This is about a particular Front Clerk #12 and not the entire post office. This must be the second worst experience I have ever had at the post office, and I would rank it as the worst customer service experience overall in my LIFE. The young woman at the Will Rogers Branch, located at 1217 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90403, as identified on both of my receipts as Clerk #12. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWFUL; she was eating right in front of me, using her fingers to put food in her mouth, and then went on to suck and lick her fingers, long dragon nails and all when she was finished. She literally made me wait until she was done eating before assisting me. She also did not clean her dirty hands. When she finally completed her meal, I had to be the one to start my customer service request . I had to wait until she was finished EATING at the front counter. I noticed earlier that she rarely thanked customers after their transactions. However, after our transaction, she slammed my receipt on the counter and fell silent. Even though I said thank you and wished her a nice day, she did not reply. I found myself being excessively polite to compensate for her rude, unpleasant, and disgusting behavior. WHY on earth would you allow someone like her, with such a horrible, foul attitude, to work at the USPS, especially at the front counter of a business? WOW!! What a STANK attitued.

The worst customer service (?was she a real postal worker?) —and unreliable service. I took my dmv registration in on an early week day —2 days before it needed to be postmarked. DMV just sent me a letter regarding a late fee due to it not being postmarked by the due date. It doesn’t even look like/seem like/function like a legitimate post office at this point.

This year there is one female staff member in this office giving the worst customer service ever seen, so unprofessional. The other staff members are ok. If I want any additional explanation I just go to the USPS at 7th Street and get it all done with super helpful staff there.

Last week, I found myself in a bit of a pickle when I realized I had forgotten to mail a birthday card to my grandma in Slovakia. The main post office was closed, and only Feve was working. It was almost closing time, and there were at least four people ahead of me trying to use the self-mailing machine. I asked Feve if they had any birthday cards for sale, but she informed me that they did not. However, she kindly pointed me to a nearby store where I could purchase one. She also mentioned that the self-mailing machine doesn’t accept postcards to Europe unless I already have a forever stamp. Her suggestion was to try the UPS store next door.
I followed her advice and bought a card, but when I got to the UPS Store, I was shocked to learn that it would cost over $300 to ship it, outrageous!
I returned to the post office, hoping for a small miracle as it was just about 4:58 PM or maybe even 5 PM. When I explained how much the UPS store wanted to ship the card. Without hesitation, Feve stepped in to help me. She unlocked the door to the main post office and got me the forever stamps. Thanks to her quick actions, I didn't fail, and made my 90-year-old grandma happy.
I am grateful for Feve’s kindness, as she could easily turn me away. Thank you.

It works but they don't open until about 10:05 or whenever they feel like it. Even though they have a bunch of stuff in the back they like to make us wait a few extra minutes. Hopefully things change under the new administration to have more on time staff working for us the people. You can print your own postage for less from Pirate ship.com. never wait in long lines again, just drop off your package

Everyone at this location is lovely and so nice! 5 stars for the staff.
But as for the timing:
If you are a working stiff like me, hoping to drop your package off before the 9am shift starts, this ain't the place for you. It's the only business I've ever come across where the hours posted are *suggestions* instead of reality. Don't worry, you can always go on Saturday...that is unless your second job is on Saturday... in which case best of luck sucker!

The worst email I've ever received, they were on the phone and eating and ignoring me.

The only problem is being understaffed; the counter person was warm and congenial but there were 20 people on line at opening and just one person to handle them all. We hear a few voices out back but no one came forward.
Incidentally, a postcard sent 14 months ago from Iceland arrived this week in NY; is that what you mean by ‘Forever’ stamps?

I just noticed several people expressed unhappiness with the post office and some of their staff. It is true that there are longer lines than at other times, on certain holiday occasions, on certain days of the week, and at certain times of the day. However, there are times when there is hardly a line at all. Above all, the staff works diligently and to the best of their ability to serve each and every customer who comes through the door. There have been many times I have arrived and there was a line out the door. But I would get in the line anyway because from my experience the line has always moved along quite quickly. In no time at all the twenty+ people ahead of me were taken care of very nicely and efficiently, and it soon became my turn in just a matter of minutes.
The truth is that we live at a time and in a society where time is short for many people and many of us have little patience. We live at a time when many of us expect immediate gratification, and may remember the days when the Post Office was a special place with a dozen counters to service the public. Those days are gone, unfortunately. However, we must appreciate the great service OUR post office provides us all. We must remember the birth of the postal service dates back to Benjamin Franklin when sending or receiving a handwritten letter was something special. With instant messaging via the Internet and cell phone texting, we have become spoiled.
What would Ben Franklin think about our Post Office today, and the truly immense volume of parcels and letters that are handled and almost all delivered to the intended recipient?
All I can say is: Thank you Ben and thank you to every postal worker, for the gift of communication they have afforded us.

People of SM, USPS is a problem top down & the two on 7th & Wilshire are both a mess. That extends to the carriers too. And like any org, yes there are exceptions, helpful, pleasant employees. But the the rule here is lazy & rude while in well paid union jobs with great benefits & pensions. In the 15 years in our neighborhood, we had two conscientious carriers, an older man & woman, who were replaced by at least 8 different carriers in the last 10 years. One young woman waltzed around our streets screeching daily on her cellphone with her friends, paying zero attention to correct addresses. Even her subs complained to the postmaster because she would leave her undelivered mail for the day to the subs to deliver another day. Guess what happened? Reassigned to another neighborhood, fireable offense in any other business. We’ve seen carriers napping in their trucks. Two credit cards never made it to our mailbox & had to be cancelled. And now reading mail with checks deposited at the 7th St facility have been stolen. What is happening?!
So friends, complain publicly and maybe management will start to change. It is disgraceful.

The employees don’t open the door on time. They waited today (Thursday aug22) until 10:12 am to open the doors, as you hear them laughing and taking their delivery food orders and tell you someone will open soon. Post office should hire new employees that follow rules. Fire the morning staff. And they don’t apologize for making you wait and late for work.

Honestly surprised by how friendly and efficient this location is. Maybe a change of management but all the things I was sceptical from the reviews on Google was not a worry at all. They also have parking at the back. A 5 star from me.

I went there for passport renewal and the employee was so calm and helpful. I had already filled up the forms and had just my photo taken from the rite aid around the corner (which was also a fast and pleasant experience and took less than 10 minutes). He patiently helped me to fill out the addresses/money order etc and double ckecked to make sure everything needed is being send. Overall a nice experience, which honestly I didn't expect given that it is a USPS.
