Heartbreaking. Devastating. I used this salon for color because they offered a certain color line, I lost much of my hair during the few months I was a customer, and in my opinion the two are probably related. I really struggled with posting this but I want other women to have some warning. Here are the details. This year I had to find a new colorist because mine stopped using Organic Colour Systems (OCS) due to the cost of shipping from the UK. I found the owner at Jolie Vous after hours of research on salons. She said she was also a devotee of OCS. I have used OCS for at least 15 yrs with extraordinary results. I sent the owner the formula. She said she had not seen this much hair in yrs. I paid a great deal more than I had paid in the past, but I wanted the OCS line. The owner said she was going to the UK and thought she might visit the OCS offices. I drove 55 mins each way because she said she would use the OCS line, and I was quite clear that this was why I was traveling this far. After the first appt, some of my hair fell out; I didn't think much of it. Then she taught a woman in the salon, as she said she would, how to use the OCS line. The young woman was kind, did a beautiful job, but approximately another quarter of my hair fell out over the next several weeks. My husband said, "I am terrified when I see how much of your hair is in the drain." I was terrified, too. I was trying to figure it out, thinking it could not be the hair color since I have used OCS for so long. After a couple of appts with the younger woman, I told the owner via text that I had lost half my hair, and her response via text was "Yikes!" I told both of them b/c I wanted to save the associate money on the formula. Finally my husband tried to put two and two together after he had seen me crying repeatedly over my hair loss. I am concerned that at my age I may never have anything remotely close again to the hair I had before. He suggested I ask if the salon was doing something new. I texted the younger woman and she called me. She admitted that they had changed the formula a couple of times. When I asked questions, she said hesitantly that the owner was using a developer (Trionics) and that she had changed to Joyco, which she said is less expensive than what the owner was using. I greatly appreciate her honesty and integrity, and from what she said, I could tell she was unaware that OCS even makes an activator with pharmaceutical grade hydrogen peroxide. The owner had not informed her or taught her how to use the full OCS line. She did not complain about the owner--but it was clear in her text and call that she was not aware there is an OCS activator. When she got off the phone, she called the owner. She said the owner told her to tell me, "Tell her to call the doctor." The owner left me a msg I could "schedule a time to talk." I asked her to tell me what developers she was using via text. No response. I talked to a colorist who had used OCS on my hair and she said there may be an ingredient that is not agreeing with my hair. She said they are "cutting corners" because OCS is expensive. Even under these dire circumstances, the owner was not telling the younger woman they should move to the full OCS line to try to mitigate any further hair loss. Even if she thought this was stress or health related, this change could have been made to mitigate damage. Also, the owner also did not try to mitigate the damage by changing to the OCS line when I initially reported I had lost half of my hair. With regard to health and stress, I have been through many stressful situations in the last 20 yrs. I have the same health concerns I have had for many yrs. I lost a tiny amount of my hair in 1995, but I have never lost it since, and at that time, I knew only because I could see it on the white rug. But I never noticed the hair loss as I do now. It was never a crying matter. Coincidence? In my opinion, this is probably not a coincidence--the hair loss started when I started going to this salon; when I stopp
