I've lived across the street from this safeway for the entirety of my 20 year old life. When I need to go shopping for grocery's I go to another grocer halfway across town because this Safeway is the worst Safeway I've been into. I've never been greeted inside or outside the store, self checkout is constantly not working and it seems as if they're understaffed based on the amount of cashiers they have working. This Safeway has about 70% of their products on a consistent basis, you will almost never go there and find any popular items in any department other than meat. As a former Safeway Bakery manager in Sonoma county this store has has consistently disappointed anyone I know who has shopped here. This has been going on for at least 3 years now, this was the grocery store i would shop at every week with my dad and now we both have almost completely stopped stopping in.

Shout out to this store, none of my clipped coupons worked, and the ladies at customers service went through my whole receipt and refunded me for the problem. Im only sad there was no more to the Vodka seltzer left, but its ok this store has great people working there.

Wrote the review below earlier today. Alberson's reply to my review referred me to their website to contact them. Hilarious!! Their website referred me to a "ChatBot." So; off i went on a very strange journey which ended with the Bot leading me down useless paths that were nothing more than dead-ends.Thank you @DawnM, Business Manager; but, it's obvious you've never attempted to first locate "Contact Us" within your Website, then interact with the "ChatBot." The deeper this goes the less likely I'm willing to pursue the matter.BTW; tried to change my address and got a message "system having trouble, please try again later."Really!!!I swear I'm never going to Safeway again. For month now it has been a constant battle to use coupons on my iPhone. Clip itScan the codeEtcToday it was Lays potato chips. The offer was $1.79After trying everything they charged me $4.97Did not notice until I went home to audit my receipt. Of course the Manager said it was my fault! At Safeway the customer is usually to blame. I had receipt; they refused to honor the deal, even though the coupon in their paper is clear.Really!!!So; for $3+ I'm going to return the chips, clip the coupon (again) then grab the chips. Then I'm going to Stand in line until they figure the issue and give me the coupon price. No more Safeway for me... there is too much competition to go through the coupon journey from h#ll.BTW 1;for about the last 6 months or so I've found at least one error on my receipt, sometimes more.I'm not blaming the clerks, it's clearly a complicated coupon system/policy.BTW 2; it's a nightmare for seniors, the disabled, those technically challenged.BTW 3; this store in particular has a lack of handicapped parking spaces.Good bye Safeway; we've been customers for over 50 years.

If I could give Zero stars, I would. I don't care for this location, due to the unprofessionalism that I see every time I come to this store. Today was no different. I went through the line and the cashier, (Drew) was too busy flirting with the young girl in line. The female seemed visibly uncomfortable. The cashier asked her for her phone number more than once. She blew him off the first time, then the man behind us stepped in and started talking to the cashier to distract him, so the girl could get away. This is one of many innapropriate situations I've seen while in thos store. I asked to speak to a manager about what I witnessed. I waited for at least 20 mins and no manager came. Yet another example of a poorly run store and company as a whole. Women shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable when they go grocery shopping. I'm sure nothing will be done, but I figured bringing it to even higher management, since no one at the store felt it to be serious enough, was necessary

Very disappointed in the quality of meat offered. Went to splurge on some steaks and the selection was next to nothing. What they did have looked terrible. Come on for the prices of steak up to $22/pound they should at least be edible. Needless to say I did not buy anything.

Terrible. The staff are really good and trying their best. But they are so understaffed and the shelves are so empty when it comes to sales or specials. Extremely disappointing. Yuck!

I've started coming to this location due to how close it is to where I live. If I'm not getting much, I can walk over and walk home. However, this is probably my least favorite Safeway in town. The layout seems completely off compared to the other ones in town. Like the flow is just off and weird. Takes forever to find what you are looking for. They don't have as vast of a variety of things. For example, I was looking for wonton strips. I walked the whole store multiple times looking in all the areas they should/could be in. Could not find them. Plenty of curton options but that wasn't what I was looking for. The staff isn't the most helpful either. There was a guy yesterday sweeping with headphones in and not pausing for customers to walk by. He walked right in front of me as if I were invisible. I asked another guy who was restocking if they had crumbled goat cheese and he just stared at me blankly. He was restocking the isle where I would normally find it at another Safeway but he had no idea. I hate getting frustrated while grocery shopping and I get incredibly frustrated at this location. I understand there are still shortages and turnover happening but there's just something about this location that's off. Again, the layout makes 0 sense.

Safeway is horrible. Customer service and cashiers are nonexistent. I feel like I'm bothering them when I shop there.

Always come to this location for my daily groceries, of course ever since the pandemic and shortage the shelfs can be minimal of some items time to time. Nice thing is you can mostly find a decent alternative. It has a over good deli and meat department. The staff at this location are always sweet and helpful in every department. During peak hours parking and long lines are normal, of course not all lanes are open and you can notice a few check out stations out of service, but i always get lucky with getting in and out in decent time.

This is probably the worst Safeway in Sonoma county. Nothing is ever in stock. Whomever orders must order for their own personal preferences as basic items are never available. Sooooo frustrating going to this store and NEVER ABLE TO FIND THE THINGS I NEED!!!

The customer service in the meat department was poor during my experience. When I called them from home asking if they had a particular meat, they told me to come to the store instead and immediately hung up on me. No respect at all. I had already came in the day before and there seemed to be no one working in the meat department. I asked the employees up front if there was anyone that could assist me and they told me they were probably on break and that I'd have to wait. If that is so, you would think they would have other employees to take their place. I understand if there were less staff on the clock than usual but we as customers can't be expected to have all the time in the world to wait around until an employee's lunch break is over. I generally did not appreciate how the staff spoke with me on the phone.

Donna in Deli was so sweet! Customer service is amazing. She cares 100% about her customers and teammates. I overheard her speak positively about other colleagues as well. I will continue to choose this location because of people like Donna at Safeway on Yulupa.

Apparently if your friends with the employees they will run over to the deli counter and take care of you. I waited 10 minutes because I told the young lady who finally showed herself from the back area that the gentleman by the cold cuts was before me. So I stood there and waited. 3 young kids got in line behind me and just when the young lady was done and ready to take my order an employee rushed in put on gloves and served his friends then left. I guess seeing me standing there was not enough for that young man to come help me. Plenty of other Safeway's to choose from. That just really irritates me.

First off: To all the one star reviews, this is a Safeway supermarket not a high end gourmet mom & pop market that caters to every specialty whim, fantasy, or unreasonable desire. In reality this Safeway is better than average over their other older buildings. My closest Safeway is Calistoga road, east side Santa Rosa. It's been there since the late 1960's. It's smaller, more cramped, cluttered than this newer Yulupa avenue store. Complain about constant employee turnover? Welcome to workplace reality. Pay scale at any supermarket is dismal. The low skilled high school drop-outs who work here are paid miserably low wages. Of course if an employee finds a job elsewhere that pays $1 / hour more that person is going to fly out the door. The old long tenured employees are the last vestiges of the unionized better paid people. Those older folks are usually knowledgable, helpful and cheerful. Appreciate those few folks because they are all close to retirement age and management wants them off the payroll. You want to meet surly supermarket employees? Go over to the Grocery Outlet on 4th street. I've had cashiers there actually snarl at me and I'm a well behaved, cheerful guy who greets service people with a happy tone of voice. If you're actually peeved and angry about this Safeway I suggest that you take a serious, honest attitude check about yourself, cut down on your caffeine habit that's making you cranky and chill out.

Also, if you want to bag your own groceries and pay an arm and a leg this is the place to go! Thank you
