They took great care of my old Pfaff. Very good work at reasonable rates, and they CARE.

Thank goodness for this place and their service department. Need a sewing machine looked at - go here. Drive as far as you need to - you'll be happier in the end.

I love Village. I’ve bought machines from them, supplies and notions from them, and they’ve worked on everything from my fancy, computerized embroidery and sewing machines, to my serger, my coverstitch machine, and my vintage Johnson Ruffler Machine. They are wonderful.

I have a lovely white Singer Featherweight that I like to use for travel projects. After paying an ungodly $175 to get it serviced at Richmond Vacuum & Sewing, I struggled with a few things but thought it was something that I was doing wrong. Since I only have used it about 8-10 times, I was pretty surprised that the motor seemed to be slowing down. I checked the manual and discovered: belt being too tight could be the problem. I got a screwdriver to give it more space but guess what? It was already at the closest position.I took my sewing machine to Village Sewing Center in Santa Rosa where John, the owner, immediately identified several problems with my Featherweight:1. First, the cost for the servicing of $175 - he was shocked and wanted to know "What did he DO to it?"2. The belt is basically a rubber band - not the leather belt that allows proper adjustment and doesn't put inappropriate stress on the machine. This is a popular machine with widely available parts. There's no excuse for this failure.2. Bobbin tension can be adjusted with a screw -- he showed me how to do this correctly.3. Top thread tensioner should not be at "0" -- he took it apart, adjusted and reassembled it, fine tuning the tension on the bobbin tension.4. Showed me the points for lubrication and demonstrated a couple of other items that were missed in Wilson's $175 Featherweight servicing. My total cost? $9.86 for the actual Singer Featherweight belt and the machine runs like a dream. Moral of the story: Do not go to a vacuum shop with your sewing machines. It's expensive to go to either Berkeley or Richmond Vacuum & Sewing Center and there really are options where people are more professional when it comes to sewing machines.

Could not have been happier with Kathy and Jeannie. Thought I was going to have a repair bill, and Kathy just rethreaded it for me, and explained what had happened. Jeannie carried my machine to the car for me when she realized I was walking with a cane. Really kind, friendly people who seem to enjoy what they’re doing. Thanks, ladies. You have a new customer!

The best fabric and sewing machine repair in Santa Rosa as far as I'm concerned. Thread selection large and somewhat oriented towards quilting and embroidery. I don't know much about their machine sales as I own vintage machines, but the selection seems quite good. They also offer excellent classes. I learned to quilt in one of theirs about 10 years ago.

They really go the extra mile(s)! Post-maintenance of my beloved Bernina 1130, the foot pedal got stuck in the carrying case. Shop staff made an emergency house call to extract it. Thank you, John & Cathy!

Try as you might you are not going to get a better product, better service, or a better price than at either of the Village Sewing Centers. People actually know what they are talking about and don't try to fast talk you. The customer service is superb but the machine service is incredible. The owner, John, has his finger on the pulse of everything that is going on in the stores and he is just a text away to his employees for fast, straight answers to complicated questions. It's in a field all its own.

I enjoyed my interactions with them, I'm now anxiously waiting to find out what they found about repairing my old, from the 50's singer, and when I can pick it up.

I needed to have my sewing machine checked so after seeing so many 5 stars I decided to try Village Sewing Center. Well those 5 stars were right! I walked in and placed my machine on the counter and said I thought it might need an overhaul. One of the repair people just happened to be there, looked at my machine and started testing it and opening up areas to check for dust, wound up threads etc. Considering I had never taken it in for a check up since getting it (many years), and only oiling and dusting it out myself, he was surprised at how clean it was. I asked him a few questions about some of the nobs and what their purpose was and he proceeded to show me all kinds of things...how this and that works... I mean he must have spent 15 minutes checking my machine, testing it out and then showing me how things work and answered every one of my questions. I asked how much I owed and he said "Nothing"... I was stunned... Not sure who all would do something like that in this day and age. Reminded me of the store I bought the machine from long ago. They were so helpful in the same way and I thought I'd never find a place like that again. I was definitely wrong. These guys are awesome!!

I was recommended to try this place and now I love it too, they did a great job on my older Bernina and my 1930s featherweight. Very reasonable rates, super helpful and knowledgeable, fast, and so pleasant to work with.
