I had a late night emergency and needed a toilet plunger. The app says the Calistoga Safeway has it in stock. It’s not on the shelf. I asked the cashier if he could check if it’s in stock. He told me that it’s in stock but he doesn’t know where to find it. He tells us to have a good night. What???
I asked another cashier to check in the back because we were told it’s in stock. He calls over ANOTHER employee, who is dressed like a manager in a black polo. He tells him to go look in the back. We wait 10 minutes and see the employee who is supposed to be looking in the back mopping the floor. What???
We wait another 10 minutes and can’t find anyone to help us throughout the store. Who treats people like this? No attempt to make the moment right. No empathy. No consideration.
If I was stubborn enough, we could’ve stood there all night and they would’ve waited us out until they closed. Absolutely ridiculous.

This is a well run store. The Checkers are friendly. The shelves are well stocked. It is a classic american Super Market. We often shop here.

I stopped by this location on the way home from work for Coffee creamer. I go to the express line of 12 items or less to see the lady in front of me have 40 plus items. I put my creamer on the conveyer belt and the customer rudely says to me “she’s closed, and I’m her last customer. Go to a different line.” The associate laughed and said nothing to me so I picked up my creamer and went to the line next to her. The employee proceeds to laugh again with the customer and tell her good job for “telling me off.” Another customer walks up after and she takes them. I asked for the store manager and she just shrugged her shoulders and did nothing.
This store is less than a mile from my house and I do most of my shopping here. I will not be back.

Good store, the sushi sales are extremely helpful. The prices are a bit up there, but the food is quality. Not the most perfect store and experiences aren’t always perfect and some food may not be in the store, but the experiences are usually good. The rewards system is also very nice.

First, I want to acknowledge the extremely helpful Safeway employees, Alfonso in the Deli Section, and Tammy in self-checkout. I shop at this store often, and my complaint is usually that their berries sometimes go bad in a day or two (without any way of knowing), and things like pico de gallo are often 1 day away from expiry. People in the store are helpful and apologetic, but when I take the complaint to corporate (Albertons), it takes weeks to get a meaningless response. The latest complaint is that Safeway has a two-tiered discount system, one a members discount, and another an e-coupon code thing. Unfortunately, the store has terrible wifi access, so one can't activate the e-coupon within the store. This results in getting to checkout with the expected discount, then not being able to get it (and these discounts are often sizeable...about ten dollars on two items today). Many seniors shop at this store, at its a confusing ordeal. As some have noted, nearby Oliver's has much better bread and produce, not really that much higher priced on some items. Also, many common items are under lock and key (notably batteries), and it take forever to get an attendant. The self-checkout people are a saving grace, often letting us buy alcohol if we ring up separately with them, saving time and hassles.

The pharmacy at this location has been on the decline for the past few years. Now we are dealing with longer lines, slower refills, & short staff. Yesterday I went to the pharmacy to pick up an order that my doctor said would be ready. I guess the clerk Nichole was having a bad day or had a bad interaction before I got there because to say she was rude and insensitive is an understatement. I could barely get a word in when she started ranting about no one told my doctor when the item would be ready. I asked what can we do to get this filled today and then she got defensive & told me there are many patients who have time sensitive needs, it's not just me, and sometimes they aren't stocked to accommodate. Very defensive and finger pointing blame when all I needed was answers so I could get what I need so that my surgery wouldn't be postponed. I feel Nichole would benefit from customer service training and learn how to talk to customers with care & respect. A lot of our Oakmont residents come here and I would hate for one of our elders to experience this type of hostile and unfortunate interaction. The pharmacy needs to have their issues fixed otherwise they will lose more customers.

Never been treated so rudely by a checker. Had only 4 items at check out and the clerk was downright hostile. Had my clubcard ready and went to swipe when was abruptly told not too, she would be quicker, which was fine. She then proceeded to glare and instead of thank you was told "We are done here!" Followed with a glare. Have no idea what deserved that treatment.
