Do not work with Mead Clark. We ordered extremely expensive doors and windows from them for our house. When the doors came in (finally, after months of waiting), the sliding doors don't work at all - they don't close, they don't lock. It's clear the wrong doors were sent. Mead Clark shrugged and said we'll have the manufacturer come out and the first available appointment is in two months. Good luck securing a house with no door in the meantime, that's your problem. Order from anywhere else, literally, anywhere else would be better.

If I could give them negative stars I would. They lie when they say they stand by their measurements. Then they stick you with the bill. Nightmare!

On multiple occasions I have tried to purchase items here (special order) I have tried in person and on the phone and via email. In person they said the system is closed as they were closing (15 min before end of day) and they took my information down and asked if I wanted to leave CC info. I said no and to call me in the morning and I will finalize order. They never called me back.I spoke to someone in person about a sliding door and that I wanted a quote. I said I would email them the details for a quote. they never replied.I called someone about a window and they emailed me the quote. I replied and signed off on the order and they never ordered the window.Save yourself the time and stress and work with friedmans or Home depot as they ended up being close to online pricing and actually returned calls and emails.

What a shame to be kicking myself for picking a lumber yard over a "big box" company. To the 6'2''ish associate with the Sacramento Kings black polo on today that walked away from my father and I for being "rude?" Let's run the scenario. My father and I came in to get a 1x6 (around 12 feet long total), and have it cut in half, and ripped if possible, since the size needed was 1x5. We come in, and are greeted by the man at the front desk. (You were very friendly, a tall blonde man with a beard, no issues with you.) He was speaking to another associate who ended up helping us. He guided us back to the wood, and showed what was available, 1x6 in 16 inch lengths. We can see the saw and my father asked if it can be ripped for us. The answer is no. Ok. It's a Lumber Yard with the tool right there, but fine, a lot of places need people authorized to use it. I worked at Home Depot 10 years ago, I got it. As he are discussing, another employee (A young man latino man in a neon yellow safety shirt) comes up and just interrupts us to ask the guy helping us a question. Again fine, but years of retail in mind, just let the customer know that it'll be just a second, but hey. I can let that slide too. Dad's frustrated, and says ok, well we can't take a 16, and we only need 12, can it be cut at least to length? The response is "Well if you're gonna buy it we can." My father is 70 years old, a Vietnam Veteran, has BUILT a few houses and roofed them for over 40 years. I don't have that experience, but I'm not ignorant to how a lumber yard is supposed to work. My father said, "So, you're gonna have me pay for all 16 feet, and keep what I don't need?" Then goes back over to look at the stock. The associate moves to hand him the wood, and I know my father, so I take it for him, politely, and then he moves just past my father and says, "You don't have to be rude," then gets on a soapbox about how it's not a big box store and blah blah blah. He walked away with us with that "Have a nice day" that really means 'we can refuse service'. I have worked retail for over 15 years over my life, and this situation was not one that would require that kind of remediation. When we went to Mission Ace and Lumber after, we had the wood cut to our specification with no issues, only paid for what we needed, and laughed about the ridiculousness we experienced with the wonderful associates there. My father and I both support smaller businesses. I don't need to be lectured on why they may not provide certain services, but if you can't cut wood to length at a lumber yard, maybe change the name to Mead Clark Blunder Company. Judging from these reviews, that's more accurate branding.

We are in the process of repairing some wind damage from the January storms. Our helper ordered materials from Mead Clark. When the materials were delivered they were wrong. We refused the delivery. Nothing even came off the truck. Mead Clark has been very difficult to deal with charging us restocking on the WRONG order. Finally after several phone calls, they are crediting us a portion of the restocking fee. Was not our error, it is theirs! If you use Mead Clark make sure you get what you order or they will charge you for their mistake. You would think that with the competition out there that they would be cognizant that they are local and treat customers fairly. If this had been our mistake we would have paid the restocking fee.

I'm seriously wondering where all these "rude staff" were because they ain't here, chief. Maybe they all went home when they heard my crew was coming. This was one of the best kept lumberyards and most patient staff me and team have used. We called ahead and the prices were exactly the same as quoted over the phone. They very patiently helped us find a company card an apprentice lost on premises when they went on a lumber run. One of the checkout clerks expertly advised us on what nailgun we should buy to replace our old dangerous one. They knew what we needed it for (small nails for fence pickets) and recommended a beautiful, affordable Hitachi nailgun that every employee loved and could use safely. Their prices are fair and the selection is great. Huge boxes of inexpensive high quality fasteners. The only issue I have is the complex and easy to bungle checkout system. You enter from the NORTH entrance, not the east entrance which is the first one you encounter if you exit off the 101, pick your lumber, strap it down, go inside to the cashier, recite your whole order, walk back out, drive to the guard shack, they count quantities, and you have to do it all over again if you goof up a dimension or quantity or don't disclose something you already have (concrete bags from another vendor almost got me in trouble. I had no idea they sold those.) I'd love to see them adopt a Friedmans-style inbound/outbound guard shack/checkout counter combo, or have a ticket written up by the yard and paid for in the office, like Berry's Lumbermill in Cazadero. Thanks Mead Clark team! We are stoked to use you again.

Might want to tell who's ever driving truck 15 that maybe in his world they don't use blinkers but on this one we use blinkers all the time.

Kevin out back was a great help in loading and securing load. Not only was he helpful but polite with good knowledge of load bearing and tie down. The front desk beat the big box stores by $20 a sheet. Keep your money local with local businesses.
