brick wall. Spider webs all near air conditioner. 200.00 held for 3 to 5 days. This place not worth it old and needs updating. We won't be coming back.

Very disappointing golf course. Bunkers with out sand, more gopher holes on the fairway than seems reasonable, and my very personal favorite they close the range randomly with out notifying the public. On bad weather days I get it, but if you plan to push earth around, post it on the website!!!
If my review seems unreasonable, I invite you to play a round and enjoy the unique experience of driving off the cart path and onto the fairway where you've hit a wonderful tee shot only to bounce around in the cart due to the gopher holes, only to find your ball sitting in a puddle of mud, surrounded by other puddles of mud.
I live close by and would LOVE to take advantage of this course, but it's just not worth the frustration of a badly neglected property.

Course condition was terrible, and pace was way too slow. Really a waste of time and money.

Absolutely terrible coarse, fairways are rough feels like cart will rattle apart, no flat ground anywhere to be found, sprinklers going off in tee boxes, can't even get a drink from cart because they are no where to be found. Save your money and go somewhere else

Played this course with a few of my buddies and was in complete awe of how awful this course is. We decided to try it because the pictures show an actually well maintained course maybe 4 years. Looks like the owners packed up ship and left this place to die. Fairways look like WW1 trench warfare and tee boxes had sprinklers going off when we were about to tee off. I wouldn’t be as frustrated as I am, but this place charged us a WHOPPING $60. I wouldn’t even let them pay me $60 to play this atrocious excuse of a “golf club”. Better yet, maybe they should fund the chiropractor I am going to need after driving their carts with zero shocks. Do better. This is a joke.

Honestly, This is the worst Golf course in San Diego, this place is in ruins and that is being kind. Played there 8/17 and it makes you want to quit playing golf! It so upsetting that they would let this once awesome course go to waste. $83 for a $25 course. 5 1/2 round of absolute misery. DO NOT BE FOOLED, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. **To the owners just close this place already! Pete Dye would not want to his design in this shape.
Angelique, "Cart Girl" Has a great sense of humor, knowledgeable, and the only thing to look forward too.. I really hope she moves on to another course. As my group will never return.

Beautiful scenery overlooking the mountains. Beautiful girls servicing beverages. Fairways were decent. Going left or right can be troublesome with large sand traps. All the greens were in good shape. Some reviews were negative. We are from Wisconsin and sometimes there can be a lot of whiners in this world. In everything give thanks. Also nice clubhouse and practice putting greens. It's the best I have golfed this year.

Reviewing only the golf course here. The starter and pro-shop guys are great. The course is a disaster. Not maintained and way too expensive for its condition. Except for hole 18, not a fairway in sight - just dirt and grass patches and leaves everywhere. The course sucks all the fun out of golf. If Carlton Oaks Country Club management really cares, they would give the course more attention and revive it to a standard achieved by most courses in San Diego County.

I played the links today at Carlton Oaks. I’m visiting on vacation while on leave from Army. I was excited to play this 18 as I had heard amazing things about it. I’m mediocre at golf. Shoot mid 80s low 90s depending on the day. So this is just an opinion based upon my experience today from a non pro golfer who pays to play, not paid to play. This review isn’t intended to defer people from playing this course. By all means go play it for yourself. Your experience may be different from mine.
Started at the driving range. It was pretty rough. The range balls were cracked, face ripped off of some. Not the quality of ball I want to hit when I am paying, and using my club faces against. However the price for the buckets is fair. $7 bucks for a small bucket.
From there I moved to the 1st hole. The layout of the links is challenging and fun. I really enjoyed the experience. However, the fairways, and bunkers are not cared for properly. Play a lot of golf, and all over the country. Can’t tell me they are. Had two bunker shots today, and hitting the sand was like hitting concrete. Couldn’t even see my shoe tracks in the sand, and I’m 185 lbs. It’s Not what I want to put the club face against. The fairways are very hard, and roll really well, yet they are the same. Not a lot of chances to really compress the ball for fear of bending a shaft, or knocking up the club face. Learned early on this course to not take a divot. (Some fairways were actually decent, just not the majority.) Not sure what can be done about the squirrels and gopher holes.
All in all, I paid 27 bucks to play the 509pm slot. Played solo, had a great time, the course had its challenges and views. Would I go back… eehhh maybe after a good rain hits for a few days.. soften things up. As far as pricing, it was fair and reflected the condition of the course. Just wish they enforced divot fixes, and plugs/ball marks on the greens. 3/5 from me. But go check them out for yourself, it’s golf after all. Not every course, and player experience will the same. Give em a try.
