New management; much higher prices. This used to be a great place for nursery values. The good news is that they are working through all the plants to place sticker labels on everything. But they've taken away the description and picture poles, leaving many other things unknowable. The big surprise was that the prices have skyrocketed. 4" pots and 1 gal plants that used to be $2.75 now go for $6.00 - $7.50. If you're on their email list and saw a Dec sale going on for $2 each, look closer...it's only on the plants in one greenhouse (14), and some are unlabeled or scraggly. In the future, they're only going to carry drought-resistant plants, which is good, but will further limit selection.

There are plant sales a couple times a year. Sign up for the email notice: There, you may find the species available, upcoming events and other information on the sales. Most of the focus is on California native plants, but there are some that are not native - like Rosemary, citrus trees, apple trees and such. There were many Sonoma County Master Gardeners there to explain the plants, answer questions and explain programs to convert your water guzzling lawn into a water sipping botanical garden of native plants - at a minimal cost. I noticed they had a big collection of succulents and cactus. "Nearly all cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti" - from If you read that sentence a few time, it's guaranteed to make you crazy. Yes, there are a few weeds growing in some of the pots. I pulled them out when I got home. Problem solved. I grabbed a cart and loaded up on the one gallon plants. I took photos of my haul so I'd know what I had and where to plant them. Bring your cash or a check. I saw only two inmates. They helped load the plants into my truck, handed out literature and gave directions. That was a bonus because they seemed happy to help and see people enjoy the plants. Wondering what to do with that book you have on differential calculus? You can bring all of your unwanted books and they will add them to the prison libraries.

've been here a couple times. Only on appointments, never on sale days. They have a lot of plants to choose from, but the species selection is very hit or miss. Their plant were pretty healthy, most did pretty well. The same plants would cost 8 or 9 bucks at Home Depot or 14 at Harmony farms or Urban Tree Farm.. lol.. Also, the mulch they grow their plants in seems to have plent of weeds, so be carefull with that. Anyways, it is great for cheap plants but don't expect too much more. I believe they only take checks.

I've been here twice. The selection is so large that with my limited gardening experience it was a bit overwhelming. However, after talking to the guys that work there and seeing the very very low prices I easily got over my hesitancy and bought a ton of great plants for a new garden. You have to make a reservation or attend one of their Plant Sale Saturdays. But other than this it's terrific for the buyer and it's also a great cause. Highly recommend.

AMAZING DEALS ON PLANTS, I filled my car and re-did both my front & back yards! Located next to the North County Detention Facility near the Airport, you'll find rows of carefully potted trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, vines, and food crops! The plants are part of the rehabilitation component of the Jail's vocational program that "allows inmate volunteers to help propagate and preserve the environment while they are paying off their debt to society." You'll find over 200 varieties of plants from seedlings to large 24" box trees. Check the website for a complete list, including California natives and drought-resistant plants. Prices are listed there, too! (the prices really are amazing). YOU MUST MAKE AN APPT TO VISIT THE FACILITY. Hours vary but are generally mornings, during the week. Be sure to read the instructions on the website & make an appointment before your visit. Note: the address says Windsor but its next to the Santa Rosa Airport.
