Not original owners, was sold to new ownership. Lady at the front desk was not very welcoming. I felt scammed. Had to go through 3 checks, they charged me for 2, I totally get it. But my hair stood up on the back of my neck, i just dont know. The original owners raced cars and were very welcoming, sad to see them go. I'd been taking my truck here 10 years. Go across the street to the lady. I will not be back, and I don't think they would care.

Staff highly knowledgeable in various aspects of the CA Smog System & systematic ways to reset Sensors, Drive cycles, hot/cold as well as major repairs thaaaaaattt ARE NEEDED & not just trying to sell you sump'in you may not really need. Honesty ‼️?‼️What a, Concept.
Competitive prices as well. My vehicle is in middle of title transfer & I couldnt go to the Smog Referee Program & after replacing many Sensors, Parts & finally some Diagnostics revealed I needed much work to make it able to Pass a Smog Test.
Highly Recommend FSR for your vehicle(s) & Peace of mind ‼️?‼️

Oh how I wish I has read any of these reviews before letting Lucas and his son anywhere near my car ! Also do not bother wasting your time posting a review on their supposed third party review site because as I found out the hard way, when a complaint goes on there that they (FSR) do not like they tell the site not to post it. As the site told me when I emailed them asking my reviews were not posted they informed me that FSR was their customer not me and they had to abide by their wishes. Now that I am again having issues with the transmission that they "rebuilt" for me they threatened to sue me and take legal action if i " slandered " them on the internet. Funny I told them to be slanderous it would have to be inaccurate. Long story short- after I paid them $7500.00 to rebuild my 2017 Chevy 2wd Tranny I started experiencing bad gas mileage lack of power RPMs tacking out and an extreme exhaust smell in the CAB of family SUV. I begged them to look at after I paid them for an oil change approx two months after getting my truck back from them, they refused without me paying them again for a diagnostic fee in the ballpark of another $300-$400.00. Not knowing myself how the tranny connects to the exhaust system I thought maybe it was a warrany issue with Chevy- So i took it to Chevy- Chevy thinking it was an exhaust manifold issue therefore a warranty issue was willing to cover all costs including my rental; but when they started tearing it down they found the donut ( gasket) where the transimssion connects to the exhaust stuff was completely missing. I had them stop work immediately and I gave FSR the opportunity to tow it their shop and fix it at their expense and pay Chevy for the work done so far. They refused, blamed, Chevy and things got nastier (long story for another time) but lets just say i was kicked out of their shop while waiting for the owner Lucas to come talk to me which he didn't but his belligerent who did the work did. Anyhow I had to pay another $1000.00 plus to chevy to fix their work and another $300 for rental car fees. fast foward less than a year but 23000 miles later and guess what...transmission problems again, two out of three bolts on the torque converter gone and or sheered off and the fly wheel same thing. My extended service warranty won't cover the work because it wasnt part failure but installer failure, so i am out another $3500 plus rental car fees, I gave FSR the opportunity to fix it and they refused, claiming because its out of warranty and becasue i attempted to to post bad reviews about them and lastly because I filed a complaint with BAR that they would do NOTHING to help me and then threatened me to not post bad comments. I also let the owner Lucas convince me that the best way to avoid future tranny problems with Chevy was to have THEM (FSR) rebuild the transmission and use upgraded parts, so i did and I paid over $5000.00 for parts which have failed because of the installer, but also apparently only had a 12000 mile warranty, where as had I had a remanufactured transmission, it would have cost me less and carried a much longer warranty. ITs true what they say about hind site! Please do your research before letting work on your car.

Brought my small Mercedes RV to get a smog check today. I was concerned because I didn't have actual registration renewal hardcopy paperwork from the DMV. (I had a picture of it with the barcode.) The lady that was helping me told me that if they had to write the information down by hand, it would cost an additional $10, over and above the $130ish they were going to charge for the smog check. I said that would be totally fine, but I asked if she'd be willing to try to print the photo of the paperwork that was residing on my phone. She said she would be willing to try, but we ran into a glitch because Apple is now using a photo format that their computers could not read. (Not their fault)At that point, I asked again if they would try just scanning the barcode directly from my phone. She was very reluctant to do so the first time I asked the question. This time around she said she'd be willing to try it, but did not want to be responsible for holding my iPhone in case she dropped it and broke it. I promised her I would not hold her responsible if she held my phone for the 10 seconds, it would take to scan the barcode. The conversation was still cordial at this point, but I started to wonder why she was throwing up road blocks. At this point, she asked for the keys, and was going to apparently drive a motorhome into a service bay. It would've required her to back up my vehicle, which has plenty of blindspots, and maneuver, with a 3 point turn, into the service bay (not impossible, but not a slam dunk either). I politely asked what I thought was a normal question. "Have you driven a motorhome before?" She gave me a look of disdain and said: "I'm a licensed smog technician and professional driver"! My reply was, "Don't take it personally, I meant no offense." "If you were going to handover the keys to an RV to someone you didn't know, I think it's not that unreasonable to ask if they have driven a vehicle of that size before." Her response was , "You don't have to get a smogged here if you don't want." All of you have run into businesses that give you the feeling that they have enough business and don't really need your $$. This is one of them. So I turn around, got back in the RV and drove across the street to Coogler's Auto Repair. When I walked in the Coogler's I told the person at the counter that I didn't have any paperwork. His response was, "No problem. We just scan a barcode in the door." "It's going to cost $47" and about 30 minutes. They were done in 15 minutes. Every issue at Coogler's, was responded to with "No problem". Every issue at FSR was met with "Oh this is a problem!"

Old school style shop. Ruby was helping my daughter with a few issues on her FORD fushion eco(fix or repair daily) which was fixed in a few hours both times we brought to FSR. Ruby is straight up, helpful and honest. It's so rare these days..we appreciate your kindness and prompt service. Glad to find a great auto/smog shop for our vehicle's.

Either FSR was trying to scam me or are absolutely incompetent or a mixture of both. Car Max contracts with them for warranty issues so after my 2018 Mazda cx 5 started pouring smoke out the hood I had it towed to FSR for a diagnostic and they said my water pump needed to be replaced. Now I'm not a mechanic but the car was about to blow and was leaking oil heavily so a bad water pump didn't really add up and Car Max said it wasn't covered under warranty so I had to pay out of pocket $280 for FSRs diagnostic. Luckily the manufacturer warranty covered it but not for a water pump. I towed it to Mazda in San Rafael (great experience there) and they said "bad news, turns out FSR didn't do a good job, the water pump was perfectly fine but you have cracks in the cylinder heads". A pretty expensive repair but was covered by their warranty which they repaired. So it has me wondering how the hell did FSR come to the conclusion of a bad water pump and saw no evidence of oil leaking when really the engine needed major work??? It's like going to the hospital for a heart attack and they doctor says your toe needs to be amputated. Nice FSR and to put the cherry on the top Lucas is full of himself. No wonder you changed your business name. Thank God you never worked on our car and the hell was a boat in the garage??? Wow

This is my first Yelp review I have ever written. I had such a horrible experience with this place that I had to take the time to let anyone and everyone know that you should never ever take your vehicle here even for a simple smog check. This is the worst shop I have ever encountered. They do horrible work, don't fix the orginal problem, made me wait and wonder when my vehicle would be done and then made excuses for putting the the wrong part on when I had to take it back. I was absolutely appalled by their lack of accountability. They serviouly put my safety at risk by doing such shoddy work. Every low rating on here is completely accurate. I wish I could rate them at zero.
