I had a very stupid elementary question and called and the owner don took his time and went out of his way to walk me thru an issue I was having even tho it had nothing to do with anything he created. I know many ppl that have had their trans built here and everyone is happy. This is how a local biz should operate.

I blew the reverse gear on my '75 Scout and drove it like that (always needing to park where I had a roll back getaway plan) for longer than I'd like to admit because every other shop quoted me such a high price to fix it. That is until I was recommend to Nor Cal. They gave me a best case (just replace reverse ) and worst case (would need a full rebuild based on how the rest looked) quote before tearing into it to. The rest of it turned out to be shot, I came in and saw the components before they trashed them and I'm shocked it went forward at all with those. BUT they still ended up charging me less for a full rebuild than other shops wanted to just to replace reverse. That was 2 years ago with a lot of me beating on it in between and it still runs like a top with nice clean shifts. I also went in this week due to a clunking noise I couldn't put my finger on with another vehicle and it took 2 minutes of a test drive for Don to let me know he was 99% sure it was my transfer case. He didn't even hesitate to crawl under as well to get the best look he could without tearing it apart. That one happened to be covered under factory warranty or I would have used them again because they again quoted me a very fair price if they did need to rebuild it for me. Not many shops like this any more. They really are honest and just trying to help people out vs. gouge them. Russel even offered me a ride home when I dropped my Scout off and the ride I thought I was going to get from my GF wasn't working out. All around great guys who are also damn good at fixing transmissions.

Restoring a 66 T-Bird and Don rebuilt my transmission. He told me it would be done at a certain time and he was actually a week and a half early. He stands behind his work. I noticed somebody gave him a one-star because they couldn't get their car in within a certain amount of time and that just tells me he's that good. Thanks DonService: Transmission

I give 5 stars purely for the honesty and transparency given over the phone. The gentleman that I spoke to was frank about the level of service they can provide compared going elsewhere. He was open about their knowledge of the problem I was experiencing and provided professional recommendations other than going to the dealership. I would definitely bring my vehicle here in the future if I need assistance.

Only place I will take my vehicle for transmission work. Don is honest and won't upsell or BS you on repairs. He stands by his work and has been in the business for years. If you need your transmission built this is the shop! Don and Russell are very knowledgeable and respectful. They completely tore down my 47re transmission, did a great rebuild to handle the extra power. They stand by their work and always are friendly when I go for adjustments. If you need a basic service, or a full race transmission built, go here. Build appointments could be months out, but worth the wait 100%.Service: Transmission

Didn't do business with them but they helped me diagnose an issue with my car. Ended up swapping the entire transmission myself but I'd go to them in a heartbeat if I need to go inside the transmission.
