We stayed at Hotel Ambrose for 3 days and 2 nights, arriving on a Saturday evening. Since we had barely stayed long enough in the room, we specifically requested not to have room service on Sunday, but asked for cleaning on Monday instead. On Monday, we left for lunch before noon and returned around 3:30 PM, messaged them and expecting the room to be cleaned by then, only to find it hadn’t been.
When I approached the front desk to inquire, I was told that the room would be cleaned by 5 PM. I explained that we had a small child who needed a nap, especially after a 12-hour jet lag, and requested for the room to be cleaned sooner. Unfortunately, the staff informed me that they had no control over the timing, and the room would only be cleaned by 5 PM—whether we wanted it or not is the only option.
While the stay itself was decent, the service was very disappointing. For the price we paid, I would not recommend Hotel Ambrose, especially if you're looking for a more flexible and pleasant experience after a long trip.
The lack of responsiveness for the room service was frustrating, and it overshadowed what could have been a more enjoyable stay. It was especially annoying to return and find the used towels I had placed on the floor still lying there, despite requesting cleaning. Yet, they expected us to wait for the room to be cleaned only when they were ready.
This is well below the standard of quality and decent service that ANY hotel should provide.

Great hotel. Super clean and smelled luxurious. There was a nightly free drinks time from 5-7. It’s across the street from the yummiest restaurant for breakfast called Tartine.

We selected The Ambrose Hotel for its location to UCLA medical center and other medical groups. We wanted a few days to be close to the doctors in case something was needed. This wasn’t an inexpensive selection for this purpose, but it was a nice choice. The Ambrose seems like a boutique hotel. The room was spacious and clean, but with thin walls. We could hear others talking in/from other rooms. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom is very spacious. Nice! The location is within walking distance to many restaurants. It’s within walking to Whole Foods and Trader Joe. The common patio spaces are welcoming and good opportunity to have casual and friendly encounters with other guests. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There’s also a Hotel driver for any 3-mile radius ride for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or medical center visits. The driver has limited availability to guests, so scheduling is key. Again, this wasn’t an inexpensive selection. Breakfast isn’t included, but coffee and tea are. I thought the coffee was a great coffee. There is some fruit, mostly apple. Hotel is a short walk to Tartine Bakery across the street. This place looks like an old church and it’s has a LA breakfast restaurant vibe.

I found the hotel to be very pleasant. If you visit, check out their "bee a local" service.

I selected The Ambrose Hotel not for a pleasant vacation, although it would be such a charming place and location for just that.
Unfortunately, I had to fly to Los Angeles for a family emergency. My daughter had to have an emergency procedure. The medical center, where the operation would be performed, was located in Santa Monica, not very close to where she resides. I wanted, at least for a few days, to be close to the doctors in case something was needed.
This was not an inexpensive selection for this purpose, but it was so so worth it.
The location was amazing. For my purposes, it was close to the medical centers but it is also steps away from the beach, dining and all the beautiful places Santa Monica offers. Yet, it is located in such a quiet area of town that it allowed me to escape for short walks and the must stops at Tartine Bakery across the street?. Dangerously delicious.
The Ambrose provides an almost intimate feel with a welcoming understated elegance. Everything seems easy and the staff was beyond accommodating. Their parking garage has very pleasant and accessible elevator landings that I especially appreciated for obvious reasons.
I had to request extra linens and ice with increased frequency and the wonderful staff over delivered every time. Without asking, they provided extra everything and even anticipated needs.
The gym is well equipped and has Peloton bikes which I appreciated even if I had very brief moments to use them.
The common spaces welcome casual meetings and friendly encounters. I was not able to use them on this trip but I could see how well other guests seemed to relax in them.
Highly recommend this jewel.
My daughter and I felt pampered and at ease during a difficult time.
Definitely a place to revisit.
Rooms: Contemporary and welcoming.
Nearby activities: Great location in Santa Monica.
Safety: Nice and quiet area of Santa Monica.
Walkability: Close to dining, beaches and shopping.
Noteworthy details: Outstanding service.

This hotel is fantastic! The staff is more like a family. The hospitality from the front dest (Brandon), the complementary Tesla car, serves for a 3 mile radius that will get you anywhere you need to go in the area from (Enrique), to the complementary happy hour from 5-7 (Louise, or front desk staff when busy). The property is very welcoming and staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND! Wasn't our first stay here and won't be the last. highly recommend!

I am thrilled to have discovered this hidden gem! I booked my trip just two days before arrival and happened upon this wonderful hotel. I couldn't be happier that I did! There's so much to share about our experience.
We arrived late, around 11:30 pm, and were greeted warmly with a smile and upbeat, sweet energy. The staff member efficiently ran us through everything we needed to know about the hotel, making us feel incredibly welcome.
Our room was fantastic! It featured a large deck with a seating area, fireplace, and table—spacious and lovely. We especially enjoyed the robes provided. The lobby is inviting and modern, offering plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, along with coffee and a small in-house menu for snacks.
The gym is clean and well-equipped, perfect for maintaining a workout routine while on vacation. The location and amenities, including bikes, a Tesla, and happy hour, added special touches that we truly appreciated.
During happy hour, we received exceptional service from Brandon. He engaged in friendly conversation about our trip, recommended fun activities, and went out of his way to enhance our stay.
I wish I remembered everyone's names, but every single employee was professional, kind, and dedicated to their work. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone! Thank you for making our stay so comfortable and relaxing.
Walkability: Great location. Several stores/ restaurants/ Santa Monica pier within just a couple blocks.
Food and drinks: Happy hour included!
Noteworthy details: Happy hour, bikes, Tesla, robes!

This hotel is great. The only downside is the lack of a pool or sauna, but the hotel’s location, staff and quality of rooms is unreal. Other hotels should take note.
