Our experience in a pet room with our dog was really good. The floor is polished concrete and the room was relatively sound proof. The free breakfast is very light but nice that it's offered. The decor is fun and there's lots of places to chill outside. Despite the 80s look we found the rooms to offer modern amenities.I will say, beware tall people. In the rooms and common spaces are various light fixtures hung such that anyone over 5'10" are probably going to hit their head.

Love the Retro Style. Bed was very comfortable. Room was clean & quiet. Heater was all or nothing (fan/motor constant) but once room was warm we shut it off till morning & stayed warm enough. The breakfast/lounge room was quirky with lots of games & bar area. Landscaping on the property was also nicely done. The park next door was great for walking our dog. Definitely will stay here again!!!

The Astro Motel in downtown Santa Rosa is a great place to stay. We had a room with a kitchen for our month-long stay. The bed was comfortable, and the staff was helpful. Parking can fill up, but there's space behind the building. It's a good choice for a stay in the heart of Santa Rosa near a Mall, City Hall and police station. The breakfast was not what we expected it was just coffee yogurt and granola no eggs baccon or waffles.

Stayed for one night. We always stay at The Astro when we visit family. We like the rooms, grounds, and location. We have a dog and it's very dog friendly. There are good restaurants and the Red Bird Bakery close by. Juilliard park is across the Street. It looked safe. Room is fine even with a concrete floor. There was a nice heater. Bed was ok, li fine. There's a cool lounge area with vintage audio equipment. Continental breakfast was coffee, tea, apples, and yogurt. The coffee was weak for my taste. The yogurt kept body and soul together until we could make it to the nice bakery around the corner. We accidentally scooped up the popcorn/nuts/caramel bags on the counter. They charged us $12 each and they were stale. We don't suggest those, actually strongly advise not eating the food in the room. There are a couple of cool areas to sit with nice sculptures. We'll go back but not eat the food in the room.

I can't praise this little gem enough! What a stellar remodeling it has gone through! From the moment we checked in, we knew we made the right choice the staff is friendly and made excellent recommendations for dinner and breakfast . We stayed in room 113 and as soon as we opened the door we were WOWED, what a chic place and clean and modern. Loved every thing they have done outside and the sculpture garden. We will come back and request to be in a different room, just so we can experience the different decorations.

I enjoyed staying at the Astro. It is a small hotel with simple but well-loved accommodations. The staff members were super friendly and helpful. And the interior design and landscaping are impeccable--it's a blast from the past in mid-century modern.

Over priced motel with concrete floors. Nicely decorated with retro designs but way to expensive for what you get. So many signs telling you that the artifacts in the room need to be preserved, I felt like I was in a museum not a place to lay my head. They offer a granola continental breakfast but nothing to write home about. I would not stay here again. I can find more bang for that buck somewhere else.

I booked one night at The Astro through booking.com the night before my trip and got a great rate. ($128 total) I arrived early in the day and was trying to pass some time but it was a hot one so I called to ask if I could check in a bit early (an hour early). I spoke to Bob and he said no problem. Come on over.Bob is the best! Very charming and made me feel welcome. He also walked me to my room to showed me around.I love mid-century style so the decor and design was totally up my alley. My room (#217) was super clean and I was very impressed. I was able to fill up my water bottle in the lounge and the next morning I also grabbed breakfast there as well. I had coffee, yogurt (Clover!) and a donut. They also had some fresh fruit.I was very happy with my stay and would totally stay again.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at The Astro! They were accommodating of us checking in early & were very sweet overall. It's a cute motel with neat art. A small breakfast is offered in the morning. Interesting little knick knacks are in the vending machine near the lounge/food area. Not a ton of amenities, but that's okay for a small motel.

This is one of those 60s era motels that garnered a bad reputation over the years and then was bought and renovated in 2017 into what could now be safely called a boutique motel. It still sits in a transitional neighborhood, but it's heading in the gentrification direction. There are two floors, somewhere around 30 rooms, and each one of them is decorated differently. They all follow an artsy motif though, with lots of little cool bits thrown in for good measure. From the moment I checked in, with Elsa in the front office, I knew I was in for a very different experience. The L-shaped motel cradles an outdoor garden and sitting area for motel guests. There are two different parking lots, both are small and if the motel was completely full, I'm not sure where everybody would park, the street? Definitely not an easy spot to park an RV or big truck.Once you slide the key card and step in to the room you are greeted by more funky/cool art stuff, a very comfortable bed, nice big shower and even a mini bar! Although, as mini bars, go, this is no big deal, just a couple of cans of generic beer, and some cartons of water. Obviously not as cheap as a motel 6, but in such a different league than your average motel. A nice alternative to those generic chain motels. The room also had microwave/fridge for you DIYers. The bed was a fluffy dream and the bathroom shower had TWO shower heads, one overhead and one on the wall that you can move around. It's a rare motel that offers that kind of a shower experience, just give it several minutes for the hot water to make it to your room. Like I said before, not really in a walking neighborhood, but only a couple minutes drive to just about anything you might need while on the road. For those of you looking for a little something different, and with an eye for pop art, this might just be your new favorite spot.

Super cute renovated 1960s motel. Great price. Quiet stay. Yummy breakfast of local granola, apples, and coffee. Room was exquisitely decorated and the bed was comfy. Friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Absolutely lovely motel just a few blocks south of downtown Santa Rosa. They did an excellent job with the renovation and the motel is bursting with personality! My only suggestion would be to add a few more options to the breakfast - it was just yogurt, apples, and coffee when we checked it out. We would definitely stay here again.

Construction outside. I don't think they have double Pane windows and the gap on the bottom of the door needs a thicker threshold. Too much noise was coming in. Other than that very clean, beautiful artwork and sculptures. Retro accomplished.Rooms: Nice, artsy, clean.

Retro hotel with really nice rooms. The whole hotel is actually very nice, wonderfull lounge. You can hire bikes here, they have cocktail evenings and fantastic WIFI. Beds are good, foam bed, a bit small for two persons, still great. Breakfast is not to much, yoghurt and granola. Period. No coffee machine on room and limited free coffee till 11 am. Walking distance from down town. Recomended to stay if you visit Santa Rosa.PS. If you get room 108, ask for another room. This room is next to the laundry that starts at 06:30 and you WILL hear the noise.....Rooms: Rooms are really nice and retro.Walkability: Walking distance to Down Town and shopping mall.Noteworthy details: No pool.
